    What if the zetans just didn’t want humans to go into space? In fallout 4 in the very beginning the sole survivor states that their resources are running out. If the zetans didn’t like humans wouldn’t it be better to keep them in their own area away from the zetans so they wouldn’t have to deal with them?

    • @SirButtz
      @SirButtz 7 років тому +47

      That's what I was thinking as well, weren't the Vault Tec vault experiments to test how humans react in confined spaces in various scenarios for the purpose interplanetary colonisation? Maybe the Zetans didn't like that.

      @savethezombies 7 років тому +32

      Exactly what I thought. Ox almost went there and I'm surprised he didn't. Keep going with the idea that the Earth is like an ant farm for them. Now imagine you had an ant farm and the ants developed tech to escape it. You'd at least shake it up, right?

    • @pikupikuseru
      @pikupikuseru 6 років тому +3

      Well..
      How many planets do you think are out there? There's no scarcity of resource or distance in space. Unless Beth themselves gave reasons why zetans would want to cripple a would-be spacefaring people, I don't think this idea is one of the more likely ones.
      I think the war itself is more likely to have brought the zetans to earth. Many nukes going off at once would give a very particular signal, something an intelligent race wouldn't expect from a non-star body without intelligent life being involved. Ppl could argue this is unlikely too, because it's not like our own SETI has born much fruit in finding intelligent signals in the blackness of space, but it's good for fiction and makes relatively few assumptions.

    • @cyborgt3601
      @cyborgt3601 6 років тому +1

      @Mark81150: Indeed. I'm not even slightly convinced by his arguments for the Zetans having no reason to start the war either. Nor do I find his arguments for why they COULDN'T have started it particularly convincing (we are talking about a species capable of some level of mind control after all.) Hell, you could even argue that if we were studying their technology to allow for our own rapid advancements in tech, that we would have already ruined one potential level of interest they may have had in studying mankind. Cultural development.
      @pixel Biscuits: First, there's evidence the Zetans had been studying humans/the earth LONG before the war as was stated in this video. With that in mind, it's unlikely the war had anything to do with their coming to earth; even in regard to the visit where they kidnap you.
      Second, there doesn't need to be a resource scarcity issue to breed conflict. It may be one of the major ones here on earth, but it isn't required. As Mark81150 stated, these aren't humans we're talking about so their reasoning could include basically anything. Maybe they just didn't like us stealing their technology so they decided to get revenge on a planetary scale. Or perhaps the earth is just a random planet in a part of the galaxy that they consider their own empire and they don't want humanity forcing them to redraw their borders. It's even possible they just didn't like the look of our faces and couldn't allow us to pollute the galaxy with our brand of ugly. Who knows. Debating motivation is fairly pointless considering how little we know about them or even how much we had already done in space in the Fallout universe.
      All that being said, I'm not all that convinced they were behind it either. As amusing as the idea may be, there isn't that much evidence to support it and it just seems to fit better with the "nuclear naïve" society they crafted for the Fallout universe to have then destroyed itself with nukes.

    • @paulghignon4092

      But then why not erraticate them early on? I mean the zetans don't really show emotion, so it would be the most logical to again deal with them before they got out of control. My theory is that they possibly were more observing humans, and once they saw the notably dangerous weapons being created and our willingness to use them; that the zetans decided to put a stop to it. Not entirely killing all humans, but much rather putting a stop to the nuclear weapons.

      That's still being debated IRL (USAF denies it), but having the military shirk off civilian imposed safeguards in the name of expediency is very-much something that would take place in the fallout universe. • @therealkillerb7643

    Several responses to your points;
    1 Why did the aliens not destroy the human race when it would have been easier when we had much less sophisticated technology? Simple, primitives killing each other with pointy bits of metal tied to sticks are not a threat to anyone except themselves. Warlike, advanced species with sophisticated technology, including space-craft, nuclear weapons and lasers are a threat to the entire galaxy. As long as we were captives to our own gravity well, we were nothing but an interesting scientific subject. Once we were able to go into space, set up colonies on Mars, etc., we were dangerous and hence, needed to be removed.
    2 Why did the aliens manipulate us to kill each other, rather than create a plague or something? That assumes that they had any interest in preserving the biosphere in the first place. Maybe, their only concern was to study species to determine if they were a threat. The rapid advancement of human race during the lifetime of one of their research vessels demonstrates that they do not experience time the way we do. We went from pointy sticks to plasma weapons - weapons that pretty much rival their own technology. Since they only had a couple of ships available, and those were research ships, maybe it was just easier to let us kill ourselves off; or keep us penned to our one planet.
    I do not necessarily but into the "aliens started it" theory; but I think your refutation of that needs a little work.
    However it is fun to discuss, so thanks for making the video!

    • @AutodidacticPhd
      @AutodidacticPhd 6 років тому +11

      Yeah, I think you're pretty spot on regarding the logic in the video. Our resources are almost certainly irrelevant, and humanity was treated as a science project rather than a threat *until* we started to reverse engineer their toys. Which makes me think another interesting possibility might be something along the lines of a prime directive with extreme prejudice scenario. What if they were obligated to use the mother ship's death ray on things like Area 51? That death ray looked like it would create a pretty big mushroom cloud... so, maybe they started the war when they vaporized one of our reverse engineering sights, but the resulting explosion was mistaken by the US government for a nuclear strike, thus triggering a "retaliation", neh?
      It also sorta raises the question, I wonder what Eliot and Sally are up to during FO4? Are they still up there just hanging out?

      Yeah honestly I agree with you. But remember that Bethesda owns the lore. And they’ve shown that that really don’t give two shits about it. • @elcidS15
      @elcidS15 7 років тому +32

      Gio_wenilenipaniyeni That's what I was thinking. I'd rather it just be the fault of humans, but advanced telepathic aliens, in a science fiction story, could possible be the creators of vault Tec and a good reason as to why vault Tex wanted to do such experiments. After all, most of those experiments don't seem like something humans would need to experiment about at that point in history. They ought to be well documented human behaviors at that point. So they either need to be completely uninvolved, or completely behind everything for it to make sense.

      your right but what about the compression blast and thermal wave? People act like bombs are just shrapnel and initial blast. The blast is short but the Concussive force of that much displaced air moving far faster WILL kill you. Its literally and invisible death wall up to a certain point. And then after the concussive blast you have the thermal wall where super heated air would fry you XD ONLY THEN do you have the actual blast zone and Shrapnel zone and the fallout zone. I mean if he was THERE when the bomb went off. Its not even the radiation he has to worry about as you mentioned. Its not having his organs burst from the concussive force of that much displaced air at that speed super pressurizing the area. XD

    • @elcidS15
      @elcidS15 7 років тому +1

      The bomb appears to detonate at near ground level. So there ought to be buildings and vegetation in direct line of sight to catch what would have headed their way, so they might have only felt and saw the heat. But any radiation exposure they could have got, would be minuscule compared to people who have been living in the wasteland their whole lives.

    the courier can launch left over nukes in new vegas, the zetans are not likely to have started the war but instead would have used to codes to make the missiles inert, as the missiles can be modified to be damaging to the ships as the detonation can cause emps which can damage energy weapons and the zetans ships, not to mention the ancient cities(the energy from the nukes could possibly cause a reactivation of some left over systems but that is hypothetical) that Cabot talked about they could be observing the planet because the left over remnants of another race. What I mean is that they are staking the planet out to see if any of another alien race(the one responsible for Cabot's head gear are still in a dormant state or if they will come back to the buried cities.

      I'd actually really like to see something like this happen. The Cabot stuff in FO4 is one of my favorite missions in the game and I really hope a follow up game explores it further. The idea of the Zetans searching for other alien ruins while humans sort of pop up and get caught in the middle is a neat idea. They should throw the Dunwich stuff in with it as well since it's an obvious throwback to H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Cthulhu rests beneath the seas in slumber, but he psychicly reaches out and influences humanity. Cults form and worship him just as we see with the Dunwich stuff in FO3 and 4. Lorenzo Cabot also reached out and brought Raiders under his influence in order to escape. His ancient headpiece could be a similar artifact to those worshiped by Dunwich. The Zetans could have been studying humans because of the effect the other artifacts were having on them, and considered humans going into space a threat if some of us were under the influence of a greater evil. The Enclave reverse engineered alien tech and knew war was coming and saved only themselves. They could have purposely ignited the war in order to erase those not under the influence of this evil, which is why they wanted to erase the survivors and repopulate the Earth with their "pure" humans afterwards. The Zetans may have actually wanted to prevent this from happening and failed.

    You are watching way to many movies. Until the 1990's a good number of our icbm's had a code of all 0's as the air force believed the chain of communications would break down before they could get the order to launch. All missile subs have permission to launch without orders if there is an attack. All nuke equipped carriers have permission to launch without orders. Back in the days when the Crockett was in the inventory individual troops could launch them without orders as the time getting the orders would have the Russians already over running the lines.
    launch codes are not really launch codes they are arming codes. The ICBM's can launch with an inactive warhead and bombs can be dropped that will not trigger but they will still be in play and the conventional explosives will detonate spreading the weapons grade material around in a nice dirty bomb.

    Uh... About that... If Fallout is like our universe, then you're quite wrong. Because the U.S. Air Force had a system in place from the late 1960s called the "Permissive Action Link" (PAL) which was meant to prevent accidental launches or people from hijacking or sabotaging U.S. nuclear missiles. Only problem is... it came out that the U.S. Air Force was so paranoid about the system failing in event of a nuclear exchange, that a fail-safe launch code of "00000000" enabled access to the missile and its systems... And official Missileer checklists show this being covered as part of standard operating procedure up until at least 1977 - so for the better part of 10 years, theoretically, any nutcase could have slammed 8 zeros into the terminal and started launching Minute Men missiles. Of course, a few years ago, the USAF (wisely) said this was never the case... despite their own official literature suggesting it was.
    Thankfully, the Missileer crews we had during the cold war were some of the most dedicated and professional people you could ask for.

Fallout 3 was the first game I ever played I was so scared cause I had no idea what to do- I was good at Skyrim but this was a completely new thing for me. He had the Mothership Zeta DLC and when I was transported to their ship.. The cutscene where they probed you in an unknown location gave me chills. But I loved it, I've always loved space and aliens! Just to clarify, the Pre-War world was full of technological miracles like the GECK, and the transmutation machines at the Sierra Madre which literally changed and shaped reality. This was also during a time before processors had revolutionized their world, so it's truly not a stretch to say that humanity could have become extremely powerful if they had survived the war.
    They had nearly infinite energy (fusion), plasma weapons, lasers, an advanced space program (remember, the Enclave wanted to make colonies on either mars or the moon), the ability to better their DNA with the FEV, teleportation, an understanding of fairly advanced robotics and A.I. development, and of course the GECK to live anywhere in the cosmos. The Zetans really could have seen humanity as a threat, especially if they were the only other species in the universe...
    Oh, but they're non-canon, so the chinese were very likely the ones who started the Great War. =/

    humans captured atleast one of the aliens, and were running tests on them. the zetans probably knew that this was happening, as said in the fo3 goty edition text, so thats a reason. another possible reason might be that they consider humans as a threat, explaining why theyre extremely hostile/aggressive in every game. the zetans couldve used the launch codes to launch the missiles themselves, from the mothership, as they most likely have the technology to override any human programs. also, they might just be a species that wants to kill for enjoyment

    Our launch codes were very much so laughably simplistic.
    I think fallout 2 mentioned it was a supercomputer that made the decision to launch the missiles. Similar to the brilliant short story "I have no mouth but I must scream."
    The US was clearly winning WW2 but launched the nukes to show Russia just how devastating our new toy was. Don't put it past a fallout level corrupt administration to do something similar.
    The dialogue was voiced in my game.
    There are several individuals with the authority or ability to launch nukes independently. Especially in 1950's 1960's.
    Don't forget the countless other super powers with nuclear weapons in the fallout universe.
    In 1983 Stanislav Petrov was manning the Russian nuclear forces and his radar clearly showed 5 US nukes headed for Russia. His orders dictated that he was to unleash the nuclear arsenal against America and Europe immediately.
    Turns out his radar had picked up a false positive and his independent thinking told him not to respond narrowly saving the world.
    Perhaps in the Fallout universe India's radar malfunctioned but their man followed orders launching nukes at China. China see's incoming nukes and assumes they are American and retaliates with their entire stockpile. America then does the same, Soviet Union, Pakistan, Iran, Germany, South Africa and probably every single country on the planet by 2077 completely obliterating the world as we know it.
    Knowing the Fallout universe I bet this is the likely answer. They fricken LOVE bureaucratic incompetence and straight up corporate evil.

    The launch code recording from the alien and human. It's a mind reading. The Zetan doesn't speak in any understandable dialect, but instead shows disgust, frustration, and effort in trying to pry the information from the human individual. There is clearly communication between the two, but it isn't over voice.
    Maybe the human was put to sleep while this was happening, considering you don't hear any voiced struggle from the individual, I believe this is very possible. Sedated strongly nonetheless.

    Puma u gave me an idea for another Fallout spin off like Vegas. In a desolate city all remaining humans are living in fear of strange monsters and little green men. When an 'Outlander' is hired to investigate the disappearance of locals, believing it was just ghost stories. Only to find the inner city ruins are completely overrun by mutated creatures not of radiation, by experimentation. Flying lights, blue plasma bolts from the rooftops. Seeing the large crater in the center, and, what is in it. The city was not destroyed by nukes, but a massive Grand Mother ship crashed upon the Earth. Intact, the ship is the capitol city of the FALLEN. Descended from the original Zetan on board, these heavily mutated creatures are larger and have learned a primitive form of English. For 200 years they have been breeding and changing into something new. Abducted humans were primarily for food, only experimenting on those unfit to eat. This is their city. Can the Outlander fight this enemy, or be consumed by... Fallout: New Zeta

I gess that every game of this franchise has a crashed ufo), this one because...well they are a ton smart, they are advanced, etc...so why they crashing, maybe human are shooting down the ufos.

    I hate Zetan theories so much. They originally started as an easter egg in the first Fallout, but Bethesda decided to fuck lore in the ass. It makes no sense, it should just stay as an easter egg and nothing else, non canonical.
    Why would aliens decide to visit 60 years from now, why not a thousand years ago. And why would they come back after fucking the world up. It's too dumb to be in a Fallout game.
    I thought Bethesda had realized this mistake and just kept that crash ship as a small easter egg, but then they decided to make it lore that Lorenzo found an underground alien society in the mojave desert. Bethesda hates New Vegas, they legit fucking hate New Vegas, they changed lore for a game that is so much better than any game they could ever make.

    Superior technology would probably be enough to launch nukes. The Aliens were probably observing us and only doing just that. Getting launch codes was some key information, they didn't need it seeing the "Death ray" have the same power, but still they probably got a kick out of trying.

    7:20 you just answered your own question. Zetas find uncorrupted human dna valuable. How do you make a large group of something more valuable? Make it more rare. Make the possbility of getting ahold of it, slimmer and more out of reach. The more unlikely it is to find something, the more valuable it is when you eventually do find it.

    8:14 "While the United States could attempt to nuke China, it wouldn't make much sense for them to do so, as they were winning the war" The US was winning against Japan with the British Empire, China, and the Soviet Union, but they nuked Japan in WW2.

      Some Guy That was for a few nuanced reasons, mainly: 1. To prevent a costly invasion of mainland Japan and 2. To end the war before Russia could take more territory, leaving a diplomatically preferable situation in Japan for the US after the war. Korea was split in two because Russia captured the north and America the south, and something similar might have happened to Japan without the nuclear bombs ending the war. In Fallout, nukes would not stop China, as China was desperate for resources and had their own nukes.

      that was tactically the most sound option. We had the upper hand but it would have taken months to years to island hop each individual island and ALL the naval forces. Slaughtering MILLIONS of soldiers on both sides. While we faced thousands of individual grudging stop and go island warfare. Japanese DIDNT surrender. They fought to the last man. It would have been like Antietam in the civil war times about a BILLION. whole islands of corpses. So instead we had to use an option so strong it would FORCE the japanese to surrender. We warned them Multiple times just surrender and we Dont have to do this. They refused. We warned the cities (military centers only not civilian populations zones which they try to say. Otherwise why didnt we drop on tokyo or the forbidden city itself?) The emperor STILL refused. So we dropped one bomb. Thousands die. We say again. Just surrender so we can end this. Japan wanted to not take the blame for what they did in pearl harbor. They wanted to negotiate an equal standing deal. But you dont get to surprise attack someone and then NOT take the blame for what you did. Try to power play and remain an active threat. The US rightly said NO. You wanted this war and now you take the blame for it. Just surrender so we can stop this. The Emperor Was STILL too proud. Even after it was apparent they were outmatched. So the option was the same as last time. Do we engage in a months long war of attrition losing BILLIONS of lives (japanese and american civilian and soldier alike) or do we cut the casualties down to possible million or so by using our overwhelming power advantage? The choice was terrible but ultimately strategically there was only one clear option. And they MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. People are outraged at the loss of life yet they advocate for a ground war that would have made the death toll of the bombs a DROP IN THE BUCKET. Look how many were lost During the invasion of Normandy and that was ONE battle. Now times that by THOUSANDS of battles THOUSANDS of islands. THOUSANDS of Naval blockades. It would have been a blood bath the likes the world has never seen to this day. Japan Controlled most of the Pacific at this time. Remember. The nuclear option SAVED lives.

    Bethesda didnt understand the lore of Fallout. F1, F2 and NV only have aliens as a joke. In NV you need to turn on wild wasteland (cultural references and jokes) to "met aliens". Or to get indiana jones reference etc etc. In f1 and f2 wild wasteland is always "on". You get a star trek shuttle and many other jokes. one such joke is aliens. Bethesda misunderstood. Hope they read up for the next game

      I'd imagine that they had already learned from that mistake. In fallout 4 there is only one alien and it occurs during a random encounter, exactly the same fashion used to portray the aliens as in fallout 1 (I guess in fo1, the aliens are dead and there is no blaster, but still). The only place they really put aliens out of proportion was mothership zeta, and that's just because they had underutilized the alien npc.

    Scary real world incident that has a tangential relationship to UAP/UFO's... Early 1970s Several ICBM silos went active, no launch codes entered, no authorizations given, and happened in both the US and the Soviet Union at the same time. Each side scrambled to deactivate the systems but could not gain control or find out how it was happening. It lasted for 30 minutes then just as suddenly as it had started it stopped. Common thread in both countries were strange lights appearing over the silos and what appeared to be a spotlight shining down on them for about 2 minutes before vanishing. The incident records can be found if you dig through a ton of declassified documents in the library of congress and what was leaked from the Kremlin when the Soviet Union collapsed. Each side had blamed the other but didn't want to escalate the situation because they thought if the other side could do this, what else were they capable of.

    Technically speaking during the cold war in our world there were several nuclear launch sites that were very lax with the security regarding the launch keys, theoretically speaking anyone could have launched a nuke at the time as long as they got to the panel where the key was, which wouldnt have been hard if you were stationed at one of the bases. This is known information that can be gotten from reading up about the launch systems in place at the time.
    Seeing as that was one of the most dangerous periods in human history, seeing as total annihilation was just a few steps away, and the security was that lax... i have no issue in believing that the "Zetans" would have been able to start a nuclear war by launching atleast one nuke in the Fallout universe.

  • @woutwijker7361

    I like the idea of a 2 person launch for the nukes, but in the great divide DLC of fallout NV. All the courier did to launch the nukes is bring the codes to the town. So having the codes does give you some controle over the nukes

    I don't know if it's been said, but the war happened at the same time that the US was executing it's plans to move humanity into space to harvest it's resources. it would make sense that the zetans are an expansion of the resource wars on a Galaxy scale, watching species intently for the time they decide to follow them into space living and become competition. it also works into the plan that they're just being efficient by using the existing mechanisms to remove the threat. I also think he timing of obduction and study shows an example of benchmarks for human development so they can figure out how fast humans are adapting to see if we would be a real threat or if we could just be left alone. war is expensive, after all. even for super aliens.

    China would not fire their nuke even when their capital city has been undersiege because they still have a large amount of land to retreat and make a counter strike back, which would preserve the land for habitation.Kinda similar to how they deal with japan in ww2. This made the idea of china launching the nuke to be a silly idea.

      keroji s I could be wrong, but it says that nobody knows who launched the first nukes so you could be right. However, because they lost Alaska they could have become sore losers and launched. Or the Americans could have tried to finish it and launched the nukes.

  • @TrippBOOMOneFunnyGuy

    1) I always assumed the subtitles were representing what was going on in the guys kind. Subtitles for his thoughts. The Zetan was telepathically taking the info from him
    2) We have no idea what kind of tech an alien race has. Our tech (in the Fallout universe especially) might be so primitive that all they need are the codes and they can do the rest. Why else would they be trying to get the codes unless they could use them?
    3) war never changes and so is the adage that History is written by the victor. Which if anyone was really a victor the US comes the closest. (People are traveling overseas to the US instead of Anywhere else after the war to seek fortune which means the US must be the best there is at that time.) for all we know the US fired nukes first which started the war. Not knowing it was the zetans they might either claim they didn't strike first or that they did because china was about to attack.
    4) The real question is why do the zetans hate us and what is that they want from us? Is it possible they live on mars and we sent a manned mission there (FO4) and that mission failed by crashing into a alien city sparking a war with them?

    I could see the Aliens doing it as a sort of experiment of what would happen. The Aliens have enough human DNA from abductions and may have decided to see what the effects were of nuking an entire planet, which is relatively not bad in comparison to what it could have been.
