@Ashwin - This is Gopal from Bangalore. I was in tears listening to your narration. I still recall meeting you at the Castrol felicitation to the Indian 2011 WC winning team at ITC Gardenia where as a new comer a shy you came and introduced yourself to me as “Hi, I am Ashwin” . I find the same childish innocence and passion for Cricket in you, even now. Our boys gave their played their heart out. Destiny decided otherwise in the finals. Let's hope that 2024 T20 WC is ours, just as what follwed after the 2007 ODI WC elimination at the league stage itself- please let me know your co-ordinates, I wish to meet you

Not many professionals gave credit to Australia, your analysis and honest opinion was awesome. Heart breaking to see India loose, not in my life have I seen Aussie go in to a game as under dogs. Every one including the aussie pre show which I watched here gave India the chance. In sports there is no looser we have good days and not so good days. One of the best performances by India this world cup. ❤Best wishes Ashwin.

As an Australian, much respect to Ashwin and the Indian team. 10 wins in a row against the best teams in the world is a great achievement. I grew up watching Tendulkar/Dravid/Sehwag/Ganguly/Kumble battling McGrath/Shane/War/Ponting/Taylor etc and its great to see this generation continuing on this great rivalry. India always fights hard and whoever wins its always fantastic cricket. Until next time India, best of luck in your future matches.

India played a new brand of cricket through out the tournament winning 10 out of 11 that too in big stage is an extraordinary achievement. It reminded me 2003 world cup where we lost only one match and went on to final without loosing any match but there also Australia beaten us convincingly. As you mentioned Shreyas is a big plus for us and he is acknowledged now. Only problem araised was injury to Hardik and it was felt in final match and his replacement Surya Kumar, who was backed by team management, branded as x-factor, 360 player, better than Ab de Villiers, etc, etc., is completely failed his nation when mattered but on contrary his counterpart Travis, backed by Aussies team management, played very well to lift trophy for his country. Golden opportunity missed.

    • @gid30n
      @gid30n 11 місяців тому +4

      >India played a new brand of cricket
They didn't. They played normal cricket with excellent talent.
      >completely failed his nation when mattered
No. Don't fall into the trap of blaming individuals.
Do you want to know the main reason Aus excelled? It's because we didn't really have fear of failure. It makes us calm.
India had already decided it was the winner. Winning the final wasn't impressive, it was expected.
When things looked bad, every Indian player thought of the abuse, the ridicule, being dropped, losing.
When things look bad for Aus, it's fine. They're still our lads, we'll do it next time.
Every time we did something good the crowd was silent like the grave. And it hurt their morale.
Every Indian wicket, every time we hit a six - It gave doubt.
You talk about Kumar failing and Head succeeding, but every Aussie fan knows that Head has failed. For years. Often. But we still backed him. He's one of ours no matter what happens.
We won't and didn't drop him for some fails. We know the failure can make him stronger.
The same is true for Green. He's had a bad run. But we won't drop him, we'll keep giving him chances because we can see his effort. A few years from now you'll sonder how he's so good.
The other reason is that politics and the public have nothing to do with selection or development. We let those who actually know make the call and don't constantly second guess them.
If India ever get their act together, with their population vs ours, we would never beat them again. But for now, we'll win.

    • @TamilarasiKaliaperumal
      @TamilarasiKaliaperumal 11 місяців тому

I dont accept this reason we r very strong team when compared to any other team in tournament but final we played with fear of failure which is clearly seen in rahul batting. He played with fear with defensive mindset. He thought if we failed no batting further. If he played with positive mindset attacking with boundary or rotating singles or doubles then aus will feel pressure they will tend to made mistakes easily we can capitilise it.(aus played with positive mindsets they win we played with negative mindsets we loss).

What you said about Bumrah is 200% true. Even in Finals, it happened to Head so many times and not one broken the stick, feel very sorry to him. Master of swing and pace bowling by Bumrah, treat to watch. Then Rohit is priceless and selfless what a leader to sacrifice himself for the team. Those who blame his batting in Final can think of his play in Eng match proves he can change fidel and my perception that he went again to Maxi's 3rd ball that ge want to knock him off to create fear and show dominance. Butcit went otherway. Very unfortunate 😢

Ash... You are a true champion and a great ambassador of cricket.
At the time of toss, when Ravi shastri asked Rohit "Any changes? That time I was eagerly looking that Rohit spell out your name. But unfortunately it didn't happen. Then my intuition was bang on " Something wrong is on the way " . As Bossky said in his recent interview..you would have taken head's wicket with ease. The carrom ball and the other stuffs were missed badly that night from you. But see now, how big Your heart is.....not showing any regret and praising everyone who contributed well throughout the campaign.
    Well done.
I am big fan Dravid, Dhoni and now you are in that league.
    Ashwin .The legend.

Good reflection, very positive outlook. Disappointed that they didn't utilise a world class thinking bowler like you especially against Australia against whom you have a psychological advantage. You could have been a great difference to take India's fight closer in CWC Finals

Even before Final match , I had doubts over the team selection.. Fact that shami only got a chance to play when Hardik got injured. and Ashwin wasnt playing but someone like SKY whose 50 odi run rate isnt consistent to say the least, was playing shows Rohit's poor choice of team .. I mean yes,, being an Indian i will support the teams representing India but we shouldn't also shy away from asking tough questions..

In place of pandya we should've played Ashwin instead of suryakumar. We would've got a 6th bowling option and also Ashwin is a decent batter. Ashwin would've batted better than SKY

All played their part so well, bad luck in the finals , maybe if India batted second like we did in 2011 l, the chances were high. I watched all the Indian matches and till Rohit Sharma bats every ball, every over was like a blockbuster movie. I would rate Rohit very higher than Kohli, Rohit batted fearlessly.

    Key turning points
    1) All 4-batters failed at same time (Gill, Iyer, SKY, Jadeja) unable to handle finals pressure
    2) KL, Virat playing could have hit ground-level 4 (not lofty shots), instead of only singles
    3) Rohit out - going for big shot when 6,4 already hit and Gill down
    4) After 3 wickets cud not take, as score was low and they NEATLY planned innings that's it.!!

Team India did the best job and is team of the tournament. Winning and losing game is part of any sport. However, was very upset to see that we could not exploit the home ground advantage despite having 120000 spectators. India played very good cricket according to the pitch conditions. There are lot of critics who will talk about players and tactics. Surprisingly no one talk about the role of supporters. This is also a factor in sport. Cheers from supporters will energize and motivate the team in difficult situations. Unfortunately I have not seen much support or cheering for the singles taken by kohli and rahul. They have batted more than 20 overs to steady the innings. I think this was the main reason that we have lost the game not the tactics or not taking any risks. Seems Indian crowd is mostly coming to get entertained from boundaries, milestones, wickets etc. in contrast, Australia embraced the challenge to silence the crowd. Something to learn how to emerge from the situation that is not in favor. Looking forward for more tournaments ahead.

Hello Ashwin, am Muralidhar...I listened to your thread bare analysis of the world cup and really in awe of the planning that Australia does. Just a thought came to my mind as was watching the 2nd session - our bowling. When nothing is happeniing in usual course of things, we get reminded of MSD , whi makes things happen. It would have an out-of-the-box thinking to have Virat Kohli bowl a over or two as we had nothing to lose and everything to gan. Those moves takes real guts and MSD was a personification of such thought process.

We as Indian cricket fans deserve answers to such questions:
    1. Why despite the fielding medal initiative our fielding intensity couldn't match Aus intensity?, fielding made a huge difference.
    2. Why didn't any message float from dressing room to KL Rahul when the game was drifting away as it happened in other matches?
    3. Why couldn't we read the pitch and conditions right despite playing in home conditions?
    4. Why did Rohit allow easy singles to Head and Labuschagne? Rohit was so brilliant with his captaincy all throughout but he opted for defensive approach in final.
    5. Why couldn't our bowlers execute bouncers against Head, even in WTC final we were late to execute bouncer plan?
    6. Why do we take defensive approach every time under pressure situations and do not take enough risks?, we need to overcome fear of failure.
We can't sleep either knowing that this was our best chance to win the cup, Ro-Ko deserved it. 😢

@ashwin bro that Pat Cummins bowling strategy of bowling with a leg side field is inspired from their recent ashes series. They (Aussie quicks) used to bowl short with a packed leg side and get wickets by batsman being caught at deep mid wicket and behind square. So what we saw on the wc finals is something that they have already done before.
