    As a former resident of Sugar Hill, a nice surprise coming across this video. Love your golf sim videos Joe.

    Thanks for featuring the course, Joe! I was hoping that you would play 4, 9 and 14 - those are the nightmare holes on this course. It would be great to see someone who really knows how to play attack those. I’ve played this course over 100 times in the last 20 years and I think that I have probably only parred those 20 times collectively.
    For a real challenge, and to make it closer to real summer conditions, I would recommend playing hard fairways and firm greens. The course is at the top of a hill and gets completely baked out in the summertime.
    As I told Scott, he made it too nice! For anyone thinking of having a course made, I can’t recommend Scott highly enough! My wife and I are moving to Hilton Head next year and I plan to have him build the courses that I’ll be living on there. He was fast and super responsive. Even though we are literally on opposite sides of the world, he was able to turn this out in less than two weeks. It completely exceeded my expectations! Thanks to Joe and Scott!

    Joe, enjoyed the video. So is this course private, JL members only, or available on the GSPro servers for download. It looks great and reminds me of a couple courses here in PA.
    Joe I have a request… when you do videos like this where the course is featured, would you consider showing the course stats like is done on the SGT site? It would be nice to take a look at all the distances for all the tee boxes to determine if they are suitable to play with my very senior swing. This looks like it might be. .
    Scott did a great job and it seem there is a trend here in the East that Public and semiprivate courses tend to protect themselves with undulating & sloping greens like you saw here. Because maintenance is so expensive and time consuming bunkers are sometimes planted over and allowed to grow taller to present a different hazard challenge

      It’s on GSPro. It’s actually the par 3 course on SGT this week.

    • @hjlamb
      @hjlamb 20 днів тому

      What you mentioned about the bunkers is exactly what they did with this course. I have been playing here for 20+ years. This is a municipal course. It used to have more bunkers but they were difficult to maintain. Eventually, they let several of them grow in and allowed the rough to grow up.
      The course is not long but you have to hit very specific distances on most holes. If you play the white tees and hit your tee shots around 200 yards, you’ll enjoy this course. I’m 55 but still hit my driver around 260 carry (no idea of direction). I only use driver on 4 or 5 holes when I play here. The challenge of this course is usually the wind and the slope/elevation changes.
      I hope you enjoy playing it!

      @@hjlamb Downloaded it & first let me say Joe makes this course and its greens look much easier than it is.
      My only slight disappointment was that the par 3 version of the tees seem to have very similar distances. Maybe you wanted this way and it’s your course it should be what you want.
      I like to use the par 3 tees in courses because of not having room overhead to swing the longer clubs. This is not uncommon as I don’t think designers put a lot of thought into the placement of these imaginary tee boxes. The real Par 3 courses I have played rarely have more than a couple holes longer than 125 yds. But in GSPro the par 3 version of a full course can have multiple holes over 200 yds in length. If it’s a course I would like to play I just treat those as par 4s.

    • @hjlamb
      @hjlamb 19 днів тому

      @@OMG-2 I had no input on the par 3 tees. My guess is that the course is so hilly and sloped that he probably put them where they would fit. When I played the par 3 version on SGT this week, I was surprised by the fact that the holes which are actual par 3s were typically longer in the par 3 version. Also, many of the locations were not where you would necessarily be on your approach shot in a real round.
      I completely agree with you on how the imaginary par 3 tees do tend to play too long compared to a normal par 3 course. On most of the par 3 courses around here, a 140 yard shot would be considered very long.

      @@hjlamb Maybe ask Scott if there is any say in where they are placed and perhaps we can go together on a version 2 mod, that is if you are interested in doing something like that

      Thanks. When I say a basic course it means I don’t use satellite shaders or build clubhouses and extra things. I’ll always try to make a nice looking course. 👍🏻
