The fact that little engine pulled two loaded trailers shows he must have some deep gears in the rears. Probably something in the 5.something to 6.17. This is why I love the two stroke Detroit.... they thrive on being beat silly. Keep it full of oil and water and work it hard.
GREAT OLD TRUCK TO DRIVE IF YOU ARE STONE DEFF-YOUR LEFT ARM DOESENT FALL OFF AND YOU HAVE 10 K OF STRAIGHT-FLAT TAR ROAD TO FINALLY GET INTO TOP GEAR.
When I lived in NZ back in the '70's, there were quite a few old International R200's from the 1950's running around. They were running 8V 71's in them if memory serves me right. You could hear those trucks coming for miles. Do you see any of those old International's over there is Australia? Keep the movies coming. I do enjoy them.
I know I am 7 years late. But yes we have the R200’s in Australia, but we also have what’s called an R190 which is just a different cab. I prefer the 190 because it’s got a nice looking Aussie cab. The 671’s were a great motor too, absolutely love the sound of them.
8V53s is what they had in some and 6V71s towing timber jinkers ,I've seen the pictures and you wouldn't believe the size of the loads with an extra axle in front of the bogie.
This looks like it's out on the Warkton Road near Coonabarabran. Am I right? Because if so I've seen this truck regularly when I used to live around there.
see heres the great thing bout australia.... you guys can have road trains there and haul 5 times as much with one truck as you can in the use....... they would do that over here you could make a killing !
Seth Nonya all depends on who the driver is with Detroit engines being a two stroke you have to cane the hell out of them. I knew a Bedford truck when I was a kid tandem drive loaded to the max with logs at around 30-35 ton mark and the driver used to get it going really well even up slight grades and only a little V6.
@@andrewking9761 in GB it was AWD and Bedford. Certain models came with bedfords own engines such as the TK which were used in trucks buses lorries and coaches and others like the TM or KM came with 6v92,71or 8v71 6V53 depending on spec.
hey knighty what diff ratios you running in the old girl mate , I got a diamond I'm working on at the moment and am looking for ideas on gearing , cheers mate
Its not often I listen to 2 stroke Detroits, but when I do, so does the neighbours
