Ohhh thanks for reminding me , I also froze some cherries. I'm in Ontario but the cherries are from British Columbia. Seeing as I gave out home preserves for Christmas I'm keeping this cherry jam a secret.😉
Um um um.... I better go dig deep in my freezer for cherries. I know they're there! I cracked a smile when you talked about the wax on top of the jelly. I remember those moments, and it felt extra special to eat that jam on some hot, buttery toast. Thanks
Hi.......u r the exact person I've been searching for making cherry jam from frozen cherries with liquid peptin. I've been search for this for 2 days. Thank you...😊
Thank you so much Colleen for doing this video! I’ve had cherries sitting in my freezer that we picked this summer. Wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them. Now I know! Glad you’re keeping busy in your retirement. 🙂
Hi Colleen, cherry jam looked very nice, I mostly have savoury spreads on toast like peanut butter or Vegemite but craved apricot jam, oh boy was it sweet but I paid $6.00 for small jar so I will eat it all. You are very productive.
Hello Maude, Thanks for your comments. The cherry jam is quite good and this may sound a bit daft but we eat it more as an accompaniment with chicken or beef than we do as a spread for toast. Cheers, Colleen
That jam is a beautiful . I made Christmas Morning Jam in December for my kids. It’s always a good time to can! The weather in Southern Ontario is also unseasonably warm!
The video reminds me when I used to make sandplum jelly and how much I missed it. I am going to try it again soon with the frozen fruit I have in my freezer. Thank you for sharing your video's
I make a lower sugar strawberry freezer jam every year and usually regular canned rhubarb jelly, and apple butter. I use Surejell (it's a powder) but I have heard of Certo. too. Great video!
When the first cherries come into our stores the prices are so high but its hard not to stretch the budget to include at least one full handful of cherries. 🍒
I've been making jam for many years . I use Certo or SureGel . Recently tried low sugar . I was afraid that it would contain artificial sugar in it . But it didn't. Too much sugar in regular jam. loved the results. June will be cherry season in Pa . Hoping to make Bing Cherry jam ! love your videos .
Hello Mary Ellen, I think that's in June when we get to pick cherries here in British Columbia too and we always look forward to having a really good feed of fresh cherries. Making Bing cherry jam would be delicious. Take care, Colleen
Thank you for your video. Makes sense to me. The good sister has a cherry tree but to get any cherries before the birds do is a feat in itself. Still, I managed to put up four pints of cherries last fall. My Jam project has been the Banana Jam, ... made with canned crushed pineapples, lemon juice, and lots of sugar. I am so pleased with the results and what a method for canning those discount Bananas I find in the stores. I thought the Pineapple would overpower the banana taste but not at all, go figure eh? I'm sure it's for the PH along with the 3 tbsp of lemon juice for colour. Keep up the good work! AND! Have a great one.
Thank you! I tried something a couple of years ago from the Bernadin canning book that had pineapples, maraschino cherries and coconut. Was pretty good but found it too sweet. I've never tried canning bananas but maybe thats one coming up in the future.
Love your show! I was wondering if you have done any shows on Freezer Jams? I have a huge fig tree that gives off a huge crop of figs each August. I just started to watch you in November and enjoy your cooking very much. I loved your Jello salads video you did it reminded me of my Aunt . Every Thanksgiving she made jello salads . I miss her and her salads . Thanks for all your tips and recipes . Much enjoyed❤️
Hello Diane, I don't have any freezer jam recipes because I can all my jams and jellies. But if you are looking for freezer jam recipes you could check out bernardin.ca
Thank you for another great video. I have used liquid pectin a couple of times and it has never set so I just use the powder when I use pectin (probably something I am not doing correctly). I make orange marmalade and various other jams. I have a fig tree so make fig preserves every year. I quite often make these jams and preserves without pectin. I have not heard the instruction to let the boling water in the canner die down before taking the jars out. Is that something that you do because you are at altitude or do you think it is a wise practice for everyone? Thanks
Ha! Every time i walk into my storage room, i keep saying "too many empty jars. Too many!!" I have been picking up meat on sale as well as veggies and canning beef stew, meatballs, a variety of veggies and chili is next. I also need to can up sime more soups.
I've gotten quite protective of my jars and tell the kids that their very life depends on them returning them and then I went to get a box of empties off the top shelf and 3 jars fell out and broke. Thats a sign that the empties are stacked to high and its time to get busy.
My problem is, I keep running out of jars. They are expensive to get started. I get a few dozen each month. Can until I run out, then wait til next month. repeat.
Hello Penny, You're right they are expensive to get kitted out bit good for you for working to build your supply. Soon you will have enough that you will be refilling in January as well. Best wishes, Colleen

They are a precious commodity for sure. Lol 😆

Happy to share that memory with you! Lol I know there are people who still do it that way and it works just as well! Cheers, Colleen

Love For jars lids.❤❤
I love them too and even though shipping to Canada is very high I will continue to buy them.
@@oursilvermoments6028 ya that's crazy how it differs from place to place.

It is great with half the certo as a pancake syrup as well!
That jam is a beautiful . I made Christmas Morning Jam in December for my kids. It’s always a good time to can! The weather in Southern Ontario is also unseasonably warm!

Ooh! That rhubarb jelly sounds scrumptious!! 😋 I love rhubarb!
Thank you Joy! I love rhubarb jelly and apple butter! I have rhubarb in that cavernous freezer of mine that needs to be processed as well.
Oh cherries!!! They wouldn't have made it to jam if I had them. Yummy!!❤🍒

Love this recipe, and when cherries come in again, I will do yours, thanks
Thank you Connie ❤️

Man I sure would love to taste that cherry jam!
It is so good! Thanks for watching!
Oh I sometimes adds drop of almond extract to it. Yum. 😊
Oh Mary, thank you for giving that memory back to me. My grandmother used to add almond and I had forgotten that. Best wishes, Colleen
O, I have blueberries in the freezer. I better check them. Thank you for reminding me!
I don’t love cherries but this actually sounds delicious! Thanks!
I love them much more fresh than I do frozen or canned.
Hi Colleen
I use the same brand here in the states. Our certo comes 😊in a blue box. I usually only do one package to a batch of jam.
Thank you Mary, so many things are different between our two countries.
@@oursilvermoments6028 yes but we remain friends. That’s a good thing.😁
Being friends is a great thing!
Love me some Cherries!
Me too! I think I ate a cup full of them as they were thawing.
Colleen cherry jam sounds and looks so yummy on hot buttered toast. Mmmmm😊
It is delicious! I hope you give it a try. Cheers, Colleen
Canuary is real lol. I have a bunch of veg to do as well as some meat.

My mom does marmalade for dad a lot. She uses Certo. I want to start making my own jam cause I am a diabetic now so I want to make low sugar ones.
I just made Cherry jam
Yummmmmmm

They/ for jars just opened a distribution center in Canada .😘 Makeitmake did an interview with them on a live last week .
Yahoo! Thats great news! Thanks for sharing. I went right away and found it. 🥰
Now we're talking 🤣💐🙏🇺🇲
Cheers!
So the u leave them in longer than 10 min?😊
No, I only leave them in for 10 minutes. Hot jars, hot lids, hot water bath for 10 minutes. Cheers, Colleen
What is the foam? Yes I would be eating that foam
The foam is the heated air from the fruit and boiling.
How many did you get?
Hi Connie, I bought 10 pounds of cherries and they were $7.00 a pound.
@@oursilvermoments6028 How many jars of jam did you get? thanks:) BOP
