If you don't have a Steam Juicer (available on Amazon) put it on your canning equipment wish list. I put my grapes in the top colander of the juicer, then the pan that looks like a tube cake pan under the colander and water in the bottom pan. This makes great grape juice to can or make into jelly. Blackberries, apples, and tomatoes are great for juicing. Have a blessed evening, stay safe and healthy 🙏🥰👍👌🙏✝️🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
Concord grapes are what got my dad into canning many years ago! Now he has a steam juicer, and puts up juice and jam every year. From there he started pickling, and pressure canning the veggies he grew. Then he got me into it too!
Watching this 3 years after you made the video but I just wanted to say that I never have a failure. Ever. I may not always get jam, but I do get what I like to call waffle sauce in that case. LOL.
Yummy! My Dad’s vines are around 50 years old.. Grape juice and jam so yummy! They are across state in Fremont MI. Clay ground but was old pasture and pig pen. Before Dad made his orchard and grape arbors. My niece now has the farm . Thank you I always learn from your videos! 👍❤️
We don’t have vines, but go to a campground yearly in the fall in Rhode Island. There are hundreds of vines there that are native and old and large! They are totally organic as they have never been sprayed in the many years there. The campground tells people to pick as many as they want! They are so good!!! It is one of my very favorite campgrounds and a great Fall treat!
You are so fortunate to have the ability to pick fresh ones! Houston Texas only gets a handful at certain grocery stores and I love. They are my favorite of grapes and any berry you can list. Concord is the best. I always have Welch’s grape jelly or jam on hand.
One of best memories is the concord grapes we canned when I was growing up. Stem the grapes and wash fill quart jars a bit more than half full cover with water and pressure can. In the winter it's the best treat to strain the jar out put the juice in a half gallon picture add water about quarter cup of sugar or other sweetener to fill the pitcher. Heaven in a glass fantastic over ice and very little in time involved in the canning
Glad U had the lid on real tight on the processor...imagine if it was like the grain mill??? WHEW!!! I'm doing preserves and jams this year since my family love to get them for Xmas gifts. I'll find me some concord grapes this year for sure; since in PA, I live near many vineyards. TY for doing this Leisa.
I made Concord Grape jam last year! 36 half pints! The new house has a Concord Grape vine and its already starting to cluster! I'm so excited to make more this year!
We have an old grape vine that someone must've planted years ago. This was old farm land back in 20's. Main stalk is size of a tree trunk. A lot of vine is up in trees and hard to get at. Tastes like a Concord. Every yr I get 4-6 jelly jars full of jam. It's a lot of work, but its family favorite. I do the extra step of popping them out of their skins first then add back after I've deseeded them. I tried the way you did in pot last yr and it seemed like I lost too much of the pulp, so this yr back to deskinning them this yr.! So worth it though!
This is my comfort zone, jam, jelly's and compote ( I like to be bougie 😜) The husband takes the frozen fruit and puts it on ice cream - thats the recipe 🥂
We have a 4 year old concord grape vine on an arbor over our air conditioner. It is loaded with clusters this year. So glad to see this video. I was trying to decide between juicing for jelly or making jam. I'm going with jam 🥰
Concord grape jam is oh so delicious! I make it when I want because I freeze the grape juice in portion size batches. I then takeout a portion from the freezer and whip some jam up.. The smell and taste is heavenly.
Looks so yummy, my next types of jam & jelly will be peach and blackberry, then I'm holding off on canning sweet stuff until apples come in fresh in our regional mountains, then I'm going to make apple jelly, and apple sauce.
Pomona's Universal Pectin is a great pectin for jams/jellies if you are looking to reduce the sugar. I highly recommend it. It is a 2 part process and requires a bit more care, but its not at all difficult to use and results in a great product. It is my #1 go-to for jams and jellies because I just can't justify a cup of sugar (or more) per jar.
If you don’t have a food mill I’d recommend getting one. I have a OXO food mill and I love it! It would simplify that straining process. Thank you. I’ll be making this when Concord grapes hit the market.
Made jam from my three year old grape vines last year. It smelled great, but was so solid it wouldn’t spread. I’ve moved and need to start some more vines.
Wonderful childhood memories of concord grape jelly. The seedless concord tastes nothing like the original and delicious concord with seeds imho. I am curious if anyone has ever made a concord/habenero jelly? Peach/habenero is so awesome that we are wanting to try some other combinations!
At the 8:31 mark you switched to a metal/SS strainer. I'd like to purchase one but I don't want to just guess and get something that has to big of holes to do the jam like you did. Any suggestions on the one you have, and where you purchased it? Thank you.
Looks wonderful! Is pectin and sure gel the same? I purchased cooking sure gel to make canned apple pie filling..... can I use this (cooking sure gel)to make jellies also if I am out of pectin. I’m new to making jellies and jams😀
@@SuttonsDaze it looks so good that I will do my bumbleberry jam this weekend... only have one jar left... and that one is from 2016... haven't canned anymore since then because I am diabetic and a dab will go along ways...
