- We are counting down 5 of the absolute WORST, most tragic Red Dresses of all time. The red dress is an iconic choice, the bold color carrying much of it's impact, but upon closer inspection so many of them are simply awful designs, garish and ill-thought out. One dress in today's video even has a disturbing nickname you won't believe. Let's take a look at these most horrendous dresses and WHY you don't like them. Also, I explain why I have been beefing with Carolina Herrera recently, there's a big problem happening with her designs the last few years, we must address it.

Catherine stunned in *that* gold dress and she was covered from head to toe. No need to sell the farm, keep a little mystery ladies!
Exactly… I think showing too much of the body parts is so distasteful and vulgar. Only “cheap” gals go that route.
My mom would say “don’t put all your goods in the window”.
Catherine looked like a statuesque Goddess.
Catherine was stunning that night. That’s how a princess should dress on special occasions. I was so impressed.
In September 2022 the Princess of Wales wore the stunning gold cape dress, by Jenny Packham, to the Bond movie premiere. In October 2022 Markle wore that hideous red rag to try and upstage the Princess of Wales....and failed spectacularly as usual.
Catherine looked amazing in that dress. Hard one to top now, she really suited the gold.
Meghan Markle went totally downstage with that dress. Nothing would have been able to upstage Princess Catherine. Also, Queen Camilla held her own at the movie premiere.
@@westzed23yes..even an elderly woman like Camilla can easily outshine someone like MM, because she chooses what suits her and is appropriate for the occasion...MM just says "what's the most expensive one?" Because she has no taste and thinks dearest = best... which is never so.
Catherine really did look like a Goddess. Markle looked absolutely ridiculous and so out of place at that event. I can't stand woman like markle they swear they the most beautiful, stylish and intelligent women on Gods green earth. Markles jealously of Catherine getting all the compliments and attention got the best of her and markles arrogance led her to believe that she was going to actually steal the limelight and attention Catherine received in that beautiful gold dress .She failed big time I actually felt embarrassed for the rest of us American woman because markle represents us on the world stage because markle represents every negative stereotypes of how the world views american woman , attention seeking check , arrogant check , know it all check, loud, proud and obnoxious check. She is an embarrassment to all american woman and she even has the audacity to think she is entitled to speak for all of us and to be our voice on the world stage .. I don't know who gave her such authority but she doesn't speak for me or represent me in any form . I wish she would just stop it . Her faux act of pretending to be Dianna 2.0 is creepy and so is her fake humanitarian act . Markle cares for no one but herself and her acting is so bad people see right through her grift . Her speeches are so sugary fake and always focused on herself and how fantastic and wonderful she is , she uses the same buzz words and hand movements in every speech. And the sound of her voice is annoying and is like nails down a chalkboard to my hearing .
There's no way to top the Princess of Wales in that gold dress. HRH Prince William practically needed a bib, he couldn't take his eyes off her. Again, no need for claw hand-holding for those two. Class and passion were on parade at that premiere and no one needed it pointed out, it was obvious. Princess Catherine knew exactly what Prince William was thinking and she loved every second of it.
I'm hard-pressed to remember a time when Harry looked at Meghan like William looked at Catherine. Has he ever openly been stunned by her choice of clothing?
Lizzo's dress looked one deep breath away from a wardrobe malfunction.
(IMHO) some or most women have absolutely no modesty about them anymore. Why bother wearing anything? She looks atrocious in that red get up.
One of her boobs looked higher than the other. Not flattering and especially on a large breasted woman.

There’s no way in hell anyone will ever be able to convince me weighing this much is remotely healthy. Size acceptance is one thing but attempting to normalize something that is pathologically unhealthy is quite another.
Her boobs don’t look voluptuous in this dress, more like they are flat-ish and attempting to be bolstered up by an iron corset. Do these celebrities even own mirrors?

People in Hollywood (the real actresses and singers) have WAY too many "yes" people around them. The worst transgression (to me) regarding Lizzo, was that monstrosity of a see through derriere dress she wore at some sporting event. The Siren dress could have been successful if the bodice was fitted correctly. (Cover and hoist those puppies up!). I can't even with the vagina dress. Like I said, too many "yes" people sycophants in Tinsel City.
Same with the "petal" dress. In the voice of my grandma "No one needs to see THAT much of your business!" (RIP Gran). No words on the Markle dress, except she thinks she looks a million dollars in it. Which leads me to believe she has the magic mirror from Snow White in her dressing room.

The magic mirror did tell the queen she wasn't the fairest in the land anymore, so I think Meghan would have trouble with that one.

It’s sad that Carolina Herrera used to make such beautiful clothes, it changed a lot when she retired. These are all post Carolina herself.
Woke fashion of the 21st century. Anything that looks hidious and or makes you look like a street walker is high fashion now . And female/male empowerment. Any style that is classic , or well tailored is condemned because of the patriarchy and colonialism. Carolina's vintage is so, so classic and beautiful. Whomever is designing under her label is definitely not following her design aesthetic.
She designed Caroline Kennedy's wedding dress, which was beautiful.
Yes! She was timeless and classic. Very feminine yet powerful. Shame on this new artistic director.

I can only imagine that Carolina Herrera herself is appalled at these dresses. She is no longer the designer for the brand. Beebs, please check out her earlier work-very elegant and refined.
Thank you. I've wanted to point this out. She hasn't been the head designer of her eponymous label since 2018. Wes Gordon has been the designer. Herrera's designs were beautiful and they were always about real women. Yes, wealthy, strong women, but real ones. I don't find the same is true now.
Whoever is doing the sewing/fitting for those dresses is underqualified for the job.

The back of Harry’s head at the 14:56 mark cracks me up. I know a lot of men are sensitive about losing their hair, but he opened the door to criticism about his own bald spot when he publicly humiliated his brother. I love karma.
He'd look so much better with a buzz cut. And a decent shave.

Do you know who designed Maria Shriver's wedding gown? That was hideous beyond belief. I did like Caroline's gown. A simple design, shamrocks on the skirt as a fun touch, and it fit.

Honestly, I think you should do a top 10 best & worst of all different colors. Purple, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Black, Pink, etc…. There are some dresses and outfits that immediately come to mind when I think across the rainbow. Then, once you’ve gotten your best and worst, pick your all time favorites.
And Brown-so Meghan makes the list!🤣🤣🤣

Carolina Herrara designed beautiful garments. Since she retired, it's gone downhill fast. OTOH, Queen Letezia of Spain wears clothes from that studio and almost always looks wonderful. It's a matter of having innate personal taste and the ability to cherry pick the designs that work for you, are tasteful and appropriate. Megs has no personal taste and so falls victim to the "if its expensive/designer it must be good" school of ignorance. Pity.
And, "the tighter the dress, the better." Have we ever seen her in an outfit, dress or otherwise, in which she looked good?
_Queen Letitia_ is slim and trim. Well, _she_ can wear sculptural dresses; although some kind of dresses would NOT look good on her body type _because_ of her body type. 🤷

@666bbdoll, I totally agree. I just cannot wear a dress with bare legs, unless it is a sundress and sandals. I really hate that bare leg look with dresses, suits, etc., and most people, even young don't have perfect legs/skin.

I used to love Carolina Herrera...years ago...could never afford though. The label seems to have lost its way 😮
So many high end fashion houses are trashing it up lately. Google the Chanel outfit Billie Eilish wore to a red carpet event. It looked unbelievably gawdy and cheap, when Chanel has historically been synonymous with class and elegance. Dior seems to be one of the few houses still getting it right.

My only comment for all these dresses is ‘Why?!’
Please do a video of all the times MM didn’t dress correctly for the event and stuck out like a sore thumb. The red ball gown dress was, like you said, over the top for a military event. But there was also the many-layered tulle bird dress in Australia - in the background you can see the other women dressed in work suits and carrying tote bags. She’s always either overdressed for an event or underdressed for it. She’s either wearing winter clothes in the summer or summer clothes in the winter. She never seems to get it right. It’s absolutely bizarre. Thank goodness she’s no longer a working royal - one wonders what she would have shown up in at a State dinner.
Yes, that black dress was over the top. The pictures I saw of the other women at the same event were no where dressed so fancy.

@wheezysqueezebox7651 oh yeah. I was wearing a pair of sweats, sweats! And I said that they weren't comfortable enough. My hubby was accepting of my grumbling. I have physical disabilities and difficulties with certain things, especially when my hands decide not to work properly.
I look at meghan and just cringe. But I will critique an outfit for most anyone. I don't care if I like the person or not, if I think an outfit looks weird, or just wrong, I'll say so. But I can admit that someone who can put something together that I would never do might look really good. But again, what works for me, my body and coloring, might not work for you. Again, body type and coloring.
I think that MM wore that red disaster was because in her mind she was the guest of honor and she wore that ridiculous dress in honor of HER occasion.
I think anyone within eyeshot of Lizzo is always deeply grateful if she actually puts anything resembling clothes on at all. As for the Markle creature, it isn't just the dress that's aggressive, it perfectly reflects her raging inappropriate dark personality. The only thing missing from that outfit was a headband with horns. Maybe a pitchfork to finish the look.

It was funny when she said, “Maybe Carolina Herrera will get better over time,” about one of the most iconic luxury designers of all time. To be fair, Carolina Herrera herself (born in 1939) stopped designing for her namesake line in 2018, and it seems the new design lead is taking things in a different direction. It’s unfortunately not the designer’s fault when a celebrity insists on wearing a design that doesn’t look good on them; to me it seems the person’s stylist should be speaking up and getting the clothes tailored to ensure their client presents well.

I do not understand why a person would want to wear anything with their stuff hanging out everywhere. The trend in Hollywood seems to be wearing the least amount of material possible. Or even wearing an outfit that is 100% see through. It is absolutely disgusting.

The Carolina Herrera dresses appear to have basically the exact same top to them.other than The Meg having straps. The skirts were different in that one had a straight skirt with a slit and a poufy train starting at the waist while the other was straight part way down then had some volume and an added train starting somewhere around the knee. Strangely both dresses did not fit the wearers boobs and appeared to be digging into the top back and sides leaving muffin tops at the top sides of the bodice on both wearers. Apparently Herrera's people know nothing about tailoring or fit

There is a photo of Smegs on the palace balcony standing next to Her Majesty with a smug and sickly smirk on her face. Absolutely repulsive! I was ambivalent towards the Sharkles until she belittled Her late Majesty with that infamous vile mock curtsey. Since then, I have despised the pair of them.
I've just heard that the Sharkles demanded $5 from some of the poorest children in New York. Words fail me.

Yes-more red dresses, please! I can think of a couple of royals who’ve done stunning red dresses-Queen Letizia of Spain wore a gorgeous red dress to the Spanish State dinner at Buckingham Palace in 2017 (I think). Also the then Duchess of Cambridge (now Princess of Wales) wore a stunning red gown to the Chinese State Banquet in 2015 (again, I think the date is correct. Both women have worn some AMAZING red dresses. They would be a great starting point. Both are great examples of superb tailoring.

Your comments are welcome and spot on. It's very hard to find something to like about MM or Lizzo's outfits. They seem to go out of their way to make themselves look bad.
To be as morbidly obese as Lizzo is, you DEFINITELY need to go out of your way to stuff yourself with crap everyday, correct.
And for everyone who wants to crow 'body shame' at me - being morbidly obese is NOT an innate, immutable characteristic. It's very, very unhealthy, ALWAYS due to overeating, and losing weight would do her the world of good.

The tragedy is that red is possibly the most complimentary color people can wear, so many different shades, and it is a color that make anyone look like a stunner. Red brings in the passionate vibe, it’s eye catching, helps the person wearing red be a show stopper, it’s suppose to help those who wear this vibrant color. Yet, somehow these designers didn’t think twice of how their clients were walking out of their studio to become a laughing stalk with their names attached.

When I was scheduled to go before a disability judge, my attorney told me "Do not wear red." I wore blue, which projects trustworthiness.

Agreed with everything, Beebs. On the final dress, there is also something weird happening at the side seams as seen at 11:55. The blonde woman in the sapphire blue dress is wearing something much more suited to the occasion. The dress is very attractive to boot.
Regarding Meghan's first red dress, she also wore this sort of capelet on the occasion when she was seen with late Queen for the first time. That cream dress when she tried to get in the car ahead of the queen? Yeah, that time, with that dress that looked like she could only move her arms from the elbows down wearing it.

Could it be that Meghan shops online ? And she sees that the garment looks great on the model - then she tries it on and it needs to be tailored but there is no time

Ok, I just spent the last hour looking up red dress fails and oh boy, you have to do a part 2!!! But we need a best of too because there are some gorgeous dresses out there and women who know how to wear them. Amanda Seyfried in Armani kills it! In fact, I'm dead now, so I'm going to lie down. 😂

It is kind of like the dresses have been designed to make the wearer look at bad as possible. The feminine form can be a beautiful sight, but if you make the dress fit so that all of the rolls of flesh are showing with no real reason for doing so, just makes the feminine form suffer. They are not sexy. The dorky duchess excels, it seems at choosing her such clothing.
I think that many of these designs are basically used as an up your nose gesture. It makes me glad I will never have to see them again.

I would love another of these videos, I have been sewing for 50 years and have a professional qualification in pattern cutting and design, but we all know that there is always something new to learn, and I always learn from your videos, so more PLEASE. !!!! I do feel sad for the women who have allowed others to put them in dresses that anyone who liked or loved them, would not let them go out in, on a deeper level, it does speak to them having some serious body insecurity. One of the reasons I appreciate your videos is that you are always up beat and encouraging us all to dress to look and feel better, and we all know if we think we look good we are on top of the world.

Thank you Beebs for this video and your comments re the red dresses. These dresses which show the sagging bust are awful. Like the courtesans sitting in a window in Canal Street Amsterdam as they used to display their wares! The inappropriate events when these were worn particularly your final gown make the whole outfit scream!

Thanks for the info regarding Haute cuoture. I have always thoght those runway outfits are plain silly and unwearable but I enjoyed your analysis of them just as art. I recently saw the movie Mrs Harris goest to Paris, about the House of Dior in the 50s, and somebody makes the remark that some clothes are just meant to be beautiful and looked at which gave me a new point of view to admire them. But the CH dresses all look like variations of the same ill fitting red dress with the tatas bouncing. HAve a HAPPY weekend!
