I FINALLY got round to the remake after having it on steam for years. I remember as a kid only seeing the rock one, I was swore I saw a face on the rock once and wasn't making up stuff in my head. I had no idea about the unique animations at the time.
Thanks for taking the time to compile all of these! I have to say, these aren't nearly as impressive as the original SNES spell effects. They just aren't as flashy and lack a real punch. The sound effects aren't nearly as memorable, either. Needs more pizzazz.
Bandrik Thank you for taking the time to comment. It did take quite a long time to level everyone up. And I agree, the SNES animations were better. Especially level 9 animations.
Probably not. I've already leveled the characters up too high in this save file. After they reach a certain level, they don't get enough weapon experience for every player. It may still be possible to do level 8 animations for one character.
You can level up all the spirits in no time with this guide : 1 - picking a monster close to a INN, 2 - after casting the first spell, open the spell tab just after the animation of the spirit ends and cast the second spell and repeat. This will create a chain reaction that impedes the monster from dying. 3 - rests at INN when the MP runs out and repeat.
Right!? Shade's Dark Force was a beast when you hit that Max level cast. Thing had its own intermission it went so long, and the explosion sound went up a notch! 🔥

Destroyed all my childhood 😢 💔 😪

16 bit magic was always impressive and still holds up. Final Fantasy 4 is another example of great magic being degraded for the sake of 3D.
I wish someone would show off the progression of the spell animation changes. It's very subtle, but it does change a little from level to level
Cool. You gonna do one for all the weapon animations. I want to see all of the level 8 weapons.

wheres change form?
3:33 Shows the Change Form.
What a boss, I’m lvl 58 but my spirits are nowhere near as strong as yours 😵
You must level up the spirits individually casting spells until you reach level cap.

One note: this is a game breaker. You can use this chain magic exploit to kill bosses in one move.
The original was better ...
Much much better.
I agree.
WAAAAY better.
Aaactualy...you right
GOGOGOGOGOGO
The animations are way too fast. They are supposed to be special. And where are the flashy colours?
They managed to even miss the max magic effects. This remake is a flaming turd.

This remake was so mediocre. I really hope Trials of Mana HD will be better.
