When I first watched your video yesterday, I tried to speak and mimic your accent. I finally found a native British speaker in UA-cam. Although my roommate was very annoyed when I pronounce and mimic your accent. Haha. Cheers!
I live in New Zealand. English is my second language. I reckon many british english expressions are used in NZ. it was very useful video for me I just have subscribed your channel.

In my neck of the woods called Kuşadası, a small coastal town in the west coast of Turkey, there are loads of fabulous beaches worth seeing. Great lesson as usual, mate. Thanks a lot. 😊
I LOVE your channel! I’m actually French and studied British English in school (long time ago) but because of Netflix and tv series and the fact that as a non native I tend to mimic, I just started having an American accent. So this is perfect ! 😊
I've started watching your videos a week ago , and I learnt a lot . I really love the British accent 💕 I'm trying my best to improve it ❤️❤️❤️ thanks Elliott !
Cold Turkey-try to quit something completely Out in the sticks-live away from city Neck of the woods-your area, your location, where you are from Do/done a runner-to escape, to run away By the skin of my/your teeth-very close to not achieve goals
Elliot, i want to say 'THANK YOU!' for your podcasts! i really travel with you while listening to your podcasts! they are so interesting and enjoyable! wanna listen more podcasts of yours! thanks again!
Thanks a lot . You are a superb teacher on British accent. I am watching from Bangladesh. But at times, I fall in problem in listening what you are talking about. So would you give each video lessons with subtitles? If you kindly provide each video, then millions of learners will be greatly benifited who are non native speakers throughout the world .
Thanks for your amazing teaching. two practical idioms instead of using it's raining with cats and dogs/ >> it's tipping down with rain >> it's pissing down today
"a runner"... didn't know that one. In the USA, that may mean a foot chase with the police too lol. Great video! You're voice is relaxing as heck! Keep up the great work Elliott!
I wanted to tell you that I think this is your best look with your hair in this video. You have many different looks in your videos, but you’re lucky enough to have hair that you can do anything at all with it and it still looks good.
Hi Elliott, a have a question from tbis video. Is "neck of the woods" an informal expression? Thank you so much for your content, it's extremely helpful for us students. Greetings from Spain.
I learned British English when I began speaking English. Born in Ceylon before the name change and then moved to England when I was two. Relocated to the United States when I was 10 1/2 and was teased about my English accent and retrained in American English. My pronunciation changes at home when I talk to my parents though - more British sounding but with a sing-song Ceylonese intonation. And they use words no longer used in modern Britain -- dickey for boot (of a car); spectacles or specs instead of "glasses". Also, cinema instead of "the movies" and biscuit instead of "cookie". I've noticed a fair number of American words and phrases have crept into British English - " out in the sticks", for example, is an American expression. So is "cold turkey".
Elliott is your-go-to person when all of a sudden you forget how to sound like a modern RP. Truth be told, I've been listening to your channel and podcast long before I decided to move and work here in LDN and I love the English for your kindness and their various accents especially here within the SE / Southwark area. 💙
Hi Elliott :) Happy new year to you and your family! Could you please make a video in which you share your favourite books/recommend some books and read excerpts from them? Love from Singapore, keep up with the amazing videos :~)
Wish you every success in 2020. As you mentioned ‘isn’t it‘ In this lesson I wonder if you could do a lesson on ’Question Tags‘?In my native language, we use it a lot but we use ‘isn’t it‘ almost for all question tags and I know it does’nt work like that in English so it would be amazing to learn it from you as I really enjoy your lessons, thank you.
