This stream is worth it for the Robber Crab appearance alone. I don't know if they have some special significance, like if they're a meme or something, and I've never seen them before, but they're beautiful. They're perfect. I love them so muchhh

SaltyBet is one of the only things keeping me from being completely burnt out on MUGEN. That and all of the really cool full projects where all of the characters are made by the same people and really consistent like Famicom Fighters, Vargverse, Capcom vs The World, etc
The Skullgirls review bombing thing reminds me a lot of what happened with LISA: Definitive Edition, albeit on a smaller scale. So, Definitive Edition was published by Serenity Forge (the same people who published Doki Doki Literature Club+), and it was intended to release on most major consoles. However, they made a few very minor changes that ruffled people's feathers for about a day when changes were revealed to be happening. There were a few minor dialogue changes to some black characters to be a little less racy (though the jokes were fairly tame even before the change, and I feel like it was just to be extra super safe). In addition, in the PlayStation version only (and far more humorously than the dialogue changes), the drug Joy is no longer referred to as a pill, Cigarettes are referred to as Candy Cigarettes by the game, and Whiskey is renamed to Soda in situations where a minor can potentially drink it. Every other aspect of the game is identical, and it's just name changes to coincide with PlayStation's ToS. It was clearly just a quick once-over to make sure that they could sell it on Play Station consoles, and it wasn't some grand censorship effort. Nevertheless, some select people immediately came out of the woodwork for a brief moment to yell about how "I oppose censorship in all its forms", even on the Steam version, which had around two dialogue lines, ten pixels, and a sound effect changed, and that's literally it.
Ohhhhh yeah! I remember that! They changed a dudes lips, and changed a noise from a monkey noise to an Elephant! I thought it was super stupid with how people were getting mad about it, like the context of the joke where they changed it remained the same bro

Some clarification on the Skullgirls controversy: Most people's issue with the censorship was that it was a pretty thinly veiled attempt to sanitize the company's image after word broke out that two women on the team conspired to play up Mike Z's autistic (not derogatory) attempts at flirting with an erotic cosplayer (who messaged him first and has her own history of actual sex pest-ery) as sexual harassment. And I'm not using the term conspire loosely, Mariel Cartwright and her coworker would privately discuss how they could angle the situation in a way to oust Mike, take Lab Zero Games, and leave him with the company's debts (this is real and the Slack chats are available to read as evidence in his lawsuit against the new company led by Cartwright, Future Club). Other instances cited to portray Z as a sex pest/bad guy include his frequent discussion of porn at work (which would be really bad if it weren't for the fact this was a totally normal thing in their particular workplace as several of the team's artists were legitimate porn artists who would also discuss it openly) and a George Floyd joke made in bad taste on stream (that he would immediately apologize for, make of that what you will). Most, if not all, of Mike Z's weirder interactions can be chalked up to his autism, and many (including myself) saw the whole situation as a pretty disgusting display of leveraging MeToo to oust a man from his own company. If people took genuine issue with things like "Nazi imagery" (red armbands), police brutality (this is actually integral to Big Band's character and removing it was silly), and a few frames of a character's panties (frames that were willfully drawn by the same artists who are now backpedaling), then why wait over ten years to make these changes? And if the employees did have an issue with it, why wait almost two years after ousting the big bad Mike Z before implementing them (interestingly they were made around the same time as SG was coming back to EVO and word of the lawsuit broke out). It all comes off as super disingenuous and attempting to trivialize it with sweeping statements as "they removed panty shots and Nazis, and if you disagree with that decision you are [insert whatever insult you think will discredit the other person]" only makes the whole situation worse. I only care about this so much because I preordered the game and played it from day one, so seeing all that genuine talent and passion leave over the years is pretty sad. I urge anyone curious to look into the Mike Z lawsuit to see just how badly managed the whole situation is.
