Checking Out a Floating Home in Nelson, BC!

- In this Adventure in Penelope we make it to Nelson BC where we meet up with a friend from high school who has built his own off-grid floating home on the Kootenay Lake. It is amazing and wonderful and we couldn't wait to show it to you. Our friend, Jason, is also an accomplished sailer and is part of the a group called the Kootenay PeddalWheelers. They are planning to take part in a water race called the Race 2 Alaska in their sailboat, Amurskaya, which they will peddal 750 miles from Port Townsend, WA to Ketchican, AK. Unfortunately, the race to Alaska has been delayed until 2022 due to Covid but we will all anxiously await the Kootenay Peddalwheelers push to the finish line!

We love this place too. It is such a labour of love for him. We've had a moveable houseboat before the Beaver and it was absolutely the most fun for that time in our lives but it did limit the places we could go. This is a real home though. Jason is such an innovative person and that sailboat with peddals is amazing. We can't wait to see how their race goes. Thanks for watching
