After the release of Slipknot's self titled album, it was replaced with a new version that removed two of its tracks: Purity and Frail Limbs Nursery. This was due to an issue with a crime website. Here is a look at what happened.

Hey! At 2:23, I drew that! My drawings are a little better now, haha! Fun fact: In 2000-2001, Roadrunner UK asked me to draw a few Slipknot drawings for digital wallpaper on their site. I drew that piece and a couple others in exchange for a box of CD's and maybe $50. It was my first "paying gig" and I felt like I was on top of the world. Great video!
Do u remember the RockToons website with its fan drawings of bands? Did u ever have a hand in drawing any of those masterpieces?

That drawing of Slipknot crucifying Fred Durst was the cover of my binder in middle school. Teachers were not too fond of it and kept confiscating it. But i had lots of copies and each day I'd come back with a new one and eventually they gave up.
so these memories came rushing back because of your comment. I also had a binder in middle school that was dedicated to photos taken from kerrang, revolver and the like. The one with kud (mudvayne) with a bullet hole in his forehead got me fucked with by teachers a lot so I swapped it for a cool pic of joey (slipknot) in his iowa era mask and dark green jumpsuit.
@@hacksbeenjamin the Kudd picture was/is legendary. Fuckkkk i miss Mudvayne. I was just blasting L.D. 50 on my way home from work today. A true masterpiece in my opinion. I always feel like the music possesses me and throws me back to my youth. If only for a while.
I had the Kiss logo scrawled on my notebook covers and my teachers thought the two S's were Nazi/SS logos on more than one occasion.
That was drawn by Dave Correia. He posted a comment about it if you scroll a little way down. Awesome sick artist!

the name “Frail Limb Nursery” sounds so metal

I actually 'found' Slipknot at a rough time in my life, and I realized that the anger in the music is really cathartic, and it helped me through it, being able to empty out that anger in me without doing it in a way that would be destructive.
Same dude.
Same here. Metal music and horror movies go hand in hand with coming to terms with horrors you've experienced or finding what it is that scares you, thinking through it and basically overcoming the fear. Long live the knot
Slipknot and Linkin Park are the saviors
Linkin Park /Slipknot opened my door to all kinds of metal/rock genres I'm obsessed with now. Big part of my life, same feelings here. The bands just popped out when I needed them in my early teens. I'll never let metal elitists tell me bullshit. Slipknot brought so many young people to good music.
@@thrashbin2001 I couldn't say it better myself
Oh. My. God. I never knew the Purity story was fake. I'm not a Slipknot fan, but someone told me the story behind the song once in high school and it terrified the shit out of me. Finding out it's fake is such a weight of my mind. That has haunted me for years!
I still have my Ozzfest 99 ticket stub. In 98, a dude at a record store gave me a 2 song sampler cassette with Surfacing and Spit it Out. Must have played it at least 1000 times that year.
I had the same sampler cassette, wish I still had it.

The note that the boy gave to the killer that somehow managed to end up in a library book was probably the clincher.
The story sounded "off" right away.

"You can't see California without Brando's eyes" is way of saying Hollywood favors the attractive and it's far too expensive to enjoy the State without Hollywood star earnings. It doesn't matter where it came from but it fit so perfectly for the contents of the song eyeless.
I really like that quote
Yep, I'd also say that this is pretty much it.
Corey said in an interview that a hobo said that to them lol
They did literally say a hobo was just screaming it at them... yeah sure you interpret it like that, and you’re not wrong (because that’s how interpretation is).

I’ve heard this story a lot being a slipknot fan and it’s cool to see someone cover it. I remember wondering what purity was about on my first listen and thinking it was super disturbing when I looked into the lyrics.

Purity knight is simultaneously the most bad ass, and cringy name I have ever heard
Like an Amish version of Supergirl
I was thinking this. For a real, legal or birth name, it's pretty sick imo. But as a username it's lame as fuck. Funny how that works.
Also all the people saying the name was so fake and clearly a giveaway. I knew a girl named "Tonight" and always thought that was so weird.
There are way weirder names out there, and as another comment pointed out, people were and have named their kids Harmony and shit like that and it wasn't or isn't that unusual or exceptionally uncommon.
Sounds like a Lemony Snicket character.

I would've thought that the song was about Colleen Stan (a real person) who was kidnapped while hitch-hiking and keep in a box, first in a basement, then under the bed of her kidnappers (a husband and wife team). They kept her for 20 years. There's a book titled "Girl in a Box". It's her story of survival.

Right, cause a 9y.o. boy would never run straight home and tell his parents, that he found a WOMAN IN A BOX.
Or when the kid was like, omg your in a box, I can see your in desperate need of some art supplies, I'll be back with a slice of paper and a crayon. What not your medium, I'll bring back my speak and spell, and you can lay down some vocals.
Yeah, and the Israel shit and the murder of her sister is sus too.
I don't know. I could see a kid telling his friends, but not his parents. Scared he would get in trouble.

Naw man I saw a kid on this one TV show and he found a dead man in a freezer box and he said nothing to his parents. TV doesn’t lie
Purity is my favorite song that I used to listen to growing into my teen years. Always thought the song was about a person suffering internally, emotional disabled, and confused by the many face around as I felt as a kid. But I also heard of this lady buried in a box, which I thought all referenced to being dead inside. My perspective and take on the song as a listener.

Right? I've known about this for like 20 years. Still a captivating story.
I love how hilariously relevant the music in your videos is. If there's police or detectives involved, it's Deja Vu. If there are trials or court cases, it's the Chrono Trigger court trial music. Keep up the good stuff, Justin.
did not think Faulkner would factor into this, but I'm strangely glad he did
Purity was absolutely one of my fave songs on that album. Alongside Sic, Eyeless and Surfacing (the latter being the song which got me, a Limp Bizkit fan, to finally give Slipknot the time of day, and is still my fave Slipknot song to this day)

I remember getting that self titled album in 2003 and being confused when I downloaded a song called Purity from KaZaA, which was labeled as being on that album, and yet my copy didn't have it. I haven't thought about that for almost 2 decades but it's neat to have an old mystery solved out of the blue.
Kazaa was awesome
Apparently my family has had the og release since 99 and I grew up not knowing this story til now lol
Shoutout to that quick sampling of earthbound. Also - you seem like a really cool dude. Would totally have a beer with. Subscribed. 👍🏻
All this ridiculous story aside, this is actually one my fav slipknot songs. The haunting chorus, Joey’s drum intro (rip) and that guitar riff, on top of Sid’s record scratching in the later half of the intro is absolutely phenomenal…
Other creators: I now have a Youtooz!
Whang: Only if it comes with the jar. My fans want the jar.
of course we want the jar with it, we have high standards
The jar, the scissors, and the box. The holy trinity.
I remember when I was around 14 I ordered a copy of the album from Amazon for five bucks. Later on, I was talking about it with a friend who is a massive Slipknot fan and when I started talking about Frail Limb, he was like "Wait, you have Frail Limb and Purity on there?" I said I did and he told me that those songs were removed on later releases and that I had one of the original copies. It goes for like $50 now.
I had a copy like yours, purchased it in early '00s and for some stupid reason, I lent it to my younger brother's (at the time) girlfriend. You can imagine what happened a few months later -- they broke up, and I've _never_ seen that disc again.
Decades later, I am still kicking myself over it.
I've learned my lesson the hard way, I am never lending books or CDs ever again.
Purity appears to be now a staple for the album as its on the 10th anniversary release but frail limb doesn't seem like it's ever seeing public light again (at least as an official track)
@@HorrorUberAlles Damn dude, you lost your CD and didn't even get some sloppy toppy, now that's a crime.
