The Depot a LOT BIGGER than Expected..! Central Rivers TMD - Barton Under Needwood

This one surprised me a lot..! Central Rivers TMD is one of those depots that doesn't get a lot of press and flies under the radar for most enthusiasts - Likely because it's main purpose is to service the Class 220 & 221 Voyager fleets which aren't the most well liked units out there!
The depot has been open since 2001 so it's just over 20 years old now - It's a lot bigger than I expected and looks to be modern (should be for the age) and carries plenty of capacity. It'll be interesting to see how this depot is re-purposed over the next few years as the Voyager fleets start to get wound down.

Other reason it gets little coverage is you can't see it from anywhere around the outside.

Interesting that the roof on most is weathered down one side predominantly.

I noticed that also - I’m assuming this is due to them being stabled consistently in the same location with canopy cover over the one side.

It's to do with the exhaust stack coming out of one side of the roof only, so all the soot goes along one side most of the time

It’s unclear if XC are interested to take on the extra voyagers now that 2 have come off service with Avanti it’ll be more clear when Beacon rail (who own the 220’s and 221’s) reveal it at some point
