Very well done ive got into lego investing the last 6 months i have gone over board a bit but its been a distraction as im caring for my mum with dementia. Your videos got me into lego again thank you
You set up is so professional , I am looking to start doing fairs next year so may see you at one of them although I am north west based, do enjoy your videos, I also do have over 45 years in retail so setting up at a fair should be well within my capabilities.
Hi Nigel. Thanks for watching.
I'm sure your experience will come invert useful when it comes to these sorts of events.
Very well done ive got into lego investing the last 6 months i have gone over board a bit but its been a distraction as im caring for my mum with dementia. Your videos got me into lego again thank you
Hi Martin. It is easy to get carried away, but it can be very rewarding. Thanks for watching
Woke up this morning to see your Southampton results video and realised I hadn’t caught up with this yet!!
Was a great event and obviously the biggest news is I’ve made it into a UA-cam video without even knowing!! 😂 I know we spoke about being in a video and that the event was so bloody busy we ran out of time … but just as you start walking round and talk about there entrance and queue, there I am bent over pricing my sets on the left hand side!! 😳 But the funniest bit, is towards the end when you show it getting quieter, you see me start walking towards you to jump into the video … but then realised how unprofessional that would be!! 🤪
Look for to the results video later when I’m back from work!! 👍
Hi Lee,
Yes, it ended up being very busy, but managed to get you in the background a couple of times!
Posted the round up video quite late last night, so I'm guessing most people will watch that later today.
@@iainsbricks I’ll jump in the next one we’re together at, but nice to make it into this one!! 🤪
I’ll definitely be onto to that video later, looking forward to it!!
Was great to meet you at the event! You’d sold nearly everything by the time I got round to your table haha
Good to meet you too.
I was amazing how quickly everything sold.
Looks like you had a good day Iain and enjoyed yourself. I think your prices are very good and competitive. Even as a fellow Lego Investor , i would of picked up a couple of items from you. Looking forward to the follow up price break down video Iain. Cheers mate.
Thanks Wayne - it was a verygood day - its always hard work but can be very rewarding in many ways.
I'll probably do a round up video over the weekend.
Hi Ian,
The style is called „Pop Art“, I suppose
Best regards from Germany
Kai
Thanks Kai. The are looked great.
I’m glad you had a good day. I’m sure it’s a nice feeling when you can repack the car very quickly. After all this selling it can only lead to one thing - more haul videos! 👍
Thanks Simon. Yes, it is good when you sell everything as packing the car back up again doesn't take long at all!
I expect there will be quite a few haul videos in May!
*Pedro Pascal was the actor that is in the art next to Nicolas Cage*
Thanks. I always forget his name. Very good actor though.
@@iainsbricks Yes indeed. Great video. Would love to attend a Lego convention one day in the UK and bump into you haha. I'm from Belgium!
Another great video and congrats on selling most of your Lego sets. I think I heard you say about the Jaws boat and Lego doing that, if so I think it will have to be on my list to buy! 🤣
Thanks Lucy - yes, the Jaws boat will be made into a Lego Ideas set, probably towards the end of the year
Great to finally meet you yesterday, (and get the giant wooden Minifigure, the Research Institute and a bunch of baseplates from you!)
It was a VERY busy event, but great fun!
Great to meet you too. Thanks for coming back to have a chat, once things had calmed down a bit. My feet hurt today, but it was all definitely worth it.
@@iainsbricks Your poor feet, you looked like you were very grateful of that chair when I came back!
And, yes a few other sellers who I chatted to said that it was a VERY profitable show.
Hope to bump into you again sometime... maybe on a launch day in the s'hampton store!!!
Yes, my poor little feet were in need of a rest by the afternoon.
I think all of the traders did very well at this event.
Hats off to the Brick Festival team for promoting the event so well.
Hi ian did you sell the blue vw camper set yet.regards martin
Hi Martin. Yes, I actually has 2 of the mini VW Beetle sets, and they both sold.
Keith Haring is the artist of the style which you are looking for.
Thank you.
I'm pretty sure the pop art pictures are from artist is Keith Haring or in his style.
Yes, thanks - a few people have mentioned that name and I think you are right. I definitely recognise the style, but didn't know the artists name.
Did Ian Gonzalez have a social media? Love his mocs!!
I didn't notice anything I'm afraid
11:11 Those are in Keith Haring's style ; )
Thank you
Thanks Iain for letting me know 👏
No problem
I can't believe you sold all that Iain! Do you have a background in retail/customer service? (I.e. being good with people)
Even I was surprised how much I sold.
I used to work as a waiter in Pizza Hut in the mid to late 1990s
@@iainsbricks
Lol ok cool and I remember the "all you can eat and drink promos from that era at Pizza Hut - I was a student in the late 90s and ate so much at Pizza Hut one evening with my girlfriend, that I felt really bloated and ill afterwards!! 🤢🤢😅
That Lego art you were unsure looks very like what Keith Haring done.
Thanks Alistair - yes, that's the artist I was thinking about. I definitely recognised the style of art, but didn't know his name. Much appreciated
Hello, found your video by accident. Loved the content. QQ do you sell sealed sets or are they sets you’ve built and then selling on? Just curious as I have some HP sets that I built and then they are just sitting in the cupboard.
Sealed
All the sets I sell at the moment are new and sealed, but there is definitely a market for used sets.
Do you have any contact details for the organiser. I'm trying to get a stall at the Maidstone and Brighton events .thanks
The only email I have is for Zoe Finch who appears to be the main admin person for Brick Festival, however getting a reply from Brick Festival can be very hit and miss. zoe@showmastersevents.com
@@iainsbricks thank you.
I have messaged them via the advertised sites. But no response.
I will try zoe
Great to be there 😁
Excellent. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video and thank you for the kind comments for the stand and set up. It was a great show. Hope to see you at a show soon :)
Hi. Glad you had a good event. It was excellent to see so many sets all stacked up so neatly. The stall looked great.
No problem. The stall looked great
@@iainsbricks it's a lot easier when they are all the same :)
Pedro Pascal was the lego art you didnt know!
Thanks - I can never remember his name.
I've been an AFOL for a long time and now able to pass this on to my son but have never attended an event before.
We attended the Southampton Brick Festival and I have to admit... I was extremely disappointed. Not in the sellers/exhibiters (great pieces and great displays) but at the organisation of the event.
It was jam-packed. It would take about 5-10 minutes to get anywhere near an exhibiter table and there were grown adults pushing past my young son qeueing with me which was pretty rude! We managed to get a few pieces towards the end of the when it had slightly quietened down but have to say, the whole thing was pretty stressful. I think the organisers should have allocated timeslots for AFOLs without kids and then families.
The real kicker though was that we signed up for our little one and his friend to compete in the build in the bag event. The guy at the sign up desk told us to go to the event for 2.15pm.
We arrived at 2.10pm and they were announcing the final call for people who signed up. We put our hand up and called the lady organising it who actually shushed my partner and told her to wait. They then went on to explain that they would give any empty spaces to anyone who hadn't signed up. We interjected and stated we already signed up - she checked our names and said "well you should have been here at 2.10pm (which we were when she shushed us) and then proceeded to say there was nothing she could do as the other lady was already seating other kids who didn't pre-register.
We were left with two crying children who just didn't want to do anything else and we ended up leaving - not ideal for something you've paid for :(
Hi Jordan, sorry to hear abyour experience at the Brick Festival.
It may be worth contacting the people at the Brick Festival to let them know about your experience.
@@iainsbricks ty - I did send them a message via their website :) Just a shame as I said, exhibitors and sellers were great - could have been spaced out a bit more and managed on time slots to prevent crowding (did manage to get a brief look at the muppets show display and heard people talking about the Marvel end game scene but couldn't see it anywhere).
@@jordanm4278
It sounds like it could do with some decent security there
Security certainly was lacking. I walked in and out about 5-6 times and only had my hand stamp checked once
@@jordanm4278
Well I personally wouldn't let adults push kids around, but I'm well training in martial arts and look after myself. I know everyone is not able to physically challenge people.
11:14 they are by an artist called Keith harring
Thanks
@@iainsbricks it's all good bro
Wow - looks like it was a great day! Love your idea for how to display your polybags. I have an IKEA display board to try and do something similar. And absolutely love that Fred knew you had sets in your wheel well - made me chuckle!
Thanks - yes it's a simple technique for the polybags but it seems to work well.
My mind was all over the place yesterday and I obviously had a senior moment. I'd totally forgotten that I'd put a load of sets in my wheel well. Good job Fred remembered!
Lovely to meet you yesterday - I bought the Lego Architecture set and very, very nearly succumbed to the lure of the wind turbine...
Hi Louise. Great to meet you too, and thanks for your purchase.
Hope you had an enjoyable day.
Ian's Bricks merch coming soon?
Maybe...
@@iainsbricks
Maybe people might spell your name right, then 😅
It was great meeting you yesterday & buying the lovely Doctor Who goodies from you! It was a really fun busy event. Congrats on selling nearly all of your stock 🎉
Hi Vicky. Great to meet you too. Thanks for buying those sets from me. I hope you had a good day at the festival
Good to see you did so well.
It is a shame you’re not going to be back at this venue later in the year because it would have been interesting to see a comparison to how well you did this time. I wonder if it was so crowded because it was the first time they did a Brick Festival in Southampton and would it be the same next time.
Thanks Barry.
The venue was great, however the Leisure centre was also busy with regular folk using the gym and swimming pool, which meant that appearing was a bit of a nightmare, despite the car park being rather large.
I suspect that it was busy due to the time of year and also it being the first Brick Festival event there so it may be that the event later in the year may not be quite as busy.
What a great day for you. I think we have your weather now. Great for Lego building.
Thanks Caron. It was a very busy day but definitely worth it.
Well done on selling g so much… It was also really busy at Walsall. It just proves that people want to buy sets that are correctly priced
Thanks Adam. Good to hear Walsall was busy too.
Yes, despite times being a little more challenging at the moment, there are still lots of Lego fans willing to buy sets at the right price.
Hi Iain, it was good to see you today (orange hoodie, brought a star wars helmet). I'm glad to see you did well. Enjoyed the event and thank you for the chat.
Hi - great to meet you yesterday. Glad to hear you had a good day. Enjoy building the Scout Trooper.
Congratulations Iain well deserved. Looking forward to your round up. I bet the houses of the world got snapped up instantly 👌
Thanks Jai. Yes, the houses of the world did all sell.
Wow that is a very empty table indeed, great that you had such a succesful day ☺️
Thanks Peter. I'm absolutely shattered still today, but it was all worth it.
Cracking to meet you on Sunday Iain, it’s Iain here, thanks for sharing my builds bud! I look forward to seeing you again at more shows!
Hi Iain - good to meet you too. That pirate ship was absolutely amazing.
Saw your picture in the Southampton Echo as well!
@@iainsbricks ha ha yeah, that was a bit of surprise that one :)
I went and Said Hello and got an item but I’m definitely going to try and go to the Bournemouth one in September
Hi there - I hope you enjoyed the event.
Unfortunately I've not been able yet toget a traders table for Bournemouth. They may release more tables closer to the event date.
Thanks for sharing footage of the event. Well done in selling almost everything!!!!!
Thanks for watch.
Wow. The T2, Donkey Kong and Short Circuit are awesome!!!
Yes, someone the moc builders are so talented in what they can make with Lego.
Definitely UA-cam helps you to sell a bit more ❤
Yes, I think it does. Plus I try and keep my prices fairly reasonable
@@iainsbricks that's so true. I'm aware of prices and can tell that yours are reasonable 😉 Happy for you that your journey with reselling is good to you 😊
Good to meet you, hoped to grab the Lego house set from you but the guy infront of me got it ahha.
Good to meet you too. Sorry about that.
Great to see you again Iain. Thanks for taking the time to chat during what was a busy day for you. Was a great show with plenty to buy and see. Thanks also for putting aside the Speed champs 👍🏻
Cheers, Clayton
Hi Clayton, great to meet you too. Hope you enjoy building the Aston Martin DB5.
I'm still knackered from yesterday, but it was all defworth it.
@@iainsbricks 😂 Thanks mate. Hopefully a restful day today 👍🏻
I was there!!!!!
Hope you enjoyed your day.
@@iainsbricks I most certainly did
The plastic covers add a touch of sophistication 😆 😄
Thanks. It takes me rime to put them on, but they look really good.
that was a very successful show for you, wonderful.
Thanks. My feet hurt today, buy it was definitely worth it
Wowzers what a show! Looks like you did really well 😄
Thanks Darren. I had a fabulous day - my feet hurt today, but it was definitely worth it.
For a moment I thought you said Beastleigh
Lol!
*Title should be plural "sets" 😉
Oops! My bad. I was a bit tired when putting the video together
Fantastic,well done. Great video Thankyou.
Matt from Dorset
Thanks Matt
@@iainsbricks Hi Ian , will you be ordering any May the 4th sets in the early hours shortly? I have my list sat in front of me!
Hope the site does not crash.
Good luck with your purchases👍
@@jedibrick2937 Yes, I willbe placing a few orders. I still need to get myself prepared to figure out what I'm buying!
Why do you think seinfeld didn’t sell? Did you have a few?
Seinfeld was never that popular a TV show in the UK (unlike, say Friends which was popular here) so despite only having the one set, I suspect it may take a while to sell that on.
@@iainsbricks love sienfeld and has great Easter eggs in the set
Well done on a good day Iain, looked amazing.
Thanks Wayne. I'm absolutely shattered still, but it was all definitely worth it.
no way, I was volunteering there yesterday!
Hope you enjoyed your day.
@@iainsbricks yea was brilliant! But soooo tiring and barely had a minute rest
Congratulations
Thanks Charlotte
Wow! A huge success
Thanks David. It certainly was. All the other traders had a very successful day too.
You sold the wind turbine!!! 👏
I did! It sold later on in the day. I do have one more at home to sell at the next event though.
And the Friends Apartment too. Good result!
