I watched your recent Brick Fest Live video and clicked on this one just for comparison. Despite wanting Legos as a kid, I've never actually owned any, so I'm not a collector in any way, shape, or form, and I think I still would have had a blast at this convention. The difference between this & BFL is mind-boggling. Thank you for sharing both experiences.
I think the stand with the reasonably priced shrink wrapped sets was Iain’s Bricks. If so, he’s totally transparent about what he paid for sets. He posts UA-cam videos about his acquisitions all the time. Highly recommend his YT channel.
Amazing to see so many retired sets still available to buy. I need to book one of those events soon and check if i can find a few sets I'd like to add to my collection
The stall at time 15:01 is Brick Bros the guys run a lovely little market stall full of Lego every Saturday near where I live. They are fab as they raise money for Great Ormond st
Totally agree with the comment that the vendors are hiking up the prices of the retired sets. Just because they are retired doesn’t mean they are rare. Best to look around for preloved sets with a few pieces missing and buy any missing parts needed to complete the set. Much better value for money.
Convention prices are notoriously over inflated, you’ll very rarely find a bargain there you won’t find cheaper on eBay or similar - there’s definitely some price gouging going on. Edit: nailed it with the comment about shopping at the end of the day to save money though, also, don’t be afraid to barter, or ask for a deal on a multi buy and offer cash if you can.
We're on holiday for that one, but we're planning on going to the Peterborough Brick Festival in June and another National Brick Event in Northampton in July. Might even head down to to the Reading Brick Show later this month because that seems like a big one.
If you're planning to build these sets just buy second hand. Most of these high prices will be down to box condition as some people love to keep sets boxed and sealed and any scuff/crease etc will devaule and people will pay a premium for mint boxes. FB marketplace and eBay bundles are your best bet for bargains, especially if you don't mind near complete sets as spares are readily available.
Wow amazing pickups! Not sure if you've already explained as I'm new to this channel but how do you afford to buy all these sets? Do you save up? What's your strategy?
I will be at Walsall as a trader next week. I used to do Brick Festivals, but they were overbooked and over priced. I only do this as a hobby to fund my Lego addiction, and to clear out any old sets I don't have room for. Some traders are insulting buyers with the prices, you will always pay a little more, but some are ridiculous.
Hi, I just happened across this video after watching your brickfest live video. What a disappointment the brickfest show looked glad I didn’t go. Anyway onto this video… my family and I were in it. We were running the raffle stall with the yellow Liebherr crane on it. I am wondering it you had a go at winning it ? If you see us at another show come over and say hello. We were raising money for the National Autistic Society and did quite well. Thanks.
You would think they’d be open to offers there too since most things are cheaper on eBay and they’re going to lose money selling online with eBay and PayPal fees.
i went to a similar convention last year around May in Liverpool. Found the same inflated prices like you did. I have one retired modular. I picked up the Corner Garage from Amazon for about £240. I know I payed over the odds put I've always been a bit afraid to buy off ebay. I did get a retired yellow lego truck from around 2010 off bricklink which worked out okay for me. I have my eye on the Brick Bank and the Downtown Diner to add to my collection at some stage.
You are much better off with the shows organised by LUGs rather than commercial ones. Usually more models and builders based than sellers but they do have sellers that are much more reasonably priced.
I had the Lego Simpsons house when it first came out, built it then gave it to a friends children. Kicking myself now after hearing the price they’re going for 😢
Yeah, all the Simpsons stuff is worth loads now. Even just the minifigs from that set are probably worth more now than what the set originally retailed for!
Good to see you at the convention! I recognised you from UA-cam from your FM series! It’s always an interesting thing around pricing at these places. As one of the sellers at these events I tend to set my prices around current online prices since nowadays most people have the technology in their hands to quickly do a price check! Now that I know you are into Lego you tick 2 of my hobbies !
That's a good buy. I think it comes with a BD-1 mini figure that people will be after now that Lego has released a Cal Kestis one with the incoming new Star destroyer set. Enjoying the channel and your city progress. Great stuff! 👍
I went here with my daughter, arrived at 10am. My expectations sadly were not met. Thought all sets were overpriced and have to agree with you in that they’re trying to catch people who don’t know values. For anyone in attendance a quick google search would’ve shown how overpriced the sets were. Disappointing
@@blockpartyuk 😂😂just a bit . Just started back with Lego as I stopped some 45 years ago but since my stroke I was looking for something to help with my damaged hand as Lego which is so frustrating but helps with control and pressure. So I don’t have the problem with expensive sets yet otherwise I’d have people complaining I’m wasting benefit cash . So I’m only smaller boxes. I do enjoy the pictures on the boxes from a pop culture point but they have to go . But again there’s no right or wrong. Just been learning about mils plates just in the case of me getting a wish for a city one day.
As a northerner, seeing a Greggs bakery in a MOC build makes me so proud. 🤣
Lego City is releasing a crane this summer. Supposed to be one of the biggest to date.
Oooooh

Yes, we are very different from Brick Fest Live! Thank you 👍
Thanks for coming to our event! We'd love to have you back at one soon! 👍

We’ll check him out.
Iain’s bricks wasn’t there today.

You should!
Thanks for showing us around the convention! You got some awesome sets there 😀 Happy building!
Thank you
Well done on the Seasme Street that's a retired one.

theres a smaller carousel in the lego birmingham store for about £30
I’ll have a look next time I’m in!
You can still pick up Winnie the Pooh for £90-£100
I’ve been looking at the corner garage and sesame street for a while
I love the modulars. Bagged a bargain at start of this year! They are very pricey sold in festivals.

Thanks for the info!
Was there once a Lego range of track and cars, a bit like Hot Wheels, and another similar to Subuteo?
Managed to pick up the same droid in GAME for £72. Definitely worth checking your local from time to time as they had a couple of retired sets.
Some cool pick ups!!
Milton Keynes has brick festival on 6th May.
We're on holiday for that one, but we're planning on going to the Peterborough Brick Festival in June and another National Brick Event in Northampton in July. Might even head down to to the Reading Brick Show later this month because that seems like a big one.
@@blockpartyuk ah nice!! There seems to be quite a lot of Lego shows now which is cool
Wow - lots of cool sets - I agree - price increase at these events. Nice job on holding back

Block Party, You're the best! I just had to subscribe!
Welcome aboard!
Cost takes the fun out of it now

hi kevin , ive most of the modular building sets that im looking to move on
That lego disney castle is the 1st release. The one currently in stores is a re-release
Came here to write the same. That was set number 71040 which is now retried.
I was about to say the same, but scanned down comments first, to see if anyone had beaten me to it… and you had!

As a seller at some of these events. I would always look at the smaller stalls for better prices. They have a show in Lincoln in June
Yeah, we figured that out eventually!

kev + lego = a happy me
The Lego house set price is shocking considering you can buy it on the Lego website currently for over half of that price
You would think they’d be open to offers there too since most things are cheaper on eBay and they’re going to lose money selling online with eBay and PayPal fees.
I’m sure they probably are. But I’m far too British to haggle!
It's bloody expensive to have trade tables at these conventions, that's why prices for sets are so expensive

Very nice!
The Disney castle you mentioned early on mate isn't available at retail as its the retired one 😅
The big crane was on offer at smyths as of 14/4 well at hull it was
Yeah, it’s still so expensive though…
Winnine the pooh set check Argos 😉
You are much better off with the shows organised by LUGs rather than commercial ones. Usually more models and builders based than sellers but they do have sellers that are much more reasonably priced.
thats the old disney castle.
I'd love to live in Europe for the Lego. Living on an outer island in Hawaii is No Builder's Land. ::sigh::
The internet is your friend! Although I guess postage costs aren’t ideal either…
Wanna swap?
There is a national brick event near me soon and was wondering if vendors take card or cash only?
It varies. Only one vendor today was cash only, so we just avoided looking at them!
Is that Disney castle an older version Kev? It looked different to the current one
That one is the first release
7:44 I think there's some issue with the led cycles and your lens speed, making it flash :/

Yeah, your prices were pretty good! It was the ones near the door that were mega expensive!
BD-1 Is not in the movies or series as of yet, just in the 2 jedi games with Cal Kestis
Well there we go. Shows what I know about Star Wars!
Kev you should definitely do a Star Wars. Just not the sequels.
That's a good buy. I think it comes with a BD-1 mini figure that people will be after now that Lego has released a Cal Kestis one with the incoming new Star destroyer set. Enjoying the channel and your city progress. Great stuff! 👍
We will ignore the giraffe not getting purchased 😔
I couldn’t spend any more money! I’ll get him at some point!
Winnie the poo set at argos £90
I’ve got a Winnie the Pooh I’ll sell you for Rrp plus postage when I get back

Take it your a keep box guy then
Not really. Only for the really big expensive sets.
@@blockpartyuk yes just asking some do some don’t just seeing what side you are on . I don’t have the room for them but each there own
Mine are folded down and under my Lego city tables. Which I’m sure is a wonderful fire hazard!
