Pet mills absolutely disgust me and I can’t imagine how some people can be so heartless towards animals. I adopted my hamster and gave him a much better life and now he’s very affectionate towards people 💞🐹
I hope I can own a hamster adoption, I would probably only have 6 or 5 at a time and all in different cages, I think that's the minimum I can take care of, so just know not all of them will be bad hopefully

Yeah, these pet mills just make me wanna like, go in there with a flame thrower and take all the hammier to good homes where they can be loved forever and forget about their horrible experiences.

I went to the pet store today and my eyes literally teared up when i saw the condition all the animals were kept in, and seeing how animals in pet mills are treated in this video literally made me burst out crying.
I adopted my hamster tatortot because he had wet tail, when the worker showed me him, I actually CRIED he was so sick, I took him to my exotic vet that day, but hes better now! THANK GOD

yeahhhh, as a person that works at petsmart, we cant control where the animals come from, or even how they are taken care of. there is policy for everything, like what you feed each animal and how much, and we can get fired if we do something else. I personally sugest to customers to look at expos and local breeders if they are considering an animal, especially if we are out of that certain animal, but I like to hint at it even if we have it. policy is to show them different options! though i might take that a bit far :3 if anything, when you do that, your just kind of blaming them for working there, even when most poeple WHO work there do it to try and make it better. if they care that is. some dont, and thats sad, but the workers who do care, try to help the animals the best they can in the shitty environment that companies put them in.
Years ago, me and my sister were at petsmart, and the worker wanted us to look at another guinea pig in some room. We weren’t thinking at the time I guess, and purchased him and his brother, we spent a fortune on supplies that were safe and good. A few weeks later they both passed away and we were heart broken. That room was where they kept the sick ones..... wtf.
I just recently got my hamster from a animal shelter! I’m so happy to have been able to adopt her! Even though we had to drive 3 ish hours to get there it was definitely worth it!
i got my first Syrian yesterday. she is 6 months and i adopted her, shes so friendly and cute and i am so happy i got her a cage which measures about 600 square inches. thank you for everything you have taught me in all these years i love you
I did a lot of reasearch on my hamster because I need to make sure I’m able to take care of it and make sure the cages that are safe and where it comes from

I have to say, I don't love the way most pet stores (that I have been to) keep their animals, however there was one that I recently visited and it was incredible to see the amount of care the animals were treated with. Their displays were really spacious with a great amount of bedding and it was really touching to see that because usually the animals on display are crammed into tiny displays. One of the workers there also recommended I get a large crate from the store next door to convert into a hamster cage and told me about some other stores in the area I didn't know about where I might be able to find the type of bedding I was looking for. People who put animal care before money will always have place in my heart
I got my hammy from the back of a pet store for free adoption. Someone had given him up to PetSmart. PetSmart can’t sell animals that were out of the cages for any period of time. Ask your local petsmart if they do adoptions.
After 2 years of being the owner of my hamster i just remembered ... i bought him from a pet store 😟 And after i watched this video i just... im so sad that his mom probably went trough a life in a pet mill 😭 If i ever get another hamster... i will probably adopt Edit: 6:43 that lil video clip is zo cute :0

oh man, I've heard of puppy mills, but it somehow never occurred to me that the same would be going on with rodents! And I was always told the hamster types I had as a kid were teddy/panda bear hamsters 😂😂 no idea they were fake nicknamey terms lol. so glad to have found your channel! I found your channel by accident and to be honest im so surprised by my lack of knowledge but with your videos I've learned ao much and im so grateful for that i hope my hamsters will have the best life ever in history😊❤
When I was a child, I got my hamsters from a pet store. Now I only get animals from proper breeders. Last week I got two Robo brothers. From the start, they are perfectly used to a human hand and, instead of running away and hiding like my previous store-bought hamsters, they were curiously exploring their new home and interacting with me from day one. I am also glad I know that at least several generations back there were no health problems in their family and no known inbreeding. Most importantly for me, I can be fairly sure they are truly both boys - no unwanted surprise coming! The breeder was very nice, willing to help with anything, but also wanted to know where and how they will live after she sells them to me - which is a good sign that she really cares about them. The only thing in this video that made me pause was the age at which the hamsters are sold - I got mine at four weeks (the minimum according to the breeder, though provided I take some special dietary care of them in the first few weeks), which also according to my search on the internet was fine. Is it different depending on the species? Can perhaps Roborovski dwarf hamsters be rehomed sooner than, let's say, Syrian hamsters?
Ahhh I don't really know, all the ethical breeders I have met will not rehome until 6 weeks of age some not even until 8 weeks. They really still have so much more to learn from siblings from those 2-4 extra weeks.
@@VictoriaRaechel I found a hamster adoption/rescue thay is an arm of one of the hamsteries through Ham Ham and she is the closest to me by a good deal. She had rescued mom from neglect and had dad both syrians. She still has mom and a few sisters and the boy we are looking at getting. He was born oct. 21, 2021. She hopes to one day have her own shop to carry good quality supplies as well as continue to rescue and find adoptive homes. She did have a quesionaire asked to see photos, verified we had an close exotic vet lined up. Asked about experience, if the hamster was for youbor a gift to someone else, any other animals in the home, willing to do a check in to verify how hamster has adjusted and if unable to care for it to return it to her. What else should I ask. Planning to bribg our furbaby home early march. Thanks again for all your wealth of knoweldge you share!!! We have learned so much in recent months from you!!!
I had been begging my parents for a Russian dwarf hamster for months. My parents got me 2 of them for Christmas, from PetsMart. I was really happy, I learned that they had left them in the carrying cases for 3 DAYS. I got really upset after this.
Some people don't have a choice tho I tried to look for one online but I can't find one near me so I have to get mine from pet smart or petco when I went to the store some had a good wheel and some didn't so I am gonna get one that looks like it was treated well like a good wheel and stuff some of them had huge wheels
There's nothing you can do about it now, but now you know for next time. Where to get your animal is part of the research that should be done on any animal you plan on getting.

i recently got a cambell hamster from a family owned pet store, and they truly care about them, the make sure they have a big space and clean surroundings. local family owned pet store are usually very responsible breeders
i got one of my hamsters from a breeder, he had them in large cages and boys and girls were seperated, i buyed him when he was around 2/3 months. i got the other two at a shop without knowing this was happening, i am happy you spread awareness!
Tamsin secker acc depending on where u live if u live in aberdeen or bridge of don scotland that pets at homes are good and don’t get there pets from rodent/pet mills and the health of the animals are good but I would still adopt from there and not shop

I got my first hamster from a pet store. I was so sad since I got my little hammy a critter trail cage. I did no research so I ended up having a pied robovroski hamster with a critter trail cage for her. But ever since I started watching your videos, I upgraded my hamster's life to the life she deserved. But she died 4 days ago. But she still had a good life.
seeing those hamster mills brought me to tears. i’m big on animals happiness and have always had a soft spot for any type of animal. every dog my family has ever adopted has been a rescue and i really want to continue to rescue animals that aren’t just dogs or cats, but help the little ones. my first hamster of 2 and 1/2 years passed away about 2 weeks ago as her belly became blue and bloated, and i made the wise choice to put her down because that’s what my family decided before putting our old dog down. i got G (hamster) after my dog had been put down and it was really heartbreaking to let her go join him in heaven. i’m looking into getting another one and trying to improve my care, even though G lived the best life in a huge bin cage. you’ve helped me to give a better life because without your inspiration should would’ve lived a short life in a ten gallon tank with a cage topper. i was 12 when i got G and now i’m 14, almost 15. i got G from petco and most owners say hamster are mean but G was the sweetest hamster as she never bit anyone, and felt safe and comfortable. i believe she felt like that because if i were to hold her and her comfort level was high and i gave her to anyone she wasn’t very familiar with, her comfort level wouldn’t change and she was never scared. i’m hoping to find a hamster with the same personality . ❤❤
I knew it wasn't good to buy hamsters from petstores but i never knew they came from those horrible pet mills. We had a hamster when i was younger that was absolutly insane. It was aggressive and showed a lot of signs of stress. We never really knew why. Now I know.

I’m very thankful that my local pet shop only has animals surrendered to them or from local shelters that need more space. When I got my first hamster I got it from this shop which had to take in a litter of hamsters because someone accidentally bred them. They support good care and I am very thankful to have a shop like this around.

Ive been looking for a hamster for a couple of weeks and me and my mum went in to Pets At Home and we saw some cute little robo hammies when we got back home i obvs came onto youtube and watched one of ur vids and it so happened ti be this one! i started cyring when i saw the bit abt hamster mills and my mum asked me what was wrong i shoed her ur vid and we both instantly started looking for ethical breedsers! I know this video is 2 years old, but I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making all these educational videos. I am a new hamster mommy and I bought my first hamster 2 months ago. His name is Mr. Nibbles a miniature Russian hamster, well I love him so much that I just needed to adopt another one. I did buy both hamsters at petco because I was in there and I felt absolutely terrible the little cages they keep the hamsters in, they are placed with a few other hamsters when they should never be placed together. I just felt the need to take them out of that environment. I can definitely say without a doubt I made the right decision for my first hamster. Mr nibbles is thriving. King Tuck who is a teddy bear hamster is skiddish but never bites. I just got him 3 weeks ago and I'm doing my best to allow him to adjust. I'm not pushing him to come out of hiding if he does not want to, or pick him up. Poor guy must have been treated so terrible. I bout two 40 gallon fish tanks for each hamster. Got all my supplies from Amazon before buying them both. I really enjoy the night angel wheels and accessories like bridges and placing tunnels under their deep hamster bedding. Mr nibbles allows me to pick him up it took some time and he loves bath tub bonding with no water, just a blanket and roaming in his large play pin. I was wondering if there was anything else other than giving treats to skiddish King Tuck. He still will hide in his tunnel when he takes treats out of my hand. I'm being very patient like I said, but I want him to be at ease. I'm a nurse and I work 3 12 hour night shifts so the nights I don't work I spend time close to their hahabitat. I talk to them, watch them run, give treats ect. But when I'm in the room at night more time that not King Tuck wants to hide. He is in a 40 gallon fish tank is that to small for him? He is obviously bigger than my dwarf hamster. I really hope you see this comment. I will do anything and everything that you suggest. Because I love them both so much. I have two girls 4 and 5 and honestly they are the perfect addition to our family. Thanks again.
In Germany and Austria we have Hamsterhilfe! They have very strict conditions for adopting but thanks to that they always find proper care and caring homes which is great ❤️
When you said there weren’t many ethical breeders out there it inspires me to try and become one because I want all animals to thrive with my heart and I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure they do!❤️

I got my hamster at pet smart. When we got him at pet smart the worker told us to put ONE inch of bedding! I did not do that because it was irresponsible of me to do that. Yesterday my little skittles passed away due to a disease he was at a “Pet Smart” I got him there. He lived a month so now I will take more better care of my pets. I had him in a tiny tales cage (I’m sorry) but now I’m gonna put my next hamster in a bin cage and take better cate of them :) I’ll do this all for my Robo dwarf of hamster “skittles” in heaven!
Trying to convince my parents to let me get a hamster and have been watching your videos to help do research, but the only thing is, I don't have any ethical breeders or shelters that have ever had hamsters near me. The closest shelter with hamsters is two hours away in a different state, so if I convince them the only place I can adopt is from a pet store :(

I don’t really know why I didn’t think of where hamsters came from before they reach pet stores but now that I’ve watched this video it makes all the sense. I bought my 3 babies from pet stores, doing it without even thinking, and that is the last time. I’m glad I got to save them from who knows what, but I’m sad that another hamster is filling in the same spot. Thank you for providing this info, now I’m done supporting them as a whole 🙏🏼

in finland one of our petstores can tell where the animals have come from, how to treat them good and they always ask something about ur home to know even a little bit where the animal is going! I think it's amaizing😍

I was going to get a hamster next week but I had to do research so I watched some of your videos and came across this video I was going to check out a pet store but now I am probably never going to a pet store again unless I'm getting supplies. I love animals so I was almost crying in shock about pet mills cause I'm only 8 years old I never like it when an animal dies. I was devastated so I'm not going to buy another animal until I research on the animal . Your such a good role model to me you are so so caring to animals I bet animals love you so much. hi🌈 i wanted to ask what i should do if my hamster seed mix has 9 percent fat ( which it should have 4-7) but everything else is amazing it has 18 percent protein and 9 percent fiber and it has a lot of variety in it ( also no coloring added) Is it a problem if i just avoid giving them fatty foods and keep the mix?
I got my hamster from pets at home. I wish I watched your videos before getting milo, in the last 3 months I changed his quality of life drastically thanks to your advice. He's got a massive DIY home now with lots of enrichment toys and hides with 10/15 inches of SAFE bedding. Ive loved watching his happiness instantly increases with each new addition as I learn more its really rewarding. I no longer get anything from pets at home and my next hammy is defo going to be a rescue.
Lol, everything I’ve done since I bought my two hamsters have been wrong. Buying from the pet store, getting a critter trail cage, the amount of food and yogurt drops, the amount of bedding they need, the fact that I got two and keep them together... but your videos have helped me a lot! Since watching your videos I have made them the min size requirement bin cage, added more bedding, more toys so they won’t get bored, and before they become full adults I’m going to separate them and make another bin cage. I got my syrian male hamster from a pet shop. I didn't know were to find an adoption centre for animals so that was my only option. The lady who showed me all the available hamsters (not many) told me all about hamster care. Now that I watch your videos, everything she said was proved correct by you Victoria! She told me how big the cage was ment to be, she even asked me for a picture of it. She told me how old the hamster was, I don't remeber exacly but it was around 6 to 10 weeks. There were only 4 hamsters in the cage, it was a very very big cage. The wheel looked about a 10 inch and the 2 food and water containers were 100% full. The bedding look very very high since the cage was about waste high to a 6-7 year old. The hamster I picked is a creamy white colour, he was sleeping in the corner. The others were grey and playing around. I bought the first toys, food and bedding at that store. The shopkeeper gave me the ones recommended by their other costumers. She said that there have been accidents were the hamster was put only into one layer of a cardboard box and ended up escaping! Because of that, she put Felix, (my hamster) into a two layered box. I had him on my lap as I was not driving. I felt him closer to my legs as we were getting closer to our destination. I assumed he must of made his way out of the first box. I was so happy that he was in a two layer! From what I know now, my hamster is healthy and happy. Also, the shopkeeper had 5 hamsters herself so she was very gentle with picking him up.

if anything, when you do that, your just kind of blaming them for working there, even when most poeple WHO work there do it to try and make it better. if they care that is. some dont, and thats sad, but the workers who do care, try to help the animals the best they can in the shitty environment that companies put them in.

Years ago, me and my sister were at petsmart, and the worker wanted us to look at another guinea pig in some room. We weren’t thinking at the time I guess, and purchased him and his brother, we spent a fortune on supplies that were safe and good. A few weeks later they both passed away and we were heart broken. That room was where they kept the sick ones..... wtf.

I feel so guilty for not knowing about pet mills. I would always get my hamsters from pet stores and most of them didn’t live any longer than 4 months. I will make sure my next hamster will be a rescue or from a good breeder.

I have to say, I don't love the way most pet stores (that I have been to) keep their animals, however there was one that I recently visited and it was incredible to see the amount of care the animals were treated with. Their displays were really spacious with a great amount of bedding and it was really touching to see that because usually the animals on display are crammed into tiny displays. One of the workers there also recommended I get a large crate from the store next door to convert into a hamster cage and told me about some other stores in the area I didn't know about where I might be able to find the type of bedding I was looking for. People who put animal care before money will always have place in my heart
I got my hammy from the back of a pet store for free adoption. Someone had given him up to PetSmart. PetSmart can’t sell animals that were out of the cages for any period of time. Ask your local petsmart if they do adoptions.
We have a local shelter and they have adoption days at petsmart:)

I found your channel by accident and to be honest im so surprised by my lack of knowledge but with your videos I've learned ao much and im so grateful for that i hope my hamsters will have the best life ever in history😊❤
When I was a child, I got my hamsters from a pet store. Now I only get animals from proper breeders. Last week I got two Robo brothers. From the start, they are perfectly used to a human hand and, instead of running away and hiding like my previous store-bought hamsters, they were curiously exploring their new home and interacting with me from day one. I am also glad I know that at least several generations back there were no health problems in their family and no known inbreeding. Most importantly for me, I can be fairly sure they are truly both boys - no unwanted surprise coming! The breeder was very nice, willing to help with anything, but also wanted to know where and how they will live after she sells them to me - which is a good sign that she really cares about them. The only thing in this video that made me pause was the age at which the hamsters are sold - I got mine at four weeks (the minimum according to the breeder, though provided I take some special dietary care of them in the first few weeks), which also according to my search on the internet was fine. Is it different depending on the species? Can perhaps Roborovski dwarf hamsters be rehomed sooner than, let's say, Syrian hamsters?
Ahhh I don't really know, all the ethical breeders I have met will not rehome until 6 weeks of age some not even until 8 weeks. They really still have so much more to learn from siblings from those 2-4 extra weeks.
@@VictoriaRaechel I found a hamster adoption/rescue thay is an arm of one of the hamsteries through Ham Ham and she is the closest to me by a good deal. She had rescued mom from neglect and had dad both syrians. She still has mom and a few sisters and the boy we are looking at getting. He was born oct. 21, 2021. She hopes to one day have her own shop to carry good quality supplies as well as continue to rescue and find adoptive homes. She did have a quesionaire asked to see photos, verified we had an close exotic vet lined up. Asked about experience, if the hamster was for youbor a gift to someone else, any other animals in the home, willing to do a check in to verify how hamster has adjusted and if unable to care for it to return it to her. What else should I ask. Planning to bribg our furbaby home early march. Thanks again for all your wealth of knoweldge you share!!! We have learned so much in recent months from you!!!

i recently got a cambell hamster from a family owned pet store, and they truly care about them, the make sure they have a big space and clean surroundings. local family owned pet store are usually very responsible breeders
i got one of my hamsters from a breeder, he had them in large cages and boys and girls were seperated, i buyed him when he was around 2/3 months. i got the other two at a shop without knowing this was happening, i am happy you spread awareness!

I did no research so I ended up having a pied robovroski hamster with a critter trail cage for her. But ever since I started watching your videos, I upgraded my hamster's life to the life she deserved. But she died 4 days ago. But she still had a good life.
seeing those hamster mills brought me to tears. i’m big on animals happiness and have always had a soft spot for any type of animal. every dog my family has ever adopted has been a rescue and i really want to continue to rescue animals that aren’t just dogs or cats, but help the little ones. my first hamster of 2 and 1/2 years passed away about 2 weeks ago as her belly became blue and bloated, and i made the wise choice to put her down because that’s what my family decided before putting our old dog down. i got G (hamster) after my dog had been put down and it was really heartbreaking to let her go join him in heaven. i’m looking into getting another one and trying to improve my care, even though G lived the best life in a huge bin cage. you’ve helped me to give a better life because without your inspiration should would’ve lived a short life in a ten gallon tank with a cage topper. i was 12 when i got G and now i’m 14, almost 15. i got G from petco and most owners say hamster are mean but G was the sweetest hamster as she never bit anyone, and felt safe and comfortable. i believe she felt like that because if i were to hold her and her comfort level was high and i gave her to anyone she wasn’t very familiar with, her comfort level wouldn’t change and she was never scared. i’m hoping to find a hamster with the same personality . ❤❤

I knew it wasn't good to buy hamsters from petstores but i never knew they came from those horrible pet mills. We had a hamster when i was younger that was absolutly insane. It was aggressive and showed a lot of signs of stress. We never really knew why. Now I know.

I’m very thankful that my local pet shop only has animals surrendered to them or from local shelters that need more space. When I got my first hamster I got it from this shop which had to take in a litter of hamsters because someone accidentally bred them. They support good care and I am very thankful to have a shop like this around.

I know this video is 2 years old, but I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making all these educational videos. I am a new hamster mommy and I bought my first hamster 2 months ago. His name is Mr. Nibbles a miniature Russian hamster, well I love him so much that I just needed to adopt another one. I did buy both hamsters at petco because I was in there and I felt absolutely terrible the little cages they keep the hamsters in, they are placed with a few other hamsters when they should never be placed together. I just felt the need to take them out of that environment. I can definitely say without a doubt I made the right decision for my first hamster. Mr nibbles is thriving. King Tuck who is a teddy bear hamster is skiddish but never bites. I just got him 3 weeks ago and I'm doing my best to allow him to adjust. I'm not pushing him to come out of hiding if he does not want to, or pick him up. Poor guy must have been treated so terrible. I bout two 40 gallon fish tanks for each hamster. Got all my supplies from Amazon before buying them both. I really enjoy the night angel wheels and accessories like bridges and placing tunnels under their deep hamster bedding. Mr nibbles allows me to pick him up it took some time and he loves bath tub bonding with no water, just a blanket and roaming in his large play pin. I was wondering if there was anything else other than giving treats to skiddish King Tuck. He still will hide in his tunnel when he takes treats out of my hand. I'm being very patient like I said, but I want him to be at ease. I'm a nurse and I work 3 12 hour night shifts so the nights I don't work I spend time close to their hahabitat. I talk to them, watch them run, give treats ect. But when I'm in the room at night more time that not King Tuck wants to hide. He is in a 40 gallon fish tank is that to small for him? He is obviously bigger than my dwarf hamster. I really hope you see this comment. I will do anything and everything that you suggest. Because I love them both so much. I have two girls 4 and 5 and honestly they are the perfect addition to our family. Thanks again.
In Germany and Austria we have Hamsterhilfe! They have very strict conditions for adopting but thanks to that they always find proper care and caring homes which is great ❤️

I got my hamster at pet smart. When we got him at pet smart the worker told us to put ONE inch of bedding! I did not do that because it was irresponsible of me to do that. Yesterday my little skittles passed away due to a disease he was at a “Pet Smart” I got him there. He lived a month so now I will take more better care of my pets. I had him in a tiny tales cage (I’m sorry) but now I’m gonna put my next hamster in a bin cage and take better cate of them :) I’ll do this all for my Robo dwarf of hamster “skittles” in heaven!
Trying to convince my parents to let me get a hamster and have been watching your videos to help do research, but the only thing is, I don't have any ethical breeders or shelters that have ever had hamsters near me. The closest shelter with hamsters is two hours away in a different state, so if I convince them the only place I can adopt is from a pet store :(

I don’t really know why I didn’t think of where hamsters came from before they reach pet stores but now that I’ve watched this video it makes all the sense. I bought my 3 babies from pet stores, doing it without even thinking, and that is the last time. I was going to get a hamster next week but I had to do research so I watched some of your videos and came across this video I was going to check out a pet store but now I am probably never going to a pet store again unless I'm getting supplies. I love animals so I was almost crying in shock about pet mills cause I'm only 8 years old I never like it when an animal dies. I was devastated so I'm not going to buy another animal until I research on the animal . Your such a good role model to me you are so so caring to animals I bet animals love you so much. I just want to say thank you so much for what you have done and you always know what to do when something goes wrong I wish everybody was as caring as you are. I wish those sweet hamsters will get a home someday. hi🌈 i wanted to ask what i should do if my hamster seed mix has 9 percent fat ( which it should have 4-7) but everything else is amazing it has 18 percent protein and 9 percent fiber and it has a lot of variety in it ( also no coloring added) Is it a problem if i just avoid giving them fatty foods and keep the mix?
Hm you could try adding something in to lower the fat this would require you to calculate it a bit though

I got my hamster from pets at home. I wish I watched your videos before getting milo, in the last 3 months I changed his quality of life drastically thanks to your advice. He's got a massive DIY home now with lots of enrichment toys and hides with 10/15 inches of SAFE bedding. Ive loved watching his happiness instantly increases with each new addition as I learn more its really rewarding. I no longer get anything from pets at home and my next hammy is defo going to be a rescue.
Lol, everything I’ve done since I bought my two hamsters have been wrong. Buying from the pet store, getting a critter trail cage, the amount of food and yogurt drops, the amount of bedding they need, the fact that I got two and keep them together... but your videos have helped me a lot! Since watching your videos I have made them the min size requirement bin cage, added more bedding, more toys so they won’t get bored, and before they become full adults I’m going to separate them and make another bin cage. Thanks for making these videos!
I got my syrian male hamster from a pet shop. I didn't know were to find an adoption centre for animals so that was my only option. The lady who showed me all the available hamsters (not many) told me all about hamster care. Now that I watch your videos, everything she said was proved correct by you Victoria! She told me how big the cage was ment to be, she even asked me for a picture of it. She told me how old the hamster was, I don't remeber exacly but it was around 6 to 10 weeks. There were only 4 hamsters in the cage, it was a very very big cage. The wheel looked about a 10 inch and the 2 food and water containers were 100% full. The bedding look very very high since the cage was about waste high to a 6-7 year old. The hamster I picked is a creamy white colour, he was sleeping in the corner. The others were grey and playing around. I bought the first toys, food and bedding at that store. The shopkeeper gave me the ones recommended by their other costumers. She said that there have been accidents were the hamster was put only into one layer of a cardboard box and ended up escaping! Because of that, she put Felix, (my hamster) into a two layered box. I had him on my lap as I was not driving. I felt him closer to my legs as we were getting closer to our destination. I assumed he must of made his way out of the first box. I was so happy that he was in a two layer! From what I know now, my hamster is healthy and happy. Also, the shopkeeper had 5 hamsters herself so she was very gentle with picking him up.
