Thanks for posting. This isn't something that Rad can advertise due to liability reasons, but I think it will be important for their sales that people know they can get more speed out of these bikes.
You’re more than welcome! I understand a certain amount of liability involved but there are quite a few other companies that share how to get around their governors or sell and ship as class 3 bikes. Not sure why RPB’s are as strict as they are but I’m happy to help spread the word to help others get a little bit more out of their bikes!
@@woltersen1 Firstly, 25 kilometres per hour is only 15 MPH, so, I think you're calculations are a bit off. 20 MPH is 32.19 KMH , is 32 KMH the limit? Anyways, the computer has settings for MPH as well as KPH, so I would think they could easily adjust this among other things at the dealership. The whole set of Class 1, class 2 and class 3 is strictly a US system. This brings the bike from Class 2: which specifies twenty MPH top, to Class 3, a significant US legal status change. In some states it may not matter, but every state is different, and changing nowadays. So, it's not entirely about EU regulations.
@@squirlmy It's not entirely about the US class system, of course, but the EU one isnt all that different. Legally a rad power bike is allowed to have pedal assist up to 25 km/h. This is why on stock settings, once you hit that 25, the motor will just cut off. By changing it to 40 km/h you've ensured the motor will never cut off. At the same time, you won't be reaching speeds above 32 km/h on a flat road anyhow. Crucially, changing the setting so the motor doesn't cut off has equally significant effects on the classification because now, you'd be legally required to have a license plate and insurance - which you can't even get.
Thank you! I’ve been looking everywhere online for this and was unable to find anything other than people talking about how strict Rad was when it came to their Class II designation. I was beginning to think that maybe their new bikes no longer had the hidden menu option for this. Thank you for finding and sharing this!
If it makes you feel any better it took my quite awhile to find this as well and finally found the answer on some ebike forum. I’m glad I could help you and others get a little extra speed out of their 6+! Thank you so much for the comment!
Given all the newer higher powered ebikes on the market, I'd honestly say the Rad is a beginner's ebike or something I could safely take to the EU without getting into too much trouble. In the US you now have companies selling 2000-3000w ebikes as standard.
Funny, I just did this test today! I've got the RadRover 6 Plus, I did this very same hack back in April when I got it, and today for fun on my commute....I tried throttle only to see what's up. I got up to 21mph on flat surface (there was a bunch of crosswind today), with a slightly full saddle bag (work clothes, tools, etc), and cold weather gear on me. Whatever that means! Maybe if you're lighter than me (200), and don't have extra weight in work clothes and winter riding gear, you might get more on throttle only?
Thanks! I've seen a few videos going over this for the Rad City 5 (same electronics), but they disappear after a while. I'm guessing Rad bikes is just asking UA-camrs to take these videos down so as to not get pegged for trying to get around the law. For me, this workaround is essential -- I wouldn't enjoy my RadCity 5 Plus nearly as much with the speed limited to 20mph. The 25 mph is essential. Thanks for getting this video up! I hope you're able to keep it up!
Hello! You’re more than welcome for this! I completely agree that this is definitely essential to get a little bit more out it. Before I put this video up I searched and was shocked that I couldn’t find any other videos at the time I uploaded it explaining this which I found a little odd. There so many other electric bikes, uni’s and scooters that go way faster either out of the box or by cutting a wire that the manufacturer themselves shows you how to do. I’m still baffled as why Rad would still be the way they are on this. In the meantime though enjoy the extra little bit of speed lol!
I found that it also works on the new RadCity 5 Plus. Not that I expect to need to be going faster than 20 miles an hour but one never knows what life might throw at me. Thanks for the video!
That’s really interesting that you’re only getting 22mph. I can achieve 25mph under absolute perfect conditions but 23mph-24mph is very common as long as I’m not going in to any wind. If you’re only getting 22mph with no wind on flat ground that’s really odd. I’m 170lbs with no added gear on my bike running 23psi in my tires. The only things I can think of effecting your top speed is a higher rider and/or gear weight, lower tire pressure or maybe an incorrect readout on your bikes speedometer.

I will add to this that what you’re saying about support isn’t necessarily true any longer. My RadRunner 6 arrived with the front shock seals shot (so it leaves a ring of oil, which will eventually dry out sooner than it needs to) their customer support is no longer over phone, over chat, over text, they are ONLY doing emails. And not quickly at that. So finally they sent me a replacement front fork. It’s also leaking. They have a new CEO who is apologizing for their safety decline and claiming to turn things around. But long gone are the days of the Seattle bike company supporting you with yourpurchase. So while I love this Juggernaut of a bike and I’m excited to unlock the top end, I do think it’s worth pointing out that with e-bikes, customer support is still the wild, wild west.

With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. You can peddle it to 32+ MPH. But it's ability to take a beating and keep on running is unlike anything I have ever experienced. I have taken 5 super hard falls (at 58, no less), seriously hard, and the bike bounced back every time. I had to make adjustments to put things back in alignment but it never stopped performing in the 98th percentile. That's my recommendation.

There’s no easy way to get it any faster than this. The only way to go faster would be to start replacing components like the controller, motor, etc… I only mention multiple components because just replacing the controller to get better performance would decrease range so to increase overall performance and range you would need to replace multiple components from what I heard.

Hi I wanted to ask what made you go with the radrover rather than one of the others out there? I’m doing my research and there are so many choices
What are you using to record video? Most (all?) other videos of the displays flicker, but your video looks like real life. How??? By the way THANK YOU for the hack! I will use it responsibly :-)
I wish I had a super technical answer explaining some super technical video equipment, but, I’m just using an iPhone 13 Pro Max lol.
I’m glad to hear the videos turn out well but I’m not sure how lol.
Thank you very much for the comment and you’re very welcome for the hack!
@@2thepoint959 Thinking that others use their GoPro-whatevers, but you're using iphone. Curious!
@@chesmalgalicia8837 Yes I’m just using my iPhone 13 Pro Max and that’s all. I’m not even using any special settings. For the final editing I’m using iMovie. I’m only using iMovie to stitch clips together and export to YT.

Not US version, won't happen
Ty so much bro
You’re more than welcome! 😎
Worked for me, thanks!

How fast have you gotten it up to? Both on pedal assist and throttle only.
@@jbseal10 24MPH, though I always pedal a little. Interestingly, when I'm going that fast I wish I had *one* more gear to go up to, as I have to pedal pretty fast to keep up.
~Trav
I can push it to 32 Max?
Thank you
I’ve just increased to 40kmh but am unable to do better than 34 and I find that the low end torque is reduced. Any thoughts on how to get to 40Kms?
I’m actually going to be doing a video on this soon. You’re not the first person to comment on this issue. I chalked this shortfall up to higher rider/gear weights, hilly terrain, etc… previously. However, I’m only about 170lbs and have no extra gear on and have smooth flat asphalt trails and have only achieved the full unlocked max speed a few times. I’ve achieved 24mph a little more under extremely perfect conditions but the more common top speed I achieve is only 22mph-23mph. I’m currently trying to narrow down another electronic misrepresentation with both my new Rad Rover 6+ bikes and once I do I’ll be uploading some videos regarding your top speed question and some other things.
I get 38kms now
@@dashriprocks I’ve done 45km going down a slope. But mostly 37-38km at the max.

Thank you, so easy.
Hi Brent I wanted to ask if you have the radrover and if so what made you choose it over the others?… thanks for any info!!
TYVM!!! Much appreciated!!!
You’re very welcome! Glad I could help!

@@bernievassallo3336 sorry for delay...I actually had my rad stolen, lol. They were us uncaring as a company could be. In any case, I got a chance to ride the rad, which can be altered to go 25MPH, but then I bought an Aventon step through Aventure (their best bike) and can honestly say the Avcenton is a better made product. t is as sturdy as the day is long.
Thanks !!!
Thank you...GittyUp!
You’re very welcome! Glad I could help feed a little speed to your ride!
I have found that I can only get up to 25 when the battery is basically full. Anyone else?
THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Anyone find a way to dim the second screen? It’s like constantly having car headlights shining in your eyes at night. So bright…
Hello! I’ve done some searching and can’t find any answers for this as of yet unfortunately. If something changes I’ll definitely update or hopefully someone else can comment if they hold the answer to this.
@@2thepoint959 Right on, I don't think there is a way to dim the second screen on the new models. A piece of tape solved my problem.
Nice! I was actually thinking taking a piece of window tint and putting it over to dim the display since there are different levels of darkness for tint.
@@2thepoint959 That’s a great idea. I have no trouble seeing it in daylight
After marker screen shade… I’m from the future.
right to the point. thanks
Is there a way to get it any faster?
There’s no easy way to get it any faster than this. The only way to go faster would be to start replacing components like the controller, motor, etc… I only mention multiple components because just replacing the controller to get better performance would decrease range so to increase overall performance and range you would need to replace multiple components from what I heard.
@@2thepoint959 do u know where i can buy these i wanna try and get to go 60mph

want the 750 all the way around the clock
Can't wait to have some fun man and love life

How
I have a Rad 5. top speed increase is not that important as I peddle for exercise and enjoyment. my bike is not a motorcycle. it is a bike. suggest others keep that in mind.
Thank very much for clearing up the confusion around your Rad 5 not being a motorcycle and letting us know it’s a bike. I’ll see if I can convey this message in a future video. We will all take note and keep that in mind per your request.
first u say mph then allov a sudden you say kilometers make up your mind
*First, *you, *all of, (,), (.)
He did explain this, and it doesn’t take much to be nice.
Clean out your ears. It wasn’t difficult to understand.
Why would you want to go that fast? Sounds like a good way to increase injuries.
Everyone has their own level of comfort, skills and reasons. This merely provides an option for those that possess a higher comfort and skill level.
Because life is short and going fast is fun.
Let’s hope so…
