Thanks mate! I tried collecting the pollen with a brush before but it was quite inefficient and time consuming cos they flower at night and usually on a work night too
Hi Brett, yes even here I am not a fan of the store bought ones. I think they pick them in Thailand green and ship them here. They'll never have the same sugar hit as a mango but very refreshing
Once they take off they are such a productive plant. Both my trellis are completely opposite design but same results. As long as you give them something to droop over, you'll be right!!
This looks amazing! Yes my neighbor gave me some and I kept it in the fridge. It tasted 10 times sweeter than the ones I had from the shop and on a Thailand trip. This looks incredible. Amazing. 👏🏻🌵🌵🌵🌵what made you start growing them? They do take up a bit of room and 3 years!!!!
@@Evelynmay88 hello, I started growing Dragon Fruit after tasting some in Cambodia and then I wanted to try different varieties instead of just the standard varieties 👍
I live in Northern California, USA (much cooler than Southern California), Someone gave us few cut branches from Los Angels, it took me more than 10 years before I had my first dragon fruit. Good job for you...
Hello, thanks for your comment. I am in a similar climate, I live in Southern Australia and in my hemisphere the southern part of Australia is much colder than the north. I am 2300 miles south from Darwin. Good luck for your growing 👍
@@garyhowery1981 Hi: I live in Oakland CA. I recently cut off lots branches (filled a very big recycle bin). When the branches grow back, then I could give you some. No money needed. Fresno would be a excellent place to grew Dragon fruit. If you have a big yard, you could grow lot of fruits.
Well done Paul - saw spiky yellows in Dandy .Market recently be good to test alongside? .My yellow has returned to life after replanted in perlite / coir And. Betal leaf in same pot has gone nuts climbing everywhere - so making a meal of soon - will the next be pink inside?Had last Epiphyllium fruit last week too -almost Raspberry Lemonade taste .
@@Treegrower thank you mate, I tried a few different ways. The Aussie gold in the video is in a round raised bed, 70cm or 28 inches in diameter and open to the ground and that variety I actually grafted onto a tall Vietnamese white to save on waiting time. The other varieties against the wall are in big 160 litre or 42 gallon pots. Thanks for watching 👍
Thsnks for the confirmation mate,I was just squeezing it, second guessing myself because I thought it would be redder. I'll taste it today. The tricia flowers will open tonight or tomorrow night
❤ A 2 poun̈d Dragon Fruit on Sale at Amazon Whole Foods was $12.00. I bought 3 pounds of red at Costco for $7.99. Yellow is my favorite. I want to get cutting of Aussi Gold to raise in 10 -15 gallon pot. Great Reviews. ❤
@UrbanBounty found a yellow with a 3-4 centimeter green stem and I planted it 3 days ago. I hope it roots. Will follow your project. Also, l may try growing from seed.🥴😵💫😬
What’s the name brand of the vacuum and can you add a link to Amazon to purchase easily. I’ve searched and nothing came up for this type of vacuum. Thanks
@@VietSao it's called a keyboard vacuum cleaner, Brand: KeepTpeeK. I tried adding a link but it wont let me in a comment. The price is $21.99 from Amazon Australia
What soil do you use? I need to repot my cuttings and people seem to use all sorts of things. I did buy cactus mix after seeing thst suggested but not sure if i need to add anything to it.
Premium potting mix will be fine, the main thing is the soil needs to be raised. I put my raised bed ontop of another raised bed to be absolutely sure. Gravity helps to keep the roots free of rot
Mine will be going in big black plastic pots I found at Bunnings awhile back. As I have nothing else to use the cactus mix for do you think I could mix that with osmocote premium potting mix just so I can use up the cactus mix?
Yes mate $21.99. Its hard to post links here because youtube removes the comment but I went and had a look and the brand name and price matches with what you wrote. It makes pollinating so much easier
Hello, thanks for watching. Unfortunately I am in Melbourne, Australia and unable to send. I have seen videos of this variety in the USA previously so there may be some sellers local to you. Good luck 👍
Great job, Paul! That dragonfruit looked tasty! Great idea with the keyboard vac to collect the pollen too 👍
Thanks Peter. It would probably also work with the pollen of other flowers
