- Finidi George bagged a goal and an assist in the 1997 Copa del Rey final which Real Betis lost 2-3 to Barcelona in extra time.
George Finidi (born 15 April 1971), known as Finidi George, is a Nigerian professional football coach and former player who is currently the head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League club Enyimba F.C. As a player, he played as a right winger.
After making a name for himself at Ajax in the Netherlands - being a leading figure in a team which won eight major titles, including the 1995 Champions League - he played several years in Spain with Real Betis, also having a brief spell in England before retiring.
Finidi was an important member of the Nigeria team during the 1990s, appearing in two World Cups.
Finidi played throughout his footballing career for Nigeria with his iconic number 7 jersey.
In September 2021, Enyimba F.C. named Finidi as their new head coach

Nigeria's 90's players were damn delightful to watch
The good old days when it was normal to see Nigerian players straight from the Nigerian league balling so hard and so well in Europe...
As in " No testing". Once you arrive, straight to the field. No trials at all only medicals. What an Era!
@@Ukthorncarver there were trials but that as just to mark that the coaches and scouts did their job, but yeah it was more like, ''seen you already George so just do medicals and you will be fine''.....................
Real Betis was something else in the 90's. They are tough to play indeed.
Come to think of it luis figo was playing in this era and our own finidi was still seen as the best right winger with precise measurement of passes.
He used to be my favorite Nigerian player growing up. There's a reason why Burna boy sang "I dey play like Finidi" in one of his songs. The man is a legend

Wow, Finidi George was so good. He deserves so much respect.I think the issue between him and Victor Osimhen has been propagated out of proportion by the media.It is not in our tradition for the younger ones to disrespect their older brothers.❤❤❤❤

Osimhen simply feels he has a bigger house than Finidi. So, felt free to insult him over a rumour. And he is been enabled by some 'powerful people'. This saga will replay itself over and over and may consume nigerian football. Politicians have corrupted the football system like other sectors

@@benjamindadzie9657 Asking if we have seen Victor act this way before, is like encouraging 5 seconds or 5 minutes MADNESS, that can end ines career or be fatal. There is always a first time to madness, from uncomfortable uncontrollable emotional outburst that are irreparable to taking a gun and shooting innocent people in a shopping mall.
From Gaza to Mario Ballotoli etc ,we have seen how a lack of self control discipline and anger management has led to class A players not achieving Greatness.
Asking if we have seen Victor act out his anger like this before, can be compared to an Employee who banged d table before his Director MD or Owner of business, ranting balderdash.
Victor's public outburst was too immature irresponsible and classless. Still my best closely followed behind by Lookman bith players performance at d last AFON, plus Lookman master Class performance at d UEFA Cup finals.

Also the way and manner his ex Green Eagles colleague The Bull Amokachie left his coaching staff. Plus d Jersy issue between him.and one of his players, and coming to tell us he took d Jersey from his player, a green Eagles player for his Son. Jersey exchange is between players from.opposing team Finidi..That was even embarrassing to d national team.
***Personally, I feel Finito has Ego things. This is why Coaches like Mourinho stands out, if U are a star player, he finds away to manage your ego, players like Mario got him d Champions league with Inter.

I grew up with him. 94/95, We beat AC Milan 3 times in the same CL season Inc the Final. 5-0 in aggregate.

I still can't understand why Osimhen, who hasn't won much yet, thinks he can disrespect a legend like this. He doesn't even realize he is very average in the National team. Yet he feels he is some CR7 or Maradona. In a pure footballing sense, he is not even in the same class as Finidi.
