Just cleaned out my wood boiler today. It was my first winter running one and I learned how to run it and clean it out by watching all your videos. Saved me a lot of time and money. Appreciate it Jay! If I’m ever over your way would love to have a beer with ya! -Luke G
@@HomesteadJay you wouldn’t believe the amount of nails I pulled out. Mostly from previous owner. My heatmor has grates for the fan and nails get all jammed down below making clean outs difficult
Where did you get the Whiz Wheel for cleaning the boiler? I've scraped the big clumps of creosote with a paint scraper, but there is still a bit on the walls inside.
I had a clip of what I use on the makita but the file was corrupt so I couldn’t use it. I’ll make a video on it coming up! It’s a 3m disk but I’ll get the official info so you can get them. They work great and don’t remove any metal!
I don't understand why you need to clean. I had a outside wood burner made from propane tanks never cleaned the inside all that crap inside burns out when you get to 180 or if you're really bothered by it fill with cardboard. I personally don't see any need just my opinion.
A round propane tank will clean out easier than these. These have weird angles and 90 degree pockets so ocassionally it needs a scrub. Ive had massive fires coming out the chimney and still doesnt get it all.

Wish I had 5% of your ambition. My hat's off to you Jay. Enjoy the wood boiler off season.
Thanks mike! As you know firewood season is year round haha but active burning is over thank god. When it’s time again I’ll be ready for sure!
@@HomesteadJay I'm going to clean the wood boiler AND the chicken coop today! Thanks for the inspiration Jay.

@@HomesteadJay Looking forward to it. You just gained a subscriber.
@@HomesteadJay did you make a video showing what 3M wheel that was?
@@DuckDaddy05 Shoot me an email Homesteadjay35@gmail.com ill send you the info on the disks
👍👍
Thanks for tuning in!
I like to use an oscillating multitool instead of a putty knife in the places where the wire wheel won’t work
👍💯👍
Thanks buddy!
This definitely need Mike Rowe to narrate the video!
Haha that would be wild!

Respectfully, next time try using a wire wheel on a palm grinder.
I wouldnt use steel brush on these.
@@HomesteadJay Why? Is the steel that thin?
I wouldnt use a metal brush on almost 20 year old machine lol
