I think you might of seen that Eric already got 75ft with his Typhon off a home made ramp but if you’re all going for same unofficial world record then you all need to use the same size jump too.

That would destroy it. It's not designed to be tough it's designed to be fast in a straight line on the ground.

Yeah.... bottoming out as it hits the ramp will take so much momentum out of the truck....
I don't know about to the max but stiffening it a bit would definitely help getting some recoil as it leaves the ramp could help as well and not bottoming out as Jody pointed out I'd try different spring load and see what works best ✌️
I usually use a different method to get high but will try your suggestion.

Hey Kev,
you could try stiffer springs for the highjump so it wont bottom out that easily.
I think the car might carry more momentum into the jump this way.

Just a tip : instead of cutting your battery tray just turn the battery on its side so the cables point up. I had to do this on one of my cars instead of trimming plastic.

GPS satellites are military. They can change civilian accuracy from 1m to 50m depending how warm and fuzzy they're feeling that day.
In rc airplanes we wrap foam around the sensor to take care of some of the differences. It doesn't allow air to just rush in and hit the sensor

Yall got to gather a crowd launching those cars like that. Me and my buddy was at a park jumping 2 kraton 6s's of a rp I brought and we had strangers cheering us on and we probably were only going 20 to 25 foot high.

Gps uses satellite update and if it's overcast can greatly effect accuracy with signal bounce on clouds

I made my own RC speed-o-meter using an Arduino and it uses GPS Satellites to measure speed and altitude.
Laser is the only true way, you could try a laser range finder made for shooting either mounted to the car or below with a ground person. Also you could use a construction laser with reciever on the car and as it passes over laser it would give a reading. But either way you need a known starting point fixed at ground level.
You can measure the height by recording the time it takes to drop.
Kev you have got to get a vxl bandit and just send it. You wont be dissappointed

I suspect that how the car is sitting on it’s shocks as it hits the ramp makes a big difference. The ones where the car is pulling a wheelie as it hits the ramp definitely don’t go so high, nice and low and flat seems to go best.
Also, no, GPS isn’t very accurate at all on height. You can calculate the height accurately from the hang time measured off the video though if you really want to know.

I’m thinking you need to build a custom vert ramp and blow that record out of the water Kev!
The type of phone (iphone or andriod) will not have an impact on the accuracy of the measurements. Height, speed, etc are 100% determined by the GPS units themselves, and the phones only download the data from them.
The GPS units each will be out of sync on the instantaneous time acquiring data points, connected to potentially different satellites, and will each have their own +- accuracy on position. Basically, there will be multiple factors on "signal to noise" and they can't be trusted to high resolution. Seems like the resolution in this case is *maybe* +-20ft or more, but maybe the box says, or the box could be lying/ manufacturer didn't have a good test to estimate it...

You're mistaken. That's a long jump, not a high jump. Richard Saxton jumped 131 ft distance not high. There is no official high jump record other than an unofficial 41 ft jump which they already beat in this video. For an RC car to go 131 ft high it would be almost impossible at this time without wings. Also, the long jump by team Associated has been beat by Kevin Talbot. 60 meters 196 ft. So yes Kevin's attempts are beyond impressive.

The SkyRC performance analyser that you are using does not use GPS to measure height, it uses a barometric altimeter. As such it is significantly affected by impact and is also quite inaccurate at low altitude, it is designed to measure the height of aircraft not jumping cars, at hundreds of feet above ground level it is accurate, not so much at 50 feet or so.

I wonder how that printed motor support is going to cope with motor heat. It's actually stopping cooling airflow around the bottom of the can.
Civilian GPS isnt known for its Altitude Accuracy but is probably better than air pressure.

Well yes.. GPS altitude is extremely inaccurate. The system is designed and tuned to work best on the horizontal plane.
i witnessed the world record rocket powered eb48 2.0 300ft jump at psycho nitro blast this year... he also went about 60' high i would say

@@KevinTalbotTV I don't know how he measured it & yes I mentioned to Dave (HardcoreRC) I thought the gps wasn't accurate for heights when I used it I would get inconsistent results.
I think I'm going to do some tests & post my findings. 🙂 going to a multistorey car park & walking up each floor & film the gps. It should give the same value for each floor (ie 1st floor for example 15ft & 2nd floor 30ft & 3rd 45ft etc) It should be repeatable.
that wont be accurate as you are giving the gps time to react, at the end of the vid you can see that these things are not accurate at all

Your test was better comparing 2 at the same time.
So back to my original idea, set a jump near a wall & you can measure how high it got on the wall (jumping with the wall to the side & not in front 🤣)

You need to find a Vert ramp and put a ruler on it. Like they do in Bmx Vert
When you go from horizontal to vertical in the ramp the chassi hits the ramp and you loose all the speed. To loose shocks.👌

Just my experience, but don't go full throttle before the ramp. Then go full throttle as soon as you enter the ramp. Higher jump.
If you hit full throttle way before the ramp, you get a longer jump, but not as high.
I could be wrong, but that's my experience.
