i think the neat thing about this game is that it moreso tests your sight reading if anything, which can get challenging but is pretty fun to attempt lol
My girlfriend spent her highschool in drumline, and won a bunch of awards for it. She had no problem with the measures where it plugged way more notes into a single measure than you'd expect. Apparently this is basically a game they'd do, where the lead plays some weird measure or two and everyone else had to repeat it.
I used to study music. The 5 notes in a 4 tempho is a quintola, where you have to fit five quarter notes in a 4 space, so you have to do it faster. Similarly the 3s are triolas, where you have to usually fit 3 eights in a single quarter note One of the worst rythm exercises we had at school was punching triolas with one hand and normal eights with the other hand.
haven't seen your content befor,e, but already your ... avatar(?) is instantly iconic and recognizable, I've literally never seen a youtuber pose their own silhouette like that as a way to still hide their face yet have a presence. I'll edit this comment when I finish watching: wow, love your editing style, always a fan of fusion commentary/highlight videos, this makes me wonder what your style would look like as a full scripted commentary or a full unscripted gameplay highlights (as someone who can't read sheet music, this feels like a game that is solely audio cues 😭)
I really liked the intro!! And your editing style too :D I agree, relying on visual cues is annoying but it kinda tests your own inner metronome and understanding of note values. And that 5 count definitely is rhythm hell lol
Yeah, I actually don't really how it turns off the audio, its cool that it forces you to read sheet music, and from a gameplay point of view it adds SO much tension! I think I'm just sad I can't play with my eyes closed :( Also thanks for the kind words :)
those weird groupings are called tuplets, i like messing around with them a lot triplets (groups of 3) are fairly common, the groups of 5 seem to show up every once in a while, but you won't typically see anything higher than that except for in really specific music communities lol
i like this one because it’s less a rhythm game strictly and more a music game if that makes sense? like it’s sightreading rhythms but not a rhythm game. if you stop thinking about it as a rhythm game it improves
Ah yes, Rhythm Hell. I vaguely remember seeing this ger turned into a game, but I've never played it. Maybe I should give it a go! I get what you mean about pulling audio cues when it should be keeping those and pulling visual cues. That reminds me of "Tunnel" from _Rhythm Heaven_ (DS), where you have to keep the beat in a moving car, but sometimes you pass through a tunnel where the music fades out but you have to keep going. Unlike this though, at least in Tunnel you just have to keep a constant beat. Also, is it just me, or does the clock tick down even when you're not doing inputs? That's what strikes me as infuriating; you can lose through no fault of your own, just because the game withholds chances to increase the timer. I've had that happen sometimes in Ouendan/osu!, and it's always frustrated me. No worries about not being able to talk; sometimes, you gotta focus, and that gives us the chance to listen to the in-game music! A few years back, I did a playthrough of a rhythm game, and I tried to keep quiet during gameplay to let myself focus and the viewers listen to the music. But wanting to talk is fair too; since you're cutting a lot, you're clearly focusing more on your gameplay, so it's important to keep the viewers engaged. Also, I had an inkling you weren't a rhythm master, but it's still fun to see you try new games regardless! Floundering is half the fun, after all. Keep at it!
When I was in band our director, as a bit of a joke, once gave us a version of the Mission: Impossible theme, usually notated in 5/8, that was for some unholy reason notated in 4/4, meaning it was "oops all quintuplets". I fesl like that sheet music would have given you a stroke.
I'm not much into rhythm games, so I'm not sure yet if I'm gonna stick around this channel or not, but I just wanted to say, wow your video style is amazing. Just using silhouette like that, it is very, well, stylish
I think you could show a little more gameplay, but I love your videos regardless! By the way, I think you should try out ADOFAI (A Dance of Fire and Ice). If you ever decide to play it, I want to warn you that it's not a Rhythm Heaven style rhythm game, since it has no audio cues, but I won't spoil anything else. Also, if you try Rhythm Hell again in the future, you should know that whenever you get the tuplets (5/7/9-tuplets) or any other tricky bar, you can listen for the other seal's claps and adjust yourself if you ever get the timing off. It definitely takes quite a bit of practice, but it's a really useful skill to have!
i think the neat thing about this game is that it moreso tests your sight reading if anything, which can get challenging but is pretty fun to attempt lol
Yeah, I do actually like how it tests your ability to read sheet music! This game is actually really addicting

Honestly the exercise where you copy the leader sounds like a lot of fun!

Neat names!
My musical teaching called them triplets for 3s and quintuplets for 5s. Sextplets for 6, and so on. Never heard of the -ola suffix before.
🤓
Pass the salt and pepper, pass the salt and pepper, pass the salt and pepper...
that's a simple polyrhythm but I can see how people who aren't familiar spite them
@@brendandangelo715 maybe it's a language difference, I'm from Poland and we call them triolas, probably from Latin or other Italian.
as of a year ago, someone managed a score of 63
Oh hey, I also saw that video

Honestly, I’m glad people still acknowledge Louie’s beautiful work. For a video/game made in 2023, I’m surprised it still holds up today!
I'm just surprised he turned it into a real game! It worked out because I always wanted to try it but never got the chance
@@Derpediah I see, glad you played it lol
It hasn't been that long since 2023. Why exactly would it age badly? :o
@@apastelnerd idk lol
2023 was literally a little more than a year ago wdym "it still holds up" helppp is this how people think

"As a rhythm master!" Famous last words

bro would break down and cry in the presence of prog rock
I played one round and got a score of 23.
3:33 ehh it looks fine (i could be wrong tho)
This is an endless Game. Rhythm Heaven also has These.
so glad UA-cam recommend me this; hopefully you introduce other people to Louie Zong with this video; he is a delight
my favorite independent guy

Also for the love of god, if you edit a game about rhythm, _don't cut off-beat!_
I think the intro is awesome! So does your style! :D
I hope you have/had a nice day!
You truly learned how to [rhythm]

Good intro. Now you are Personadiah.
not into the zoomer editing where you cut out all the "slow" "nothing happening" parts. it makes a video about rythm very much unwatchable
Yeah I’d prefer either no gameplay at all or a full chunk of gameplay rather than a cut up section of gameplay which felt kinda awkward and choppy
That’s what I liked about it haha
But yeah both have their place depending on person

Oooh, I've played ADOFAI! That game is so fun (although I'm terrible at it...)
Also I'll try to add more gameplay, thanks for the suggestion!
I think you'd really like Rhythm Doctor
I thought he would make a video about fnf
thumbs up
bro doesnt know about fnf, osu or gd
As a gd player, its less of a rhythm game and more a music based platformer
Oh cool I didn’t know either thanks!
fnf is just slightly worse inputted keyboard ddr, could be a lot worse
nobody tell this guy about nested tuplets
I think most of us try not to ackknowledge that nested tuplets exist in the first place...
