Coconut Island protrudes from the Pacific Ocean as the peak of a lone volcano, far off the Costa Rican coast. At the end of the 18th century, the English author Robert Louis Stevenson is said to have received the inspiration for his novel „Treasure Island“ here.
The tiny island comprises just 25 sqm² and is covered by an impenetrable jungle. Numerous streams, waterfalls and gorges epitomise the world‘s largest uninhabited rain forest island. Due to its isolation, unique flora and fauna have developed here. Today, as a national park and world natural heritage, the island is closely supervised by park rangers.
The outstanding underwater world surrounding the island abounds with marine fauna of every description. Hardly any other destination is as well-known for its countless large fish varieties, especially hammerhead, reef and offshore sharks. The film‘s author submerged to depths up to 400 meters on board the „Deep Sea“, a modern research submarine. During the dive, he ucceeded in shooting material of rare deep sea fish and shark species, which have never before been sighted near Coconut Island.
Been to Cocos 4 times on the Sea Hunter and Undersea Hunter. Spectacular place to dive. The dive operation and crew are second to none and food on the boat is excellent.
Last time I dove Cocos they weren’t doing night dives, too bad cause there was always a lot of White Tip action. A woman died in a tiger shark attack a couple of seasons earlier and night dives were considered too dangerous. We saw Tigers a number of times on day dives though they stood off quite a distance. Beautiful creatures. I disagree with the narrator’s calling the Hammerhead’s head “grotesque”, I think this adaptation is fascinating.
@@franciscovarela7127 WOW! this is really interesting! Not too sure I'd be brave enough to enter shark infested waters omg

Indeed the previous one was incomplete. I have just recently seen it. And so thank you so much for this re-upload!
What an amazing job/career/home for the park rangers‼️ I commend them for leaving this island virtually untouched by civilization. With pristine places like this disappearing everyday, it's a comfort to know that there are still people who revere its magnificence and don't want to see it spoiled by hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, bars and hordes of vacationers and profit seekers. It would be wonderful to see this island every five years, just to see how nature transforms its landscape . Thank you for sharing this documentary. It's a beautiful place.
Fascinating Island! This is more precious than gold!!

can you imagine the fish that used to be in our oceans and rivers were as plentiful as this? we've depleted so many animals on the earth. I am so glad this island exists in peace! :) 🌷🌿🌼🌱🌷
Beautiful documentary . So serene ❤️
That's beautiful, I'd love to travel someday.
microevolution yes. Variation within a species. Macroevolution NO, no evidence of change of kinds. God made every species "after their kind" (Genesis 1)

I don't understand why these documentaries get so many dislikes, maybe because they so good that you get people trying to bring it down, I can't wait to watch the next one, and the next one, until their no more to watch, then I will watch them again.
The hammer head sharks passing right above you... what an incredible sight. I can’t imagine what an experience this would be.
Truly amazing! Great underwater experiences!

Que vídeo tan interesante y que bien logrado. Muy bueno!
LOOKS LIKE A DREAM!!
Great narration and understanding of behaviour. Thank you
Very educational and entertaining ! Thank you .
What an amazing video! Keep it up!
I've always found it amazing how a school of thousands of fish move in perfectly synchronization!
And birds. It has been determined that each individual only has to keep track of up to 6 neighbours and the entire school/flock can act in unison. Bottom-up organization.
Domino effect??? Or they're like ants that trasmit some signal to communicate movements?
11:45 so many fishes...Awesome
I really, really love this channel, it is so educational, you take us around the world 🌎 without leaving our home. Thanks for the great work. And all the thousands of miles you travel to bring us those stories.❤
Love this beautiful filming and great narration
❤️❤️❤️So beautiful thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you.
Yes, it’s “Cocos” Island.
I was there back in 1985 as a volunteer with Earth Watch, supporting Dr. Tracy Warner who was doing field research on the Cocos Island Finch, for her PHD. There were 7 of us Americans and 3 Costa Rican National Guardsmen. (Costa Rico had to keep a presence on the island.)
We landed in the ocean surf, slept in tents, and bathed in a stream that had been damned up to make a pool.
A most magical time!
A finch...?...a doctorate on a finch?...ok..I guess
This is really a great documentary not only on the island waters itself, but the circle of life. How some fish actually care for the sharks for example, and don't get eaten.
Excelent documentary, while waiting home 🤭 for the next vacation.
The Park Rangers on this Island found one of the most legendary and rich buried treasures ever found after a big storm eroded the beaches! I just wonder if they were rewarded for telling the Costa Rican Government about the discovery?
Mamon
I'm sceptical... maybe a great big thank you...we all know how generous powerful people are with money 🙄
Zeft
Weather did the leg work
The treasure is buried in the next island they make people believe it was there so people look in the wrong place
What a beautiful place on earth! And Yes, it's in the existence. The whole Island is known of its Virginity. The waterfalls, the trees, the sea, the school of different kinds of fishes, the sharks of all kinds, the passing through of a Whale Shark and the Manta rays. All of this was Incredibly Stunning. Wow!! I just hope that Pirates will not visit the Island. For the watchers, please keep safe the Island from the Abusers💕💛
Especially the creatures under the sea.❣🧡🥰
Beautifully Done! Thank you for sharing this exceptional work! I have never enjoyed under water recording like I did with this one.
beautiful and informative, thanks
This place is a natural jewel , why searching for gold, its a treasure in itself .

I hope this is a reliable channel
I enjoy it
OUTSTANDING!
Ha ha ha, goodness the commentator's remarks are the best part of this video: "pest control and grooming service, a service that is in high demand, sometimes sharks have to wait in line to be served', that creativity makes watching this so enjoyable.
Nurse sharks do that.
Very Great full to such divers and the team because of whom I can enjoy this marine life in my drawing room
Thanks for the lovely video of te Cocos Island.
All these people complaining about the video content 🙄 If you know anything about the Cocos you would know it is a goals dive area. There is no other reason to go there... THANK YOU for this upload. I cant wait to dive there 🦈
A beautiful island and waters around it. It's great that it is being kept in its natural state. Thank you for sharing a wonderful video and documentary.
Amazing is the technology,to be able to capture pictures that are rare to see.
In the Daily FOX-soap , are actors of Rupert Murdoch instead of reporters and are hysterical playing “the making of Trump””. Hannity is the trumpet of Trump. Let Bolton tell about the secret server in the Senate. Let the Senate hear the facts from Bolton about he Secret Server.
