My father owned a Dodge and Plymouth dealership from around 1934 to 1969, and each summer Chrysler Corporation would debut the new vehicles for the coming year. We were in the Dallas Region so we would drive about 4 hours to Dallas to see the new vehicles. Chrysler would make a big production of it and would have off Broadway type groups perform a theme type show between the presentation of all the new vehicles. It was really great entertainment with a lot of skits, singing, dancing, and lots of beautiful ladies. In 1964 I was 17 when we went to the new car showing. I am almost certain they played this short movie before they introduced the new 1965 Dodge trucks. Back then trucks would go years with one body style that never changed from year to year. One year we had a truck that didn’t sell before the next years truck came out. There were no changes from year to year, and the truck had close to 0 miles on it, so Daddy sent the title back to Dodge and they issued a new title showing the truck was the next year’s model. They only did that on trucks, and it was rare, but the government stopped that practice a couple of years later. I also remember when Daddy received the first truck that cost $2000.00. He didn’t think any farmer would ever pay that much for a truck. Times have changed.

Yeah why don't we look things up and consider the source the source on a juicy story like this, or non-story, will most likely somebody who's trying to make money, get you to buy a book, magazine or click. apparently there were rumors of affairs on the side of marriages with both Andy and Don - we don't know, so let's not go there. This is the world wide web. You just permanently potentially slandered someone without facts what we do know, information that came directly from his mouth is that Don knotts came from a very difficult childhood, father was an alcoholic, domestic abuse - he was under the care of a psychiatrist for many years and suffered from depression. we didn't learn this because he committed a crime and went to court and use this as an excuse to get off. According to his daughter maybe? Some family member in an interview who is present at the deathbed reported... as he was passing away, he was still joking to the point where people had to leave the room cuz they didn't want to laugh at a deathbed scene. But in this case.. they probably should have stayed cuz that's what a comedian looks for. see if you can find interviews of credible people talking into a camera where it's not cut and edited... Don't get anything second or third hand - those people are in business to sell you something. There should be plenty of interviews of Don knotts speaking for himself all over youtube.. just click and learn, before you burn someone please I'm just reminding you of something you already know. Have a nice day!
I thought the video title said Don Knotts and DON WIlson, from "The Jack Benny Show." The idea of the two of them together sounded like epic comedy. But then I realized I was wrong. LOL
I think the area where they crashed the Dodge was filmed either at Iverson Ranch in Chatsworth, California or at Corriganville over the hill from Chatsworth in Simi Valley, California.
I like how Dodge was using a man wearing a crevatte to sell heavy duty trucks. Anyone know who the ice cold brunette in the black dress was? Hubba hubba
Check out 9:34, look how narrow that cab is. Can you imagine being in an accident? Absolutely no crumple zone to absorb energy. This was when the people were the crumple zone. lol
@OsbornTramain, This is one of the rare promos among short subjects that need to return to theatre screens on a regular basis instead of the advertisements of local businesses.
I had 66 Dodge pickup with a 318, and there was NO STOPPING that truck. Put 1.5 yards of gravel in the back, couldn't tell it was there. Pulled two horses and a trailer, I forgot they were back there
Don Knotts never shied away from making a buck, he actually did a book about building and repairing with Concrete for Quikrete......Somehow I'm guessing Don Knotts knew very little about concrete.
This brought back a old memory deer hunting with my Dad. His buddy had a Crew Cab Power Wagon, and as we were driving on a dirt road, we hit a rain check doing at least 35 mpg. No seatbelts in those days, or we never used them everyone in that truck hit the roof multiple times. Yee Haw!
What a relic of another time. A time I remember well. A Power Wagon of about this vintage winched my truck out of a man-eating mud hole in the 90’s. Nothing to it, the guy said.
There's a lot of things from Yesteryear that would not be allowed today, because we live in the "Politically Correct" era, anything and everything offends somebody! My aunt had an old Dodge Truck 4x4. They went everywhere with that thing. No telling how many jeeps they helped get unstuck that were trying to take the same routes.
So true. I was in grade school but I remember this time. How far America has gotten of the road of commonsense and knowing and believing the difference between right and wrong...
Wow the reason the women then were real showstoppers was cause they didn't have tats, piercings or overweight. Women's lib changed all that to what you have today.. Sorry to say..
If you were 20 to 30 pound overweight back in the day, a Woman was considered "Fat". Now, a woman can be 100 pounds overweight and it's okay.....as long as they have self esteem.....who cares about health care costs. The folks, even the 50 year old men in this film are of bodies that Human Bodies were designed for. The Human Body wasn't designed or created or evolved to be as Fat as people are.
There will never again be another Don Knotts. The man could do comedy with no effort.

apparently there were rumors of affairs on the side of marriages with both Andy and Don
- we don't know, so let's not go there.
This is the world wide web. You just permanently potentially slandered someone without facts
what we do know, information that came directly from his mouth is that Don knotts came from a very difficult childhood, father was an alcoholic, domestic abuse - he was under the care of a psychiatrist for many years and suffered from depression.
we didn't learn this because he committed a crime and went to court and use this as an excuse to get off.
There should be plenty of interviews of Don knotts speaking for himself all over youtube..
just click and learn, before you burn someone please
I'm just reminding you of something you already know.
Have a nice day!
Ask Thelma Lou and "Nita,Jua-ua-ua-ua-nita"!
Literally, as in his movie “The Love God”.
Don is crazy funny love it.
R.I.P. Don Knotts & Dick Wilson!
Now they both belong to the ages.
I thought the video title said Don Knotts and DON WIlson, from "The Jack Benny Show." The idea of the two of them together sounded like epic comedy. But then I realized I was wrong. LOL
Outstanding 😇😇🌹🌹💖💖🧐🧐😉😉😏😏🍻🍻
I didn't see that coming crashing a brand new Dodge truck. Great tv ad back then.
That was a Shocker !
I think the area where they crashed the Dodge was filmed either at Iverson Ranch in Chatsworth, California or at Corriganville over the hill from Chatsworth in Simi Valley, California.
@@spiff8862 Some of the background looked a lot like the backgrounds in MASH
I like how Dodge was using a man wearing a crevatte to sell heavy duty trucks.
Anyone know who the ice cold brunette in the black dress was? Hubba hubba
Actually, it’s just a theatrical promotional.
They made fun of the fact that Mr. Knotts had "full control",..shows how big of a star he was...
Check out 9:34, look how narrow that cab is. Can you imagine being in an accident? Absolutely no crumple zone to absorb energy. This was when the people were the crumple zone. lol
Wow, incredible talent!
@OsbornTramain,
This is one of the rare promos among short subjects that need to return to theatre screens on a regular basis instead of the advertisements of local businesses.
I had 66 Dodge pickup with a 318, and there was NO STOPPING that truck. Put 1.5 yards of gravel in the back, couldn't tell it was there. Pulled two horses and a trailer, I forgot they were back there
😂
What a gem!
Worth more than one view!
I had Googled 1965 Dodge truck, whilst trying to find one for sale like my dad's truck we virtually grew up in.
And then, this appears..
Imagine trying to pull off that ad today 🕺💃🕺💃😂🤣
women objectified, native Americans stereotyped, big "bad" gas guzzler trucks glorified. I can hear the lisping zombie SJW hoards stirring already.
Isn't that the old don't squeeze the charmin guy lol
Yes Dick Wilson. Also Darren's drinking buddy on Bewitched.
Mr. Whiffle!!

Don Knotts never shied away from making a buck, he actually did a book about building and repairing with Concrete for Quikrete......Somehow I'm guessing Don Knotts knew very little about concrete.
Truly one of my favorite actors right here God bless Don knotts😊 rest in peace young man rest in peace
I love my Dodge truck....it never lets me down 🚚
This brought back a old memory deer hunting with my Dad.
Thelma Lou might get jealous
Barney has Thelma Lou in his “back pocket.”
Possibly.
According to the words of Gomer.
That was…AWESOME!!!! Almost like watching a Russ Meyer film!!!
I never knew don was such a hit with the ladies.
Really enjoyed this video.. imagine these vehicles with new drivetrain from dodge.
Power wagon with that familiar clang of the door closing.
That closing door sound brought back memories
@@thekingsilverado9004 Nice! Take good care of that.
Having Indians on the warpath would NEVER be in any video made in today's "PC" environment.
Right, they're all at the Casinos now. they get there on the roads we pay the taxes to build.
Not to mention, the blatant Male Chauvinism. Feminists would have a field day. Good times.
There's a lot of things from Yesteryear that would not be allowed today, because we live in the "Politically Correct" era, anything and everything offends somebody! Society needs to take a good shit and loosen up a bit, can you imagine a show like, "Married With Children" being produced today, it would never make it to the air waves, because it would offend somebody!
@@edbouman5013 yeah. The Catholics have gotten pretty cocky these days too. PC won’t let us discriminate against them. Sad.
@darkwood777 PC won’t let us say anything negative about the Catholics likewise could in the good old days
I owned a 69 W200...Wish they still made trucks like that.
Big Payloads, You better believe it, love Don Knotts
Absolutely awesome
vehicles for the coming year. We were in the Dallas Region so we would drive about 4 hours to Dallas to see the new vehicles. Chrysler would make a big production of it and would have off Broadway type groups perform a theme type show between the
13:45 they should have had a perfect non-wrecked truck hidden at the bottom and come roaring up. "Greatest Truck Ever Built"
That scene you laid out reminds me of Don Adam’s as Get Smart falling and then getting right back up as if nothing happened.
My aunt had an old Dodge Truck 4x4. They went everywhere with that thing. No telling how many jeeps they helped get unstuck that were trying to take the same routes.
Great find.
That was some great stuff.
The Power Wagon was and still is one of the best 4x4s out there.
I miss those years best years of my life
The VAN was cool back then.
This is great 🤠
So true. I was in grade school but I remember this time. How far America has gotten of the road of commonsense and knowing and believing the difference between right and wrong...
@5:24 reminds me of finding bread crumbs in sponge boy cartoon.
RiP Don Knotts, genius and comedian
Just found your awesome channel. Thank you!!
He will be missed.
This was very entertaining and very unexpected.
Thank you
I would love to have that van!!!!
That was awesome, and I wish we still had trucks and women like that these days.
Don Knotts being alpha AF...
lOL YOU just HAD to be one to drive THOSE.,.,.trucks done now....not so much. PS Came here from Markl Evanier NEWS FROM ME.
I didn't know Barney worked for Dodge? He's so funny.
I have more videos of him for Dodge, he did them for a number of years.
@@OsbornTramain Great! When are you putting up more?
@@rickduquette3399 they are up, search for a 1966 dodge film knots, you'll find it
Don Knotts tearassin in a cabover and set of doubles is pretty sweet.
I believe your spot on about it being the LAST generation.
The women are incredibly beautiful, and the trucks are super cool.
That was Awesome!
I like how it turns into an episode of bang bus in the end
