I meditate almost every day for the last 2 years...over thinking causes anxiety....I used to over analyze situations ...people...things I thought I did that were stupid etc all the time...and realized there is no benefit..and it won't change something that alreay happened....so if I start going down that road I just say Nope in my head and stop.....and most of the time it works now...

meditation can be very helpful for insomniacs. make sure you understand what meditation really involves before you start though, it's so easy to do something you think is meditation but really does not benefit in any way.
one of the most common and best ways is through vipassana, also called mindfullness. what you do is to simply try and keep a clear awareness of all rising phenomena without judgement or distraction. this includes sounds, smells, sensations, pain, but also thoughts and emotions. even boredom, doubt and frustration. simply be aware of these phenomena. if you are sitting down and you feel a bit of an itch, instead of trying to immediately relieve it, just observe the sensation as it appears in consciousness. you will quickly see that it wont bother you any more. liking, disliking, desire and aversions are all mental projections onto these objects of consciousness. if you feel doubt that meditation will work, simply observe the feeling of doubt and it will fizz out on it's own. i hope this helps.

I want to learn how to meditate. I think this can really help me with my problems in life. If I can just find my self again and be happy I know I can make everyone around me feel happy also. My kids my partner my family. I don’t have any friends but I have family. If I can just learn this I think I can really move forward in life. The Benifits from this I hear sound so unreal. Thanks for sharing this video. You’ve made my night. Thank you

I use meditation quite the opposite. I often feel that during the day I am occupied with constantly doing different things and never really have time to think about what is happening in my life. When I meditate I like to think about my life - where I am, what I am doing, why I am doing it etc. This helps me be grateful for my experiences and realize what I should be doing that makes me really happy. I believe that we can control our thoughts to be more positive by being aware of them and realize why things are happening.

You get it! Real meditation is the download and appropriate filing of information in order to grow intellectually. The "meditation" described in this video is the antithesis of that, A.K.A becoming braindead on purpose. Don't feel bad though, they're halfway to their goal.

I've come to the conclusion that meditation is utterly useless to some. Control of your mind isn't about removing thoughts that aren't directly positive, but understanding why those thoughts are there, and then the thoughts that lead to those thoughts and so on. Same applies for emotions. Eventually you'll get to root of what caused those thoughts or feelings and realize it doesn't really matter. Nothing actually does.

Meditation is the art of non-clinging to any thought or observation, it’s where one allows each element of existence to be itself flower then disappear without prolonging its state. Meditation can also be practiced in any state of existence. 🙏🏽

The large majority of thoughts are useful because processing of information requires time. Thoughts build up to become new thoughts, or what call conclusions. Everything we do is useful, but meditation in particular helps us discern over what thoughts need our attention and which don't.

Meditation is not about switching of your thoughts, as the video tells us. Its also not about having positive thoughts the next time someone steps on your feet. Its about observing whats happening internally, and not identifying with whatever that is. As told thoughts pop up spontaneously, so whether these are so labelled "positive or negative thoughts", they don't belong to you, they come and go naturally. The calmness that comes often times is a very welcome side effect, but not the main goal.

Meditation doesnt mean thinking less, its more like a game of focus
. The better you can focus, the less likely you get thoughtprocesses taking over your thinking. You could say that you filter and reduce your brains tendency to make neural noise impacting you.

david ramziz Yes it does work to train your focus. It is similar to train yourself in athletic exercises, you improve results as your training goes on. How quick you get improvements depends on your previous level , and on how efficient your exercises are. Remember that resting/processing is also part of the path of improving focus. If you find a good strategy, it is possible to improve within a three day period.
If you want to develop a life skill it requires that you ingrain it as a habit.
Focus when studying can be a problem if you get distracted. A common way to solve this is to find a peaceful quiet place, and study in bursts of 20 to 40 minutes with 5 to 15 minutes breaks inbetween. This helps you maintain a good focus level and avoid distractions.
If distracting thoughts is a problem, it helps often to meditate/introspect to see what may be the cues of the thoughts (habit). Then there are several ways of dealing with this depending on your situation.

What if thoughts are neutral or simply rational? For example if someone steps on our shoe, we don't HAVE to think "how dare he?". We could judge rationaly if it was done on purpose in which case we SHOULD react negatively, or if it was done because he/she was pushed or if they lost their balance, in which case we should react positively and either support the person that was pushed or check if they are aalright in case they lost their balance.
Thoughts can also be obserations and conclusions derived from them. To use the same example, you could observe that someone is about to push another person towards you and judge whether you want to stay there and hold them so they don't hurt themselves, or you could decide to move out of the way and not have your foot stepped on. Or you could observe that someone is old/wounded or whatever and predict that they might lose their balance. Again, you can have a rational reaction and decide whether you want to be helpful or neutral.
I'm going to look into meditation a bit more before I make my decission about it. I just feel this video oversimplified its examples to make a point and it left me with more questions than answers.

In these 10 seconds I really thought about nothing.
It happens not so often that a random thought comes to my mind.
But I don't really like that. I feel like I'm on standby all the time and just when I need to think about something, I do it :/

    Meditation transforms our lives. 😇
Mind stops chattering with daily practice of Meditation.
"Shavasan" is a very easy and effective tool to meditate. 🙏

This can changes our lives. We need to learn that how to unlearn what we have learned. Just teach your self to let it go.

Meditation isnt to stop thought. Its to stop being caught up in our minds. If you try and stop your powerful mind, it will burst eventually - like a great river. Try to see your thoughts and emotions as clouds passing by. Some are small, some large, some grey, some black. The clouds always change, but your awareness of them is always pure.

+Improvement Pill I practice mindfulness meditation, just focusing on the present moment and trying not to judge my thoughts. That gave me non judgmental mind.
I can now control my emotions and I can choose what emotion I want to feel.

This is being done by Yogis and Rishis of India for the ages. picked up by Buddhist monks as well later. Now all over the Globe several people are practicing it. All the benefits mentioned in this video are only the tip of ice burg. The main goal of Meditation is attain Samadhi.
