Superstition holds to be one technological feat within itself . When Stevie recorded it in 1973 , he broke down the clavinet playing in 8 different and distinct parts . He used a Moog Synthesizer for the bass parts and recorded the drum sequence in 3 different and distinct parts . This is my favorite song from Stevie and it was way ahead of its time .
+Casey Howard Ah, you think so?! Stevie and I were born in the same year. I remember back in the early 60s my parents were raving about this young performer they saw in Atlantic City NJ - it was Stevie and the first I had heard of him before he made it big. Thanks for checking it out Casey.
+Jorge St. Jorge Thank you so much, Jorge. Keep drumming my fellow You Tube Drum Cover Artiste. BTW: in the sidebar of my video is a "Stevie Wonder Superstition Drumless Track", if you want to do a cover of it.
Thankyou!......This is the song I will always play when I want to impress, you too can play this song just right. Stevie played the original drum track and has a great behind the beat feel, you've clearly got that too. Well played my friend.
+Pat Gedeon Music Thank you Pat, and I especially appreciate that coming from a talented guitar player like yourself. I'm listening to your "????" video, brilliant.
Hey Sal! This is awesome man!! I didn't know that you covered this one! I agree the tempo sway is a bit of a stinker, but I love the feel...nice and organic. :) Great seeing and hearing you jam it! Thanks for checking out my cover of it too...I really appreciate it! Have a great and safe Thanksgiving!!
Little Drummer Channel Thank you Jerimy for taking the time to check out the cover. Well I've covered a lot of pop and classic rock, some of which is blocked. Happy Thanksgiving bro'!
Very cool dude. My group is looking into doing it after watching some interesting interpretations of it at a Jazz festival we played at. Funk is something that looks really fun to me but I can't ever seem to get it to sound as fun as I think it should. Good job man, I'll be using this video as reference and inspiration
+Andreas Darmer Thank you my fellow YT Drum Cover Artiste. You know, you could put triggers on your acoustic kit and trigger drum sample software like Addictive Drums, Superior Drummer and Steven Slate on your computer. You should try it, it's not very costly and I could help you with set up.
rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato I'd appreciate that a lot! I got the TD-15KV model of the roland v-drums - I think a few models below yours. I just rarely use it for recording purposes because I can't seem to find a good kit to use, and I think yours sound way better.
+Andreas Darmer First off, I don't use the sounds out of the V-Drum module, I use it to trigger drum set sample software. You could put triggers on your acoustic drums and run that through a MIDI interface or a MIDI to USB cable to you computer. Or use your TD-15KV, which are the same pads and cymbals as my TD-12, but a different module. From the module you would run a cable out of the MIDI out jack to a MIDI Interface to the USB port of your computer. Then you would run a drum sample software program like Addictive Drums, either in its own standalone app or running in a DAW like Pro Tools, or Logic, or Garageband or any other audio editing program. Then you would output the audio from the computer through an audio interface. A very simple one is ONE, by Apogee, for example. From here you could run headphones to hear the song track playing and your drumming, and set your levels so they are balanced to your preference. Following is my set up: Roland VDrum module MIDI out to • MIDI Interface • to USB port to MacBook Pro • running Logic Pro that contains the song audio file & another track that will record my drum tracks or I use the standalone app for Addictive Drums or Superior Drummer • output audio of computer through Apogee Ensemble firewire audio interface • I drum along to a monitor output from the Ensemble audio interface using headphones or in-ear-monitors • bounce down the combined song and drum tracks to a wav or aif file • sync that audio wav or aif file with video file using iMovie '11 and make any edits, like deleting unnecessary video footage • render video and upload it to You Tube channel Let me know if you have any questions. I hope someday to make a tutorial on all of this, I've made several attempts, but it requires a lot organization and scripting to do it right.
+rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato thank you so much for the detailed description. I really want to get this going, so I record good covers when I'm not able to use my acoustic kit. I'm currently only familiar with simple record softwares like Audacity. I'm considering getting a copy of Cubase or Pro Tools to get going with the more advanced stuff. I'm screenshotting your comment - just in case.
+Andreas Darmer I would not use Audacity, - it is useful for unpacking Beatles mogg audio files from the Rockband game, but not much else, as it is very clunky. Something more sophisticated like Pro Tools, or whatever is the equivalent of Garageband for the pc, would be ideal. For 8 years I worked in software engineering at Digidesign in Silicon Valley, the company that created & developed Pro Tools, and so I recommend PTs, you won't regret it. Once you have that software, it won't take much to get up and running, and you can consider me a resource to contact for any of your questions.
+Austin John'D Yes, because unlike the V-drum settings, which are modeled software programs, samples are recordings of real acoustic drums recorded in well-known working studios. The kit triggered on this cover is a Ludwig kit recorded in some well known studio replicating the dry sound of the 70s of which this song was released.
There are a couple of software programs, such as XTRAX STEMS or Moises of eliminating the frequency range of where the drums sit, but for this cover I used a drumless track from a channel on YT.
+Gornbo It's available in America and the Philipines (judging from a comment above). Sorry, I have no control over this, it's a very stupid and self-defeating policy on behalf of the publishers of the song.
+rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato Oh well, too bad. Superstition was one of the first covers I learned on the drums. I really wanted to hear yours. Maybe I'll just move to the Phillipines, Lol.
+urhottto45 Thank you. For a drumless track, just look to your left on the sidebar and you'll see a drumless song track. It's titled: Stevie Wonder Superstition Drumless Track.
+urhottto45 Thank you. For a drumless track, just look to your right on the sidebar and you'll see a drumless song track. It's titled: Stevie Wonder Superstition Drumless Track.

First cover I have seen where the camera was perfect. I can see everything. I hate the ones with the split view for the kick. Very nice playing !!
Thank you for viewing the video and for your encouraging comments.
Ok awesome! Do you buy drum sample packs?
+Austin John'D Yes, for Addictive Drums & Superior Drummer mostly.
Why is it that you hit the snare with your left hand and then your right hand at around 0:20?
No reason, I'm not consciously doing it, it just comes out that way when I'm playing an alternating pattern on the hi-hat.
OK, that's interesting. That would make a cool exercise!
Interesting fun fact Stevie played drums on this cut.
+Morrisman Smith Yea!
Depends on if you believe the guys in the Jeff Beck band who were in the studio next door and have stated that it was in fact Cozy Powell.
@@fearnpol4938 Stevie in a interview I saw said himself he played the Drums
great cover , how do you get your high hat stand so tight and not spinning i have a td-15 and the high hat stand spins too much thanks
Thank you for viewing my cover video. I use a DW 9000 hihat pedal and the rod remains intact.
Would be very nice if you can do a drum cover from Doom and Gloom (Rolling Stones)!
Do drum samples make your vdrums sound a lot better for covers?
+Austin John'D Yes, because unlike the V-drum settings, which are modeled software programs, samples are recordings of real acoustic drums recorded in well-known working studios. The kit triggered on this cover is a Ludwig kit recorded in some well known studio replicating the dry sound of the 70s of which this song was released.
How do you have non drum tracks? Do you edit/eliminate them yourself ?
There are a couple of software programs, such as XTRAX STEMS or Moises of eliminating the frequency range of where the drums sit, but for this cover I used a drumless track from a channel on YT.
Sal, it says the video is not available... Is it because of my country?
+Gornbo It's available in America and the Philipines (judging from a comment above). Sorry, I have no control over this, it's a very stupid and self-defeating policy on behalf of the publishers of the song.
+rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato Oh well, too bad. Superstition was one of the first covers I learned on the drums. I really wanted to hear yours. Maybe I'll just move to the Phillipines, Lol.
Which Roland module are you using?
Big J Manecke
TDW-20 triggering a kit from Addictive Drums.
How did stevie play the drums on the track??
I don't know, you'll have to ask him as I wasn't at the recording session.
Sal, no puedo ver Let it Be en España. Me lo puedes enviar por email?
Gracias
what kind of drum set is that
Roland V-Drums
How much did those cost? Looking to get a drum set and I like the sound of those ones
About $5,000 +
Oh... well nevermind 😂 that's a little over my budget so I'll have to keep looking thank you though for replying, keep rocking!
Great sound and play!! If you don't mind, can you please tell me how to make drumless track tune/👍+1
+rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato Thank you for a quick answer. I found it ! but can I use them by free licence on UA-cam?
+urhottto45
That I cannot tell you because it's up to You Tube and the publisher that holds the right to the song.
OK. I'm sorry by a strange question!
