. Hello to all the MBs!
I believe the Blue Run bottles are distilled at Castle & Key, not Bardstown.
They are not for everyone, but are amazing for a select few. It really is a polarizing brand aimed at the luxury space. I’m a huge fan of the line, and I’m curious to see what happens now that Coors has skin in the game.
Coors is no stranger to sourcing, with their Five Trail & Barmen bottles, though I feel like what I truly love about Blue Run are the things that the couple of people behind the brand have been doing. If those decisions are in someone else’s hands, I worry the brand might lose its identity.
Both, Bardstown Bourbon CO and Castle and Key.
Accurate review. Bought a bottle of the emerald cask strength rye as a gift. While very nicely packaged and overall good juice, it isn't worth the price tag. Knock $40 off and it'd be very competitive.
I got the Blue Run high rye and when I first tasted it I didn’t care for it but once it opened up a bit every sip got better. Now it drinks really nice. Still don’t think it was worth $90 but it’s pretty good
Have to admit
I have the bourbon because my daughter picked it out since it had a butterfly on it
I wasn't disappointed
I love Blue Run products and agree it's a bourbon drinkers Rye. A little pricey but for a special bottle okay
sorry I'm late...
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S.... 🥃
am making a batch of currywurst sauce... smells damn giod here
Frank Herring - I will preach Mother Earth's Carolina Rye until I am put down to rest. Love the MB's.
Dang missed a day, day oh whatever of asking for a Magnificent Bastard Trash Can Shot Cam!
Hello whiskey gods i been watching for 5 years now and only drink like once a month cheers 🍻
Thanks for the video guys 🥃
I bought the high rye bourbon before I found out it was only four years old. All I tasted was youth masking a very generic bourbon flavor. This is the only time I've given away a $100 bottle.
Laphroaig Cairdes is a bit higher priced. I would go for that.
Look at that... He'll even try to mooch points in paper-waste-basketball shots. 😄
Man, it's been great getting reviews for stuff I actually see on shelves here! 🥳
Why did people give Daniel advice on throwing the paper?! I enjoyed guessing if he would make it or not and watching him slowly learn how to do it right.
He was getting worse. Something had to be done.
My questions:
Is it good?
Can I afford it?
Am I willing to spend that much for it?
Any marketing beyond making me aware that the product with a given set of characteristics exists is wasted on me.
Not sure if you can afford it, but as an attempt to answer your question…..
No, it isn’t worth the price, and is solely a cash grab. Avoid.
I really enjoy this whiskey, and just as a quick info blip for who distilled it, Castle & Key distilled it. Jim Rutledge is still responsible for blending, but Castle & Key is the one who distilled it. I've been waiting for Blue Run to be brought on this channel and reviewed, I've been curious what y'all thought about it. I do worry where the brand will go, now that they've been bought out by Coors.
not all of it is C&K the early releases the newer ones are blends from Bardstown
@@aintchorrollmodel182 I was just pointing out this is the one not sourced from Bardstown, cause I think Castle & Key deserves the proper praise and don't see enough of their stuff mentioned online.
Daniel really dialed in the garbage can toss. We need to move the goalpost now 😂
You're thinking of Bradshaw (as in Terry Bradshaw) for your football player
Daniel said it was Peyton Manning with Sweetens Cove
@@cartercothren7759the clue was "lovable" vs "omgwtf".
With the water, maybe the volume differences made the differences (in the glass).
I think Daniel is confusing the city of Bardstown KY with Bardstown Bourbon Company. There are dozens of distilleries in Bardstown, KY.
after chill filtering do distilleries utilize what has been filtered out as a flavoring component for other whiskeys?
I have a random/stupid question… I’ve only seen people proof down whiskey with water. Has anyone tried “proofing up” with a high ABV neutral spirit to see if it brings out anything different? Would it even make a difference or just add heat to the taste?
I was watching this video while eating cheesies hungover and just screamed OJ Simpson at my phone
So...... when is Rare Whiskey Friday coming back?
I had a pour of their normal emerald rye at a whiskey bar. It was okay, but I was not overly impressed. Neither was my brother. Needless to say, I probably will not be interested in going for this brand as it definitely is cost prohibitive for the juice.
Sourcing has never been an issue for me, as long as the company has a blender that's creating the whiskeys being bottled. Now, if they're just tasting a barrel they like and slapping their label on it, that's kinda lame.
I think it's good to still call out what Blue Run is doing so people know you can get similar whiskey (from said known distillery) that could be a better value than these so call "luxury brands offer.
Are these bottles not donated anymore? Weve had 2 episodes without having a magnificent bastarding.
They stopped taking donations back around October 2021 I think and in August of this year they finally got through that backlog. There's a link in the comments where you can send them money towards bottles for the vaults and they'll MB you then.
They completed the backlog of donated bottles a few weeks ago and are now on bottles they choose to source themselves or haven't reviewed.
What the other two answers said. And the plan is to do more accessible products vs the unicorns the MBs were submitting.
Where is the Makers episode?
Guessing the GoT actor was James Cosmo. Storyman.
I think at this point you really need to add a trash can cam so everyone can see exactly what you are shooting at and if you are actually making it.
Sure
My buddy paid $120 retail.. was trying to unload some bottles, including some his one.. could not sell. Even at $80. No one seems to want this bottle. I paid $120 at the same time my buddy did. It’s not worth the $120
A $30 bottle of Old Forester hundred proof Rye beats this overpriced money grab any day! F#
For the Overall Price Blue Run Whiskey SUCKS! Overpriced and Overhyped. Looks like their Butterfly Labels were Designed by Mariah Carey.
