Fun fact: Happy Holiday Stuff was the last Sims related thing done by Maxis Emeryville studio. Sims development moved to The Sims Studio (also known as Maxis Redwood Shores) which works on Sims to these days, while Maxis Emeryville moved to Spore and later the infamous SimCity 2013, after whose "success" the studio was closed down. Just a small trip to the history of The Sims and Maxis 😁

Clint, as much as I enjoy your Sims 4 videos (they're what originally got me to your channel,) I also enjoy seeing you enjoy something like this. I'm happy that you're happy to be playing a Sims game! Have yourself a great holiday! ...also, on the topic of how confusing these editions are, this is like seeing a Ubisoft game and all the editions it comes with. Where's the power point?!
The other thing about the full Stuff Pack is that at least when I got it, it was $10 instead of the standard $20 for Sims 2 Stuff Packs. As someone who loves winter, it was a blast to plop down a custom snow ground texture and decorate everything all the time long before Sims 2 Seasons came out.
To be fair, they had done that earlier in The Sims 1. There was a Christmas tree item in Livin' Large (I think it _might've_ been released on its own earlier on the website), and under certain circumstances I forget at the moment it could summon Santa to deliver gifts, which Sims could open later to get... nothing, aside for a boost to Fun.
I don't know why you're surprised. It's the sims 2. I didn't even realize there was a father time, out of years of playing, but I'm not surprised because the sims 2 is so depth that even to this day so many learn stuff about the game they never noticed.
I remember Barnes & Noble and Target used to push the base game with the Holiday pack on their website all the time. I used to look online for new Sims stuff when it was a gift giving time, and even during my birthday well after Christmas they'd have multiple listings for it on page 1, right up to the Sims 3's release. I guess they realized The Sims and the holidays were a powerhouse combination.
Those last 20 seconds are such a mood. As someone who played The Sims 2 back on release date back in high school, I feel so old now that 2004 is nearly twenty years ago!!
Lol, the shoutout to Blackcats games hit me with a wave of nostalgia. Had completely forgotten about them, their free leech and bonus system. What a great community :)
Happy 37, Clint! I hope you had a great birthday and a merry CHRIIIISTMAS! I have been binging your christmas videos the last week, and man.. It was some of the best stuff to get me in the right mood.
Hey Clint! It's been officially ten years since I've followed your page here on youtube. I just wanted to let you know you are my favourite youtuber ever since. There really isn't no other channel as cozy, comforting and good-feel (and funny) as yours. I've been throught so much in ten years and discovering I love vintage tech and games really saved me, especially since you've introduced me to it all. I hope 2024 will bring you as much joy as you gave me back in 2013. Thank you so much for everything and happy new year. P.S: love the 'old' branding for the holidays.
This video made me so nostalgic for when I didn't have the Sims 3 yet so I would ritualistically watch your reviews on different packs. Complete with a game I've never played myself, you talking about something I'm only half following, and just, a good happy vibe. A very nice Christmas gift.
I haven't seen footage of Sims 2 on hardware from the time in ages, as a kid I didn't even play it till after 3 was already out and since I still play Sims 2 to this day, but obviously playing it in 1440p is a big difference to whatever resolution people were playing on back in the day.
Always nice to see a sims video from u :D Recently got all the dlc for sims 3 and now I’m trying to figure out what mods to use to make the game work perfectly. Also happy birthday 🎉
And a Merry Christmas to you too Clint! As a UK resident who sailed the seven seas of the internet back in the day, the many varied editions of this holiday content were very confusing indeed! Thank you for taking the time to outline the differences between each version. I still feel the most love for The Sims 2 over any other version, so maybe it's time I busted out my old discs and spent a day reinstalling it all!
Wanted to see you cover The Sims 2 content for a long time! Hoping we see more of it, this is really cool! It's for sure more interesting than whatever slop EA is putting out for The Sims 4 these days.

When you flipped around the back of the Happy Holiday Stuff case, a wave of nostalgia hit me as I remember unwrapping it the Christmas it came out. I was a kid holy crap.
One aspect of the summoned Santa that kept happening to the players I hung around with, was how he'd inevitably move into your sim's bathroom. Just bogart the toilet for an hour at a time, often multiple times per visit, and you can't get him out because of the privacy mechanics that forbid low-relationship sims from walking in on each other. Here's a guy you cannot control, who doesn't live there, whom you just met. Surprise: your Christmas present is having to build another bathroom.
just wanted to say thanks for still making Sims content after all these years. I started watching you at age 11 when the sims 3 was still releasing expansions! I think I even made fan art for you at one point lol. I'm 22 now and it makes me super happy that new LGR sims videos still come out! Even if they're for the ten billionth Sims 4 pack, watching you review the Sims still brings me a lot of comfort and joy
I remember going to any stores in the mid-2000s and seeing a lot of Sims bundles on sale. I didn't own a pc at the time so I couldn't take advantage of any of the deals or editions.
You always see piles of these Sims packs at thrift stores. Whenever I see them I think wow, someone spent hundreds of dollars on these and here they sitting on a shelf and no one wants them.
Someone gifted this to me all those years ago and it confused the hell out of me. I thought I was getting a full on expansion pack, but all I got was the funky snowman stereo and lots of dead sims to christmas tree fires. :D
I didn't even have this pack but I was still grinning with nostalgia during all the gameplay. Also the phrase "period accurate hardware" rearranged my synapses.
10:10 I'm very close to being able to say I'm in my mid 40s, which I'm pretty sure should be impossible...the steady forward march of time is more like a casual walk, then a sudden sprint lol
That "Ooga-chaka" made me laugh out loud. I was already hearing it in my head. So I got the first Holiday one and the a little later got the Deluxe Edition, with Night Life included. Not wanting to lose Night Life, I've always wondered what I was missing from the Holiday Pack. Now I know. :%)
Oh man I missed this, I OWNED this version of the base game! Edit: The one with the Happy Holiday stuff included. I never knew there were this many holiday/festive versions
Jolly good video! Gave me a nice dash of nostalgia this (as a long time Sims-fan) and sort of made me want to dig it out and play it again. Merry Christmas, Clint and see you in the new year!
thank you for this very necessary deep dive. i got the 2005 holiday base game bundle for christmas as my first-ever own sims game and it was lit but then i remember being confused by all the stuff packs after and probably convinced my mom to buy the same thing i already had....sorry mom
I'm honestly still surprised they haven't released a The Sims 1 and/or The Sims 2 Complete Collection digitally for sale to this day. (They gave out the sims 2 collection free once, for 2-3 months and never again; but it's not technically "for sale") I supposed there's only one way to get these 2 complete collections and it's in a way EA Games doesn't want you to. But it's either that, finding the games in reality (good luck with that) or nothing.
IIRC, there was a loophole where you request EA support for adding The Sims 2 to your origin account even after the promotion ended by showing your game disc or making a excuse you lost the disc to the EA support but EA being EA they discontinued the loophole years ago.
Ah, the Maxis inserts. I remember buying SimCity for the SNES with birthday money at Wal-Mart (a whole $50) and unboxing it in the backseat. My parents wanted to go get groceries before going home (this was back before Super Wal-Marts were a thing, so they had to go to an actual grocery store), and I got them to leave me in the car while they went in. By the light of a parking lot lightpole, I read my way through the hefty SimCity booklet, getting an education in both city planning and development, as well as game mechanics. When I got home and popped the game in, I hit the ground running.
should do a retrospective and play base game sims 1, 2 and 3 and then review their expansion packs again all these years later to see if your thoughts change
December is a great month for a birthday. Mine and my daughter share this month for our birthdays. So, happy birthday Clint and thank you for all the years of content
Always loved the little snowman stereo from the original pack, but then hated how, due to licensing they changed all the music to it in the Festive Fun Stuff SP.
Woah... 20 years since the release of the first Sims game. I feel especially old 🧓 I played the first one endlessly as a kid. I remember thinking "omg we must've set the game up in the wrong language!", not realizing Sims just speak unintelligible Simlish lol
A correction: The Sims 1 Livin' Large expansion also included a Santa NPC! I completely forgot about the Christmas tree and cookies that pack added.

Oh wow he really did bust out that CircuitCity Gateway to give us cinematic and historically accurate 18fps. This is what real journalism is.
just wanted to say thanks for still making Sims content after all these years. I started watching you at age 11 when the sims 3 was still releasing expansions! I think I even made fan art for you at one point lol. I'm 22 now and it makes me super happy that new LGR sims videos still come out! Even if they're for the ten billionth Sims 4 pack, watching you review the Sims still brings me a lot of comfort and joy
oh i forgot to mention that you also inspired me to start my own collection of physical copies of Sims games! (except 4 of course lmao)
Wow, I really love that you play this on a good old school pc. Makes it more fun.
the nerd in me is so thankful for this, I was always so confused by the different releases/titles of this
Thank you for sharing your videos this year. I always look forward to the new ones. Merry Christmas to you from Nova Scotia, Canada
I remember going to any stores in the mid-2000s and seeing a lot of Sims bundles on sale. I didn't own a pc at the time so I couldn't take advantage of any of the deals or editions.
I could watch Clint play any retro games on these old PCs while showing the setup itself. I love it so much!!
You always see piles of these Sims packs at thrift stores. Whenever I see them I think wow, someone spent hundreds of dollars on these and here they sitting on a shelf and no one wants them.
Clint, I just wanna say that you KILLED IT this year. Every video you've made in 2023 has been a banger. Enjoy your Birthmas holiday!
Someone gifted this to me all those years ago and it confused the hell out of me. I thought I was getting a full on expansion pack, but all I got was the funky snowman stereo and lots of dead sims to christmas tree fires. :D
As ever there’s a mod for that. (To stop the trees and reindeer lights catching fire.) I wouldn’t mind so much if it was a rare event.
that cynical closing comment has me hollering xD Merry Christmas LGR!!! Hope you have a great birthday 🙏
Yes! More Sims 2 content please!
I didn't even have this pack but I was still grinning with nostalgia during all the gameplay. Also the phrase "period accurate hardware" rearranged my synapses.
your pc set up ./ set staging is so glorious looking ! holy shit. excited for the rest of the vid. new fan here!!!
That dancing snowman has absolutely done some shady shit.
So THAT'S why it felt, like there's always a Holiday expansion pack in stores since 2005...
Now I know. :%)
This is like the Angry Video Game Nerd - Chronologically Confused About... episodes :)
Happy Birthday mah'dude!
Oh man I missed this, I OWNED this version of the base game!
Edit: The one with the Happy Holiday stuff included. I never knew there were this many holiday/festive versions
Merry Christmas LGR! I hope your next year brings wonderful things for you. Thanks for all the work you do to bring us old tech goodies!
Jolly good video! Gave me a nice dash of nostalgia this (as a long time Sims-fan) and sort of made me want to dig it out and play it again. Merry Christmas, Clint and see you in the new year!
Super excited for the For rent review! You're doing a good service, and we appreciate your sacrifices. lol
thank you for this very necessary deep dive. i got the 2005 holiday base game bundle for christmas as my first-ever own sims game and it was lit but then i remember being confused by all the stuff packs after and probably convinced my mom to buy the same thing i already had....sorry mom
I'm honestly still surprised they haven't released a The Sims 1 and/or The Sims 2 Complete Collection digitally for sale to this day.
(They gave out the sims 2 collection free once, for 2-3 months and never again; but it's not technically "for sale")
I supposed there's only one way to get these 2 complete collections and it's in a way EA Games doesn't want you to.
Nothing like a lazy geezer review (we're all getting old) to lift my holiday spirits
Showed up as I was going on a break.
Merry Holidaymas, Clint and everyone!
Wow I've been waiting 84 years for another Sims 2 video. I might actually cry. And on this lovely 800x600 (?) high quality screen too
AAAHHHHH!! A Demonoid shout out! Man, I miss Demonoid. The absolute best and uncommon vinyl rips. Where is pbthal these days?
Can't believe this stuff is already about 20 years old.
Amazing stuff, again!! Ohh I think if you did Sims 2 retrospective reviews for all expansions that would be a hit!
pls never quit using Hi res Jazz as background music in your videos 🎵
It suites soooo well☺️
Ah, the Maxis inserts.
I've been waiting for Clint/LGRto cover the Sims 2 for ages!
should do a retrospective and play base game sims 1, 2 and 3 and then review their expansion packs again all these years later to see if your thoughts change
3:01 the Sim in the PJs looks like the Angry Video Game Nerd
I really loved this with Open For Business.. I mad a cute Christmas store and it was so fun to run
I remember thinking "omg we must've set the game up in the wrong language!", not realizing Sims just speak unintelligible Simlish lol
you have yes idea how happy it makes me that you keep the old channel branding just for christmas.
