People cant give a one month notice.... Employers fire you without a one month or two week notice... You are not obligated nor can they give you a bad reference bc of it...
Don’t give one months notice! Especially if you’re in a toxic environment. If the employer has been good to you, give one month. You could end up on unemployment for a month… be careful.
I was being hired by another company, I said I need to give my 2 weeks. They said we need u in a week, it was a "mother company" so the old job respected that....not sure that would have worked the other way around..I was like wow it's whatever.....peace old job!
Ive quit my job gracefully and tried to go back and was DENIED! Doesn't always work, folks. Especially if the job has cliques and people dont like you.
I tried to quit giving one and a half months before on notice but my boss started to treat me way worse and really bad that it became really unbearable and i had to quit two weeks after i gave my first notice.
One month’s notice? You have to be kidding. Even two weeks is too much. It’s an antiquated concept that needs to be done away with. It’s a courtesy that employees aren’t awarded when the tables are turned.
Ghost boss was dumbfound-dead and pissed off. The next 3 wks was filled with passive aggressive behavior and it sucked and he tried to not give me my last check, but today was my last day and I am so HAPPY!
I'm turning in my notice today....last time I tried giving notice (2 years ago), she cried and begged and then tried intimidating me and IT WORKED..I stayed. I cant do it anymore. I am unhappy and I found an amazing opportunity. I have written a letter and plan to give it to her. I'm debating on if I should do it at the beginning of the day or end.....either way it sucks, its awkward and I feel so trapped.
What did you do? You can't stay in an unhappy job to try to make others happy. Don't let yourself be intimidated; this is a sign that you need to get out.
A month notice? I don't think my new job is going to wait a month for me to be available especially when there's plenty of applicants coming in and out their doors. I agree with you on everything else though and will use some of your tips...thank you ❤
Your situation is unique. Most companies today appreciate a notice but rarely accept it. The higher up the management pole you reside the more likely you will be asked to leave quickly. They do not want to pay a high earner who has mentally checked out or worse could possibly be going to work for the competition.
Late, but I can't believe your former bosses balls to say, "Or what?" when you asked for a raise. Absolutely obnoxious and even aggressive. Kudos to you for keeping your composure.
I left my job back in 2010, came back in 2020. Worst decision i've ever made!! The department has made a 180 degree turn for the worst. Hundreds of staff short, terrible terrible management team. I am obviously looking to walk away again. Never feel like your stuck in a job. You can and will do better.
Just gave this a big 👍🏼 and subscribed. Two great bullet points for me..first, the idea of giving a month and second was giving the option for longer if needed. Thank you for taking the time to share this great info.
I just made my first sell with paid traffic, and just want to say you are my #1 reference in this market, , i have only 4 days working with paid ads and not even 1 month in affiliate marketing so thanks for all the massive value, a simple video like that changed my life, keep doing this awesome work!
According to the labour code where I live your employer does not need to give you more than 2 weeks severance pay, so if you give them 4 weeks notice they can fire you on the spot and only have to give you 2 weeks severance.
Thanks for sharing this! Really needed it. I happened to come across it because it's something I've been thinking about doing lately. Reason being is that it's a 12 hour day job with a rotating schedule, and I always have to wake up at 3am just to make it to work by 5am. It takes up most of my days due to the horrid traffic heading back home and having less time to work on myself as well as enjoying life. It also doesn't pay me well enough, and it's not something I went to college for. I'm not looking for other jobs right now because I'm planning on traveling overseas with my family for two weeks this January. So the timing isn't right at the moment. After I come back to the states, I'll be working where I am for a little while as I apply for other jobs with a normal schedule (Mostly Monday to Friday 9-5 types). Even if I become in between jobs close to summer of next year, I'll still have money saved up that'll last me up to at least a year. I know I'll find something else fast, though.
This guy is the worst, I left a few jobs. Two week notice, stay open (worked the hardest the last two weeks), have a counter offer, DO NOT SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT ANYONE OR THE COMPANY, thank everyone for everything
I have 3 months notice, part of contract. But then again it’s Germany. The shitty part for me is that I just got promoted here and the new project is amazing with crazy deadline but the other opportunity is also amazing
I understand the one month notice, I could see for a big company like amazon or McDonald's, it would be very easy to replace an employee, but for smaller businesses with no good benefits it is hard to find and train and get going again
I think for big or small companies it doesn't matter, everyone can be replaced but what can not is the quality of employee they have. I would say quit with two weeks notice, if you start a new job give a 3 week starting date, that way you take one week to recharge.
I told my office manager I was looking, and a week later handed her my two week notice. And she started asking me why, where, which company was I going to to pay me more? And she couldn’t believe it, that someone would pay me more then them.
Awesome stuff John! I heard lots of debate over the years about the 2 week notice and why some people are against it. For me personally, I gave the 2 week notice to my first 2 jobs I had, which I was at both of them for over a year. Now, I’m at my third job and after seeing this, I’m considering the 1 month notice option, since it can get chaotic at times with a small roster of people. Now, I’m currently building my online business and am fully committing to this one path. Speaking of which, do you think you could do a video on shiny object syndrome? I know must new entrepreneurs go through it including myself for almost 2 years 😬😅
I wanna quit my job but I don’t live the lifestyle you do I’ve never earned more than £1500 a month what jobs are paying £30.000 a month, pls sign me up
1. This isn’t applicable advice to most or vast majority for the simple reason that when you’ve found a suitable replacement position to pivot to they’re not likely to wait a month or longer.
Never look back, only look forward! Your leaving for personal needs and not their business needs. Time is money so the minimum notice is best; ghost them, no notice them. I still remember when I made my first 100k per hour, I was never really loyal to being a wage slave.
Those are really good advices, but how do I keep discreet if I have a very good relationship with my boss? If I just tell him "that's my business", that will sound harsh to him, because usually we talk freely about our lives.
I just quit my job because they don’t wanna give me the hours I deserve. I just told my hiring manager that I deserve better and I appreciate her time.
What an amazing words that I'm afraid off. They'd pay me well with good facilities that anyother of my friends was jealous. But I'm gonna quit my job. I have to planning my next chapter of life.
Pretty good advice. Sounds like you worked for a smaller company. I would definitely agree with being discreet. It’s not anyone’s business what you intend to do. For me the most impactful thing was your story about getting to a salary that was about 1.5x what you were making and have the confidence in your ability to keep it going. I am currently at a job that I have only been at for 5 months but absolutely hate because it is soooo boring. My goal is to accumulate a years worth of salary (including benefits)within the next 3 months in order to quit in June. That equates to an ambitious goal of $833/ day but I feel confident that I can do it. Thanks John for the great videos!
how could i be discreet to my boss whom which i am very close to ?already he built a family out of employees .how could i dont say my reasons when i quit?
Wow your ex boss at the ad agency 😨 thanks for sharing the story. Truly inspiring hearing how that confrontation was handled. I will remember this if I find myself in the same position in the future 🙏
Awesome video, that is really cool. What do you think set you apart from your co-workers as far as being able to bring in $100k a month for the company you worked for? What things were you better at than other people in similar positions in the company? Thanks I appreciate the video, really great content!
That is amazing given that it was several years ago...without all the funnel making and web design tools available now. Thank you, that helps me a lot.
I’m quitting today. My position will be filled in 8 minutes.
😁
🤣
😂😂😂😂
Funny and sad at the same time.
Are things going better now?
People cant give a one month notice.... Employers fire you without a one month or two week notice... You are not obligated nor can they give you a bad reference bc of it...
That may be correct but you still don't want to burn any bridges, You never know when you're going to need that boss again for a job or a reference.
If it’s in the contract you signed then yes you’re obliged to
Don’t give one months notice! Especially if you’re in a toxic environment. If the employer has been good to you, give one month. You could end up on unemployment for a month… be careful.
It's really amazing how so many people are finally realizing they want to be their own boss! myself included
How do I go about that ?
🗣YES
I ain't giving no 1 month notice I'm quitting today
Gusta Ant Today!
Thank you! Who the hell gives a one month notice
I'll give a 1 month notice thinking of doing it now on my part time
I was being hired by another company, I said I need to give my 2 weeks. They said we need u in a week, it was a "mother company" so the old job respected that....not sure that would have worked the other way around..I was like wow it's whatever.....peace old job!
True
Ive quit my job gracefully and tried to go back and was DENIED! Doesn't always work, folks. Especially if the job has cliques and people dont like you.
Totally true. No matter how loyal hard wrking and good person we are. It didn’t matter to them. Wrk and business is just wrk and business to them.
I tried to quit giving one and a half months before on notice but my boss started to treat me way worse and really bad that it became really unbearable and i had to quit two weeks after i gave my first notice.
ddont do that next time. just give two weeks. so they can only torture u for 2 weeks xD
Being positive is the most impactful and most powerful thing one can do, especially if they're working in a toxic environment.
The one dislike is from his ex-boss
1 month notice? No.
One month’s notice? You have to be kidding. Even two weeks is too much. It’s an antiquated concept that needs to be done away with.
It’s a courtesy that employees aren’t awarded when the tables are turned.

Im quitting mcdonalds...it ain't that serious

Not telling my boss anything about my plan when I hand him that letter tomorrow is going to be the hardest part for me. Very helpful video though!
How'd it go ?

Give us an update!
What did you do? You can't stay in an unhappy job to try to make others happy. Don't let yourself be intimidated; this is a sign that you need to get out.
Are you still working there??
I don't want to keep my options open at any of my last J.O.B.s I want a new start on life!
Now you're talking. Everyone says "don't burn bridges!". I say burn bridges that lead to nowhere.
For me, the most impactful reminder you gave was to be discreet, so they're burning to know, but can't. Love your story time videos.
Discretion is key! Never tell your employer that you’ve found a new job somewhere else.
Screw gracefully. Immediate resignation lol
Niffell Bique of course man. They don’t care about you.
Amen.
I have to. My boss is both emotionally and sometimes even physically abusive. I'll just have to quit on the spot and leave.
Niffell Bique Now
Niffell Bique I agree once a job disrespects me I’m out
Handing in my first resignation today. So nervous. I hope it ends gracefully.
Shivangi Singh and? how did it go?
No disrespect bro, but you literally was rich, you wasnt living check to check, you could of been stopped working
There is no one size fits all anything bro. 6k a month is damn good but that doesnt make you rich
@@devonscope6222 also California is expensive
1 month? uhh noooo they would hand me a box on a friday afternoon and tell me to leave
Just give the notice period stated in your contract. Mine states 28 days notice.
I have no plan, but the job sucks so much that I dont give a f*ck
Quitting my job in about 20 minutes. Wish me luck...

Being discreet in ALL places expressly w/ the 'plan' - standing firm is a close 2nd...!
How do you keep from being derailed when the boss starts asking questions or being rude/passive aggressive?
Practice with a friend
Having a plan and being respectful probably the best ones
Quitting my job in two days. I hope it will go gracefully. Wish me luck!
Change the title "how to gracefully quit your tech or office job." Most of this is irrelevant to most service industry or hospitality jobs.

I gave one month's notice and it was a disaster. It ended up with me walking out after 3 weeks. It would've been better for me to give two weeks.
What happened? Did they start mistreating you?
As a social worker hearing this amount per month at a job is mind blowing. 6k/month😳 a social worker job monthly less than 3k🤦🏽♀️.
Another great video John. I really liked how you said to be discrete. Really never thought of quitting in that style.
