I know there were a million idols up there on that stage, but it did my heart especially good to see Little Richard up there smiling and enjoying himself.
Can you imagine being there live with all those Fabulous musicians and singers? I watched it on television and thank you so much for putting it on You Tube. 5*****
Since we can barely hear Booker T. Jones's lead keyboards, that might explain why. A lot of guitar star-power on that stage incl. original Booker T & the MGs guitarist Steve Cropper who gets his solo due that night. But honestly, the number of folks, albeit superstars, up on that stage looked like the line to a men's bathroom between acts at a mid-1970s arena rock concert.
Little Richard,Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Keith Richards, etc. this has got to be the closest of heaven on earth by talented musicians! Or as I tell everyone hey baby it don’t get no better
Lewie Steinberg, co-writer of "Green Onions" , original bassist for Booker T. and the MGs, and recorded on this instrumental in 1962 has no mention in this caption as part of the band. He is present on stage along with Duck playing bass but gets no mention. Steinberg is on the far left near Booker T. who's on organ.
That's why I love these things. There really is nothing as great as seeing them all playing together. lol, ok, that sounds funny, I know. But you know what I mean.
Good point, and true. I enjoyed it, but it's one of those things that's more fun for the participants than the fans. Fun for sure, though. The song is too damn good to mess up but so bad.
After watching this mess I decided to go listen to the original recording so I would remember what it really sounded like. I was right. Nothing like this.
I just saw this video for the first time and thought who the hell was Paul Shaffer to lead that classic jam with one of the composers, Booker T, right there on keyoboards? Shaffer should never have been on stage.
Wtf Why didn't he call out don the duck I mean it was his song wow Huh. I met the duck at the hard rock hotel IN 95-96 where I was working. He had stopped using the pipe cause he got throat cancer. We developed a friendship and used to go out to sand dollar blues lounge here in Las Vegas . What a great guy never let the fame get to him Just a good ole boy to the end . Surely missed. We talked about Delaney Bramlett whose daughter Bekka and susan I went to high school with in an LA suburb. And how Delaney should Be INDUCTED to hall of fame also. If I hadn't been soo young and known soo little of his music Id a asked him about touring with SAm and Dave, but maybe he liked me cause like ronnie van zant wrote. Don't ask me no questions and I wont tell U NO lies. The duck was definitely one of the greatest bass players ever . Told me hed never play anything but a FENDER not even ricky.

@@unclenedsfishfactory6461 I've been in, and have seen, many "bar band" jams. Most, if not all, sounded terrible no matter how good the players were. (Imagine all the players in this video and add lots of alcohol!).
I'm glad to see someone say this for once. I think this is the jam where Keith and Johnny Cash agreed they couldn't even figure out a key to play in. Don't see Springsteen there, he usually seems to get in on all these things.
who was being inducted? I hope it was booker t and the mg's. Superior to the rest of the all-stars in this jam. This song is great enough that it was able to stand up to the large perfoming group!

seriously?...rock and roll hall of fame produced this? these guys are all deserving of much more respect than is shown in the productions of this video. if this is the best they could do, they shouldn't have done it at all. really.
Aaron Neville looks out of place with the cowbell and just wants the song to end 1:52 . Other people given percussion instruments to have something to do like it's some kind of 2nd grade music class.
Looked like Neil wanted to play, but either the amp was off,? Wasn’t plugged in? Soundman never turned him up? He looked disgusted, and had enough! The guy on the white strat, should have left a half second, for someone else to play? Like maybe the guy on the recording? What a egotistical hog!
@@joemasse4568 totally agree - Neil Young said F**k this, move over he's Keith Richards-Johnny Cash how did i get involved with this- what a total mess, David Letterman's Paul Shaffer ( a great musician)- but a total MESS

I much agree. He was there at the beginning. So many musicians owe so much to him.
Nobody owes little Richard shit! He was and still is a punk

Good tune, time is tight and my favorite soul limbo.
Everybody in that room knows that song and they are all ready to jam to it. :)
Keith is still alive in 2022. 30 years later. Unreal.
The original was one of the best of its time!!
Johnny Cash, Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn, Little Richard, Keith Richards, Neil Young, John Fogerty,...........
Since I play bass my hero Duck Dunn. Man what a jam and cast
The soundman's resumé has no mention of this gig.
