- On October 18th, 2017, after a busy day of promotional interviews in New York City, Billie Eilish met with Vanity Fair to discuss the 15-year-old’s breakthrough success. On October 18th, 2018, after a long day of pre-tour rehearsals, Billie spoke with VF again to answer the exact same questions and look back at a time capsule of her answers from last year. Her Instagram follower count grew from 257K to 6.3 million. She went from playing crowds of 500 fans to playing arenas for more than 40,000. See how Billie’s life changed over the last year.

I'm 16, same age as her here, and honestly I really appreciate everything she's talked about mental illness. like teenage mental illness is a big issue and I feel like nobody talks about it.
eh ull get thru it xD, hopefully. if not, go get help, but dont be influenced by what a stranger say, even if they're a celeb, becuz they're strangers.. i say.. it's a moment when ur brain reaches a certain stage and u see the world with different eyes now. it's a time that we cant no longer act childishly and has to force ourselves up. i see that people go through major changes in that stage too.

I think too many Americans want to stay in denial about the music industry. It should be obvious by now how poisonous it is and this vid is just another eye opener. we can see with our very eyes how much being in the industry has changed her. thebestvids depression is a hard thing and it cant always be a way out of it. Therapy doesnt always help and it can be a thing through the rest of your life. Just saying this because people can think so lightly of depression when its a serious thing and it shouldnt be thought of as something light and easy to get rid of.

Im so proud she's now finally happy with herself
She's 16, that's one of the most difficult stages of puberty and growing up, and on top of all that she's famous. People are constantly either worshiping her or saying vile, repulsive things about her. I couldn't imagine how much that fucks with someone's emotions before they're even emotionally mature enough to know how to handle it. When I first watched this I got that edgy "im 16 and my life is the hardest" vibe, but if I was in her position at that age I wouldn't be in a very good state of mind either. Hopefully the manipulative, greedy hollywood influences in her life don't absolutely suck the life out of her by the time she's 18.

drawingangel2 No, nobody died. the artists aren’t really free to be artists... they don’t get to just put out the music they make- they’re under contracts, and whatever they make gets passed through multiple people... and everything is controlled. the artist barely has a say.
