The land u born in believes in no barriers in natures creation. There is nothing to seek outside you as you are complete as you are just the way God planned to be. All roads lead to one and no matter what anyone believes deep within its just beliefs and reality is very different and difficult to grasp. You left behind the wisdom of a culture which is over 10000 years or more. Knowledge passed on to you by your forefathers and mankind.
When I was living in the US I used to DJ at clubs, private events etc. I had the opportunity to watch ustad Zakir's performance when growing up as a kid in India. That one performance inspired me to learn tabla at a young age. I gained an understanding of tempo, beats, rhythm etc which is very critical to DJ'ing. So in a way this little DJ stint I had is 100% credited to ustad zakir. The person you have interviewed in extremely revered in India. I hope you both realize what an opportunity you have had.
This made me happy. And I'm in love with how well this interview went. He is a result of a lifetime of practice and respect with HIS tabla. And you guys are just starting out to discover more. I see Rick's and Korbins' expressions and reactions and you guys are right on
One of the coolest thing about the Ustad and his father is that they changed tabla completely in their lifetimes. Before them, Tabla was all about daayan or tabla (the smaller piece). All the nuance was focussed in variations of daayan. Ustad Allahrakha was the first to make baayan (or the bigger piece of the pair) equally important with huge emphasis on making optimal use of the echoes in vibrations of digga or baayan. They are not only masters of tabla but are also the founders of new age tabla! Hats off!
I was smiling throughout the interview wishing it be longer like an hour or more. I was so immersed in it that didn't realise the time. I could hear this "Zakir Hussain" sir talk for hours and hours and not get bored for a minute, he know so much and there's so much to learn from this master man. It was such a wonderful experience, thank you Rick and Korbin for this interview.
so glad you did this video because my father is also a tabla player, he runs his own music academy and his teacher's teacher is ustaad Allah rakha ji , who is Ustad Zakir Hussein's father and teacher so we follow that music legacy in our household as i also learn music from my parents. my father has also met Ustad Zakie Hussein a couple of times and his brother taufiq quereshi ji came to our house, blessed and taught me a little.

I always advocate that everyone should try and learn to play atleast one musical instrument in your life. You don't necessarily need to be a master at it, just play to the best of your ability. It just makes you a better person overall

I like jaby because he always has subtitles when I need them. He's so quick with new things and those trailers rarely have them right away.
