    Put suction cup on that piston and see if you can rock it? Or pull the oil pan and see if it moves. I know you would hear it but I've seen engines running good with broken ring lands and cracked cylinders.

      I stripped it down and pretty much all the rods are bent. Pistons look good and bearings are decent.

    1jz oem. Wow.
    What timing where u running above 15psi boost?

    • @fox-body
      @fox-body  2 роки тому

      I was running 18-19 degrees of timing when I hit 40 psi. That bent all the rods. 🤣

      @@fox-body i just rebuilt a motor, which also bent rods going over 35psi. I think its happy at just under the 30 mark. With mine i pick up knock at around 17deg & its happy at 14. These engins are just amazing.!

  • @jonathanramoslexusmaster298

    I had the same crap happen to one of mine. My guess I pushed water and bent the tod

    What power was it making at 40psi? And with what fuel? Wondering how much the stock ports can flow on the 1jz vvti as I'm getting close to dyno time with my build

      I’m not sure. Probably 700 or so.

    Hello i have a problem with my 1jz gte vvti it only revs to 5000rpm for some reason i can't understand why my tuner sent me a stock 1jz map he had ons his 1jz gte vvti but it's the same so i noticed it has like combustion carbon blackish stuff in the throttle body and it's not from the turbo as my valve covers vent to atmosphere timing is spot on so i assume it's the vvt gear making trouble even as it is deactivated

    • @fox-body
      @fox-body  2 роки тому +1

      I doubt it’s the vvti. What ecu?

    • @hiltonwaalstra.63
      @hiltonwaalstra.63 2 роки тому

      @@fox-body I've found the problem it was the vvt gear that had a problem see it gets constant oil pressure to keep it at zero when the solenoid isn't activated mine bypassed oil due to the o ring inside on that piston if we can call it that that's worn down and i don't know if you know but the vvti is actually a internal EGR SYSTEM I'm using a local ecu called CORE EFI based of the MEGASQUIRT also uses tuner studio to tune

    Did you ever rebuild that head? Or is this a JDM that has never been opened?

      @@fox-body the JDM engines are tested and rejected then shipped to us. Sometimes it's small things and sometimes it's like your situation. I once got a JDM that the oil turned into some kind of hard plastic. I did a rebuild and cleaned it up, but after that I started looking closer.
