Great fake-out by Brett at 6:21! She had me and Gene convinced she was going to say B***h (female dog), but then whips out "Bone" to match the contestant. Gene jokes about Brett giving him a heart attack! These are the kinds of moments that kept people hooked on watching Match Game every day -- the show's appeal wasn't really the game itself (game shows were a dime a dozen back then, and some games were more exciting and more gamelike). The big draw was simply "hanging out" with the panelists and Gene who began to feel like part of your family as the weeks, months, and years passed. The game was merely an excuse for them to be there and the questions just gave them something to talk about and riff on.
Betty score her 14th H/H match! ...and breaks the tie with Fannie. (Seeing how hard it can be to match in the head-to-head round, those scores of 50% or better seem truly amazing!) Here's the updated leader board showing the 10 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: TIE: Orson Bean - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 100% (3 wins in 3 attempts). Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Betty - 51.9% (14 wins in 27 attempts). Fannie - 50% (7 wins in 14 attempts). Charles - 45.7% (16 wins in 35 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 35.4% (70 wins in 198 attempts). Bert - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). Brett - 32.1% (9 wins in 28 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 402, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
I agree. A case of any disease I think was the definitive answer, but most of the celebs didn't really think of it. A case of nails? A case of coffins? A case of murder? A case of Drano? Hmmm. Ironically, other than Betty, the only celeb who figured it out was Elaine! (No disrespect intended to Elaine -- she just has a reputation for silly answers.)
@@kristabrewer6736Gary was good on MASH. That was a scripted show. He's out of his league on an unscripted show and is a poor substitute for Charles. I'll be glad when he's gone.
At the 15:43 point, this is the third game in a row where after the first round, there has been not a single match made, neither in heaven, on earth nor under the earth.
ROFL! Another fine episode! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Betty! ;0) Love the entrances, silliness, voices, acting and the fun Gene! ;0) toe.. Gene, at 2:30 Fondling Betty's shoulder and trying to play-it-off is as-then-as-is-now; Pathetic sexual Harassment....NOT EXCUSE-that 'it was a different time'. Gene's constant display of lechery by an Older Male is by now, via 'the kiss and tell' Network of Muck-raking...makes these show enjoyable to watch when in hindsight he---Gene, and Brett get TRASHED, a la Expose' LoL
Betty White doing what Dickie Dawson can't and that's actually match Head-to-Head's. Before this he was picked many times in a row but sucked and choked. Whoever picks Dickie Dawson deserves to lose.
Richard Dawson gave away far more money than any other celebrity. The way it works is the celebrity writes their answer and the contestants must match them.

that was pretty sneaky of Betty trying to change her answer from tongue to to(e) lol
Cute.

Yay for Betty! 🎉💕
Thank you RainMan.
Loved the way Pat decked out her shirt dress ! Looked very nice. Thanks so much for these uploads.
Elaine looked stunning in this episode!
Then you should watch last epi
Love that blouse Betty is wearing. So pretty.
they must have tied gary to his chair, he didn't go chasing after Gene or throw garbage at him this time
....Or perhaps they sweetened his contract.
Amazing how well you can tie down a loose cannon with money.
@@marvinmeeker5765 he got the letter from Ira like Gene promised Gary last day
It also might be Shecky he was very popular then and it doesn't look he was putting up with Gary's humor.
@@mehboobkm2018Maybe although Ira doesn't seem like the enforcer type to me.
Just stubborn
Fred Sheldon Greenfield aka Shecky Greene is still going at 96!
I get the feeling that Betty White is most comfortable in the 70s, radiant inside and outside.
I've seen shows that have followed her career, and she seems most comfortable in every decade, comfortable in her own skin.
She’s one beautiful soul. Secure & comfortable in her own skin, making even more beautiful
And SO funny!
I’m sure Gary got wrote up. And I’m glad he did! You never ever upstage other celebrities or the MC!
I like how Gene says, "We're a very erudite bunch here," and then Betty proves it by quoting Kipling.
Gene was well read and sharp !
Betty is smart
Betty White is great ! Love her blouse !
A Case of Measles is the best answer

Elaine is one of my favs
Shecky should have replaced GARY. He was pretty funny not obnoxious and gave decent answers
I MUSTACHE Shecky a question, but I'll SHAVE it for later... *RIMSHOT*
Nice
@@mary-annemueller9885 I wonder if they tried cold cream, it works really well.
When Gene and Helen were on Tattletales she made the comment that Gene loved the women.
Contestant Pat looks a lot like Brett.😊
Anyone know how they got the mustache off Shecky?
Lemon?
Gary's on his meds again.
Or they all gang up on him and had talking to him about it.
Betty White was very fashionable. Today she's wearing Pucci, yesterday looked like a DVF wrap dress.
It’s not so pukey
Gary annoys me the most when he puts up an answer for a laugh and not trying to match a contestant
He should try to match because he's certainly not funny.
Yes.
He matched most of the time if not ALL the time on this episode, THANK YOU!!! LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!!!!

Elaine is dressed like a waitress lol
Methinks Gene goofed up on the dog question, hope they have Stormy back
Maybe but she went bone and he said can so I not sure or not. The last time lady used his answer to win the game but this time she didn't.
Allen Ludun is as funny as a case of Gary.

Finally the contestant grabbed a brain and picked someone besides Richard
