  • A visual guide to replacing the constant pressure valve / engine euro valve on a BMW E46 M3.
    Apologies for the video being rough, bit of last minute thing. Hope this helps! Fairly straight forward DIY task - lack of space is the biggest issue.

    Awesome video, just been fixing mine using this! It's a tight fit, and crap if you haven't got slender hands. Getting it out was ok, but the amount of swearing trying to get the new one in, now that was spectalular... I'd advise anyone to hold it with pliers in position, then screw in with your other hand, then quickly use the tool by hand to screw it in enough to have to start using the ratchet.
    Glad I've done it though, and this video gave me the confidence to, so cheers! Awesome work!

    Thanks for posting mate. The BMW dealer here in san diego also referred to this as the "engine euro valve".

      @@Haider_Malik Thanks for that, now I know what the BMW dealer is calling a "Euro-Valve".
      Sterling BMW in Newport Beach, CA wants $1000 to replace that valve. I'm truly offended.

    What are the symptoms that would indicate it needs replacement?

    Heheh, It was my first fix to do on my M3 :) i did it the same way like you did, but later i helped to other friends with this and it´s much more easy to access with these short kind screwdrivers with the same kind of tip at the end (i´m sure you know what i´m talking about)
    This way you can access on the same spot with your hand, don´t have to have a hard time trying to place the ratchet ;)

    Do you know if 2005 X5 3.0 M54 engine is also equipped with this CPV? My X5 also has leak symptoms in the same area.

      Robert Abalos Hi, unfortunately I’m not familiar with the M54. Find the parts diagram on realoem and check if it does have a cpv. I hope you find the cause of your leak 👍🏽

    How much did you tighten ? Approximately ... qualitatively ...

    • @Haider_Malik
      @Haider_Malik  6 років тому +1

      Emile Papillon Torque to 58Nm or 43ft-lb then turn a further 90 degrees. It’s difficult getting a torque wrench up there so I just did it free hand based on feel. Still holding up fine over a year later.

    Hello this can cause burning oil smell ? Thanks a lot

    • @Haider_Malik
      @Haider_Malik  2 роки тому +1

      Yes in some cases if the leak is really bad it can drip onto the hot exhaust manifold and burn off

      @@fearthereaper5663 It could also be a leaking rocker cover gasket at the back or side of the block. This oil could definitely make contact with the exhaust manifold. Do you have oil marks on the floor where the car has been parked?

      Johnny No need to drain the oil. As long as the engine is cold very little oil, if any, will come out.
