  • Hello. In today's video, I am taking this beautiful sky blue #fabric and making 2 #corsets and 2 #skirts . I'll be making 2 #outfits in the #vintage and #19thcentury styles.
    .
I'm not going for historical accuracy. I'm making these things because I just love the styles.

Hi I have just found your video and really enjoyed watching. You are very talented and I so much enjoyed watching you create such a beautiful skirt and corset. The end result is amazing and you look very beautiful in it. Would you agree that it could also be worn by men? I am male and have recently started to wear womens clothes. I don't have many clothes yet and I am still learning about different clothes and styles. I have never worn anything like your outfit but would love to! Do you mind me saying that?

Thank you so much. I am very much a novice at sewing. I started sewing my wardrobe about 8 months ago because I dislike "modern clothing" so very much.
Heck yes! Wear whatever tickles your fancy! Did you know that in the 1200s-1400s men's fashion consisted of corsets, dresses, skirts, makeup, big hair and beautiful shoes? Fun history fact.
My advice to you is to do your historical research on fashion and trends. You'll find an era or time frame of clothing to reference from. screenshot photos, or create a Pinterest board of clothing that you like.
I personally favor the eras of Midevil (1400's-1500's) and Victorian (1800's). I love Cottagecore, Piratecore, Academia, Vikingcore, and I'm sure there's more. There are some things I like from 1950's, and 1970's. The more research I do, the more I find what I like. You'll find that to be the case for you as well.
You can look at the look books at the Met Gala online as well as the Smithsonian Museum fashion database. If you want to make and sew your own clothes, Simplicity.com has oodles of patterns that are immensely helpful in creating the look you're going for. They have sales on their patterns every few months. I wait to buy patterns when they're $3-$5. Also etsy has printable patterns for sale.
