    What a beauty. You definitely don't see too many of these 2 door LeBaron coupes in this generation anymore. They're rare as hell. I think I've only seen one of these LeBaron coupes in person.

    These coupes are RARE. Still a beautiful car. I owned both an '89 coupe and convertible at different points in the early '00s. Both were the base "Highline" trim. The convertible was dark blue metallic with a blue vinyl interior and soft top. The coupe was gray with a gray cloth interior. I loved them both but preferred the coupe. The disadvantages that came along with owning a convertible didn't outweigh the occasional top-down enjoyment for me. Both had the non-turbo 2.5L 100hp with 3-speed automatic. Very anemic for these cars, but very dependable and cheap to keep running. The convertible had 55k miles when I bought it. The coupe's odometer was stuck at 177k miles when I bought it. I miss these cars so much. I hope you enjoy yours for many years! Drive it gingerly and treat it like it's something special because it is at this point.

    Nice time capsule! I remember wanting this car back in 1987 when i was in the 8th grade. My friend's father had a 1984 Daytona turbo z which got me liking Chryslers. The LeBaron was just a little classier. Ah to be 13 again. Hope you keep it forever!

      When i was a kid, my neighbor had a gold sebring coupe that i thought was the coolest looking car on the block. Found out later it was the successor of the Labaron with a longer body called J style. The first Gen Chrysler 200 was a Sebring refit
      ebadge and still kinda looked like a Labaron with modern headlights.

    My first car was a 1988. It was the LeBaron 2.2 turbo, three speed auto. Loaded. Hard top. Same exact car. Digital dash. We painted it chili pepper red. It was a beautiful car. Thank you for posting, brought back such fond of memories. And yeah, if you ever are looking to sell. Hit me up

    My parents bought this car in 1987, same color and all, minus the leather seats. My sister and I were four and five years old. I'm pretty sure we irrecoverably gummed up the 'System Check' button within a few months, but those reading lights in the back saw use on every trip the car took and probably resulted in our life-long love of reading.
    I really like the digital dash, its full of features that were way ahead of their time. We're only starting to see its complete return these days. Even my mostly digital 2018 Nissan still retains a mechanical speedometer.
    Thanks for showing us your car, I'm quite jealous!

    I had one, my entry to Chrysler products, silver/grey clear coat. Followed by a '98 Sebring, black, and a black 2010 Dodge Challenger.which I still have with 82,000+ miles, mostly maintenance. I put about $1,600 into repairs a year ago. New starter was one item. I ask for MOPAR replacement parts including breaks.

    My sister has the same exact car, but it's a midnight blue color. It was such a comfortable car, and it never had any major issues. She still has it, but it sits in her yard with over 280,000 miles. It just needs a lot of age related work done to it, like gaskets and stuff. Still runs and drives, but not really road worthy. Parts are hard to come by nowadays for these cars.

    I bought a 92 Lebaron Convertible Special Edition with 51000 miles in excellent condition for 500 dollars not running and a Chrysler mechanic looked at it before I bought it and couldn't figure it out and I tracked it down to 2 bad relays one for fuel pump and the other relay for ignition and I replaced them and problem solved, it has the 3.0 mitsubishi engine and automatic transmission!!!!

    '87 was the last year for the "draw through" Turbo 1 engine. '88 was still called the Turbo 1, but it featured a "blow through" style intake with a new, one-piece cast intake by Chrysler. Lebaron's never got the Turbo 2 Intercooled engine. That was a Shelby-only engine with intercooler and two-piece, Shelby intake. Though, it is very easy to take an '88 or '89 style Turbo 1 and convert to Turbo 2. You just have to find all the necessary pieces and add two wires.
    Also, that head unit (stereo) is from a much later "Cloud" Car. (Cirrus/Stratus/Breeze). 1987 would have had a cassette only head unit with a divorced CD-player where the cup holder is.
    Very nice car. I miss mine tremendously. I had an '87 that I converted to Turbo II. It was a very quick car for it's time and often surprised many people as to how quick it could be. Though I suppose nowadays, with everything having 90000 horsepower, it's sort of a non-issue today.

    Had an 87 premium 5 speed new. The 2.2 dropped off at about 107. Put a bigger turbo in it and changed the gearing and was able to get it below 6 seconds 0-60 and above 140 top speed. Sadly traded it in for a Jeep GC.

    • @mraiwa1000
      @mraiwa1000  2 роки тому

      Hi there, mine has real leather but other models depend on the trim level. For example, the base models had vinyl. Mid level models had cloth, and high end models had real leather.
      You can decipher the leather from vinyl because the vinyl seats are perforated. Hope this helps!

    A 1987 Chrysler with an OEM CD player?

    • @mraiwa1000
      @mraiwa1000  2 місяці тому

      No this is from a late 90s Chrysler model. Although I did have the factory OEM 1987 CD/tape radio for this car. It consisted of a main tape deck with larger EQ, and a slave CD unit under the main radio. The slave CD player is ultra rare, and they usually don't work. I liked the reliability and features of the newer Chrysler radios so I put one of those in there instead.

    Looking at it from the modern day, I think it’s a pretty cool car. If I found one for cheap I’d buy one. However it exemplifies the problem with American car design. When you ask an American to design you a higher-performance Grand Touring Cabriolet, you end up with something like these things; a front-wheel-drive, automatic transmission and the malaise-era facade of luxury. Ask them for a roadster, and you get a Plymouth prowler.

    Maybe, no! certainly the most prettiest USproduction car ever. The cutest is the Vector W2...
    We in Germany loved the Le Baron and it was sold as hell, though our prejudices (quality/rust/reliabilty/fuel consumption etc.) about US cars @these years. Now, we produce the unreliablest, uglyiest things since 1998 on this planet at a high price, I think.1988-1991 Chrysler Lee Iacocca cars were top.
    From 1887(yes, we are the inventor of the Motorcar!)-1989, especially 1989-1995 German cars were 1a plus in quality (but only Audi, BMW and Benz, they had a qualitity rival, now everthing in " my country" is garbage... ) and by the way, me , my family, my friends had lots of 1988-1991 plus 2008 (300M) Chrysler because of satisfaction - and GERMANs allways complain about little shit... the Lebaron 2.2 Turbo one, that was tested at the german car magazin "Auto, Motor & Sport", Title was " HUT AB, HERR BARON", means respect Mr. Baron ( we did not expect a car made in US on our tech& qualitity&performance level, much more pretty than "we" ever build in series @20% less of the price.....GM or Ford garbage had no chance here at those days except the Corvette and the sluddy-crafted , but cool-designed Pontiac Transport..) is still loved here and the Shelby engined Getrag trans A555 high performance GTC Turbo2 are kept by their owners . By the way I have a 1989 Dodge Daytona Shelby with less than 3kMiles!!!!!!!!, and 6 TC Maserati, 2 with the DOHC Cosworth engine and the German Getrag Trans 284, one with less than 7k mls...top cars in reliability

      Yeah, i don't get it. I just got a 2012 Chrysler 200 with the 3.6 v6 pentastar that came in the base charger loaded into a "J" style Sebring body. Best hp in it's class but least popular of it's class. I think it's the coolest. In 2015 they switched bodies with the Dodge Dart to look more like the foreign imports but i think that made it lose it's character and it didn't work. It was a rebranded Dodge Dart with an option for the v6 that the real Dart never had. I think, they had this Idea that everybody in America wants a muscle car and I remember the Dart commercials were aimed directly at young fathers and middle aged suburban men. It was the "macho" economy car that could beat up your neighbor's Hyundai in a fist flight. "Don't touch my my Dart!" Was the slogan. Most People actually wanted friendly Toyotas. Also If they were going to keep putting huge engines in a bunch of different cars,(the 200, the 300, the avenger, chargers, challengers) it defuses the market. So if you want a Chrysler muscle car, it's chargers and challengers only now. Family car is the mini van or a Jeep. No more budget, luxury, smokeshows like the Labaron family.
