While the passengers on the airplane were sleeping, he was shopping. But his target was cash from cabin bags. See how the officers from the Airport Police Division cracked the syndicate responsible for the thefts from overhead compartments in airplanes.
Crimewatch also share tips on how you can avoid becoming the next theft victim.

These investigators are amazing! I think that more passengers should be aware of everything that is going on around them and speak up when they see anything suspicious. I remember traveling from Denver to Brussels and I had about 13,000 cash in the overhead compartment however I was traveling in the executive business class where your chair turns into a bed. I only had one gentleman next to me who was a world famous German golfer. I remember on a regular flight I had 12000 cash and I did check it a few times. Normally I wouldn't have that much cash but my dad told me that I needed to open a bank account there and the debit card transfer would take too long. I'm also a very large German Siberian weighing 160+ pounds which makes most people afraid to mess with me. My dad was six foot five, 255 lb (36" shoulder width) and he would apprehend thieves in action on the Metro on a weekly basis. No one would ever believe he was 85 years Young because he was so fast and had less than 20% body fat. I'm watching this while soaking in Epsom salts after doing a 12 mile NIGHTLY walk. People please stay vigilant to stop these thieves.

At least the criminals are loyal towards each other by not exposing their partner to the police while being caught by the police. Normals thieves tend to betray each other
The first guy had a strong incentive for the second not go get caught, because the first guy didn't have the currencies that the victim told them about. If they never caught the second guy, they'd have a hard time making a case against the first guy.

Obviously crime shows only showed what they did in just a short amount of time but in real life, it takes a lot of time to find new clues/leads to find the suspect and sometimes it could be dangerous too.

By most conventions, it all depends on either the destination of the flight or wherever the flight was diverted to. In this instance, since Singapore was the destination of the flight when the crime took place, the suspects can be charged under the penal system in Singapore. If for some reason, the flight was diverted to KL to drop off the criminals, then they will be charged under the Malaysian law instead. The nationality of the air carrier is not relevant here.

Mathadi Kassim if let say you steal money from USA and went to Singapore. Someone report it to the police in US. They can still contact the singapore police and they can still catch you in the local country. So moral of the story. Just don't commit crime anywhere not only singapore.

Hi nice footage but I feel the suspects are local Singaporean because the pronunciation " geylang" are these people allowed to visit Singapore after the jail and do you know how many times these guys been travelling with the same modus operadi , I believe there are more to this including a female, in my opinion the investigation process Is not throughly enough. The funniest thing a passenger can shift seat as he likes and no one observed nor questioned him. So what more could have been happening you can charge him in many accounts falsefying on the money declaration coming in to singapore ,false information about not revealing they are friends denied, 18 months is too linient on this case no value added
