For what I utilize the system for, I am happy with my purchase. I keep the Genesis Mini 2 at my parents house along with the first Genesis Mini, the Nes classic, and the Snes Classic. It is an easy and convenient way for my son to play games there when we visit. Also, myself, my brother and anyone else there. Between the 4 minis, it is roughly around 150 games which is a nice diverse list. Also, I sometimes pick one up when we go on a vacation for the Hotel or camping if there is a rainy day.
@@GregsGameRoom He has his favorties for sure. He LOVES Bananza Bros. He will play that one so long. The rest he flips between. I think dad rubbed off on him with the collection and retro games a bit.
I have mini 1, I bought mini 2 and I can't be happier. To play thousands of ROMS I can use my Wii. I LOVE this devices to play to the games that SEGA offers. If you have 1000000 games, you play to no one. But it's very interesting to check the list, to discover hidden jewels, to finish the ones included....
Lightning Force, Heckfire, and Truxton make it worth the cash the rest are not bad either. I have a Turbo Grafx MINI which is cool but it doesnt work half the time makes me want a Genesis one
Not to mention Alien Soldier one of the most sought after Mega Drive games. I have a knock-off cartridge of it also Panorama Cotton the Genesis 2 looks better than the first 1
I don’t blame you for getting this mini. Greg’s Game Room has the space, so fill it with more games. I played Night Trap back in the day at a friend’s house. I had no idea what I was doing and didn’t save any of the women. Happy New Year!
Lmao we both ordered the console for the same reason😂😂😂I figured that if I didn’t order it now it would become extremely hard to find and expensive in the next few years so I just bit the bullet.
Great Video! You touched on why I didn't opt to get the 2. It does look cool and was smaller than I thought. The opening of it was a delight to see a big fat piece of Chocolate on the chip of the PCB. 😉
My closet needed it I got it on launch day from Amazon and it’s been sitting in there ever sense unopened 🤦♂️ I still haven’t gotten around to playing every going on the original mini 😅 We need Saturn & Dreamcast Next 🔜 🏆
Nope. Not unless you want shelf candy. The emulation and tiny choice of games on these combined with the ridiculous price makes these a insult to anyone that ever played any real Sega hardware.
I say this as a SEGA fanboy at heart, but I passed on the Mini2, and I'm not feeling any regret. For the sake of completion, I just couldn't justify the purchase when we already have devices like the MiSTer, RaspberryPi and the MEDPro which can already outperform the Mini2 by leaps & bounds. I thought about it heavily too, but sadly, it just wasn't calling to me with the lackluster lineup of content that I can already play elsewhere. On a side note, glad to see you back after the long hiatus! 👍
Play elsewhere? Where exactly can you play the Mark V conversions of Space Harrier and Space Harrier II? Where did you download the ROM for the Fantasy Zone port they have on the Mini 2?

Hey, if your kid likes those games, all the better!

O man the memories of playing sonic for days on end

ITS NOT FAIR I WANT A GENESIS MINI 2 BUT IT ISN'T IN MY COUNTRY AND MY MOM DOESNT WANT TO ORDER OUTSIDE MY COUNTRY 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Having it to play Sega CD games is absolutely fire, also glad that you can play Final Fight CD included with it!

First! SEGA!!!!!!!!
Definitely an nyc transplant or the child of such.
5th!
You'll always be last in our books 😁
The only system with Blast Processing!

Night Trap really isn’t a good game. Just a novelty.

Awesome review Greg!

Yeah, it was kind of unnecessary for those who have hacked the original. Otherwise, it might be a good collector's item.
To be fair........I bought this in the hope that Sega would make dedicated Saturn and Dreamcast( maybe even Master System)
Maybe a Dreamcast. Doubtful they'd do Saturn or Master System.
*Puyo Puyo Sun? They goofed it's Dr Robotniks Mean Bean machine in US!*

Yeah took me about 3 weeks before I opened mine too.
Only 1 controller 😢

It’s definitely over priced. And I reasoned that it’s not going to get any better!
@@GregsGameRoom probably not.
German has different since is PAL EU
Is the 6 button controller that comes with mini 2 better than the retro bit 6 button controller from 3 years ago ?
*it's the same company so same dude!*
I can literally play all these same games on my modded Playstation mini, along with every other retro system games.
