I work as a truck driver for a metal company that supplies metal siding for RV manufacturers in the northwest. I've been doing this for six years. When I started in 2018 we had three drivers including myself, and we were sending at least six full loads per week to Keystone, Jayco, Outdoors, and Northwood to name a few. We were busy! As of now I'm the only driver left and I'm only delivering a little bit here and there. Not even enough to stay busy all week. I'm concerned about my job, and I really like this job. I'll be surprised if we're still in business for another year. The RV manufacturers only work 4 days a week at best and they shut down periodically for a week or two. Lots of people being laid off. I would definitely say that the RV business is in the toilet right now. Come November we'll know whether it's going to crash completely or if it will thrive again. Everyone with half a brain is hanging onto what little money they have right now, including me. I hate to see everyone struggling like this, but I'm hopeful that things will get better. We'll know in a couple months.
When the RVs cost as much as a house and interest rates are ridiculous, then yeah….they’re in trouble since nobody can afford them….plus using them is really expensive in fuel and RV spot costs per night are ridiculous as well
Doug I think you are a good guy. We tried to buy a couple of Tiffins Phaeton’s from you. Everytime we called you had already sold them. We finally bought a tiffin allegro bus 2018 from Lazydays. We hired certified RV inspector to check it out. Lazy day wasn’t to happy to allow us to do that. But we said no inspection no deal. It had a few problems and they did fix them. But we drove it right to Redbay to get the engine and aqua hot, slides, roof other maintenance done. We did that service because there was no records from previous owner. We put about 4k miles on it since March when we purchased it. And we been living in while our house was for sale in Delaware. We decided that we will have it serviced every year in Redbay in the future. We now live in Florida. We have been watching your channel for a long time and I believe Andrew Steel did your videos back in the day.

The wholesale market is worse than what you are reporting. Dealers are calling other dealers to dump new inventory. Most aren’t taking new inventory right now.
Great video Doug. I appreciate you sharing this information. I would like to see you go over the previous owners maintenance records on a future unit. Do maintenance records help or hurt your sales? For example - on a future video, do a quick run around the exterior (my wife is NOT interested in the bays - they all look the same!) - then tour the interior - then get the previous owners maintenance book and spend 5 minutes going over it…the good and the bad. Teach us how to document our maintenance for future owners. That’s my request! PS - in many of your videos - I fast-forward to the interior tour and call my wife to come and watch it with me! I tend to watch the whole show! Keep doing what you do! Also - I appreciate the videos with problem motorhomes! Many of us live in that world.

I can tell those people that Doug is the most honest, and down to earth, dealer that you will ever meet. My wife and I purchased a Tiffin Open Road AND a tow vehicle from Doug and we have enjoyed having both. When we become ready for a change in coaches, which we will, Doug will be my first call. Tony

Yeah but the horrible thing is many of those other dealers/people are feeling the sad truth ,being sold junk that's falling apart. Bad reviews are rising sharply. Poor workmanship or factory failures !? But not contacting folks back once the money is spent !

We have a 2020 Tiffin Breeze 33 BR that we love. It is a pre Thor and pre covid build. All our service is done at Red Bay, Alabama, and we have very little that needs to be tweaked here and there so far very happy. If we ever decide to move to a larger coach, we will be looking for an older Country Coach possibly someday. Right now we’re having a blast with what we have. 😁
It seems that many of the new RV's are not put together very well. They have issues that keep the owners from getting full use out of it soon after purchase.
You don’t steal anything at auction, but you do pay wholesale which is what most people not “in the business” are talking about. And you even said they are getting 50% off of book value on some of these. Most retail buyers would call that a steal.

We are only looking at older luxury DP - before the crash in 2008 - pricing market is going down and the higher priced coaches are staying on the market - we have the advantage of being cash buyers - if it takes 30 - 120 days to find the right one - so be it!

Buyers normally interested in fifth wheel and travel trailers are feeling the economic pinch now and putting off un-necessary purchases. More important to pay the mortgage and living expenses at this time. Upper end buyers not affected as much but still looking for a deal.
It's mostly travel trailers selling now and a few high-end RVs. Expensive 5th wheels and cheaper class A''s arent selling to good. Also B+ RVs arent selling.
Yes, they’re in trouble but you know what they did to themselves. They have quality issues. They have management issues and a lot of these companies are getting bought out by the same other company owns RVs.
RVs and campers are about as good an investment as a boat. They lose value quickly with every passing year. There are more campers than there are campgrounds. Being packed in like sardines with the general public is not my idea of fun. Campsites are a lot more expensive than they used to be. Hauling a camper down America’s crowded highways is a white knuckle experience,especially around big cities

The way RV’s and campers are built anymore, you better get a professional inspection done before you sign any papers. Your nightmare may begin as soon as you leave the lot.
My values are market based. But what I showed was jdpower I use jdpower as one of the many factors in determining what I am willing to buy and sell for.
After years of having travel trailers and fifth wheels, we won’t own another one. Just bad quality and distrust in the manufacturers and dealers. Many of our friends have also left rving.
Quality, QC and service for US built RV's is terrible, especially post covid. It's all cheap plastics put together by unqualified staff at minimum wage. You say you sell 'a lifestyle', IE: A lifestyle of wondering what is gonna break down next and how to fix it. A lifestyle of sitting in a shop for months on end, a lifestyle of blame games between factory and seller/shop. Regulate the RV industry like the airline industry and sue the crap out of the 'rotten apples' !

Finance rates are terrible right now. I would never finance one. I imagine at the price points you deal with most of your buyers pay cash.
Book value should match what the market will pay. I wonder how often they are updated.
