Great update! I've been holding off also for an upgrade to my 30 yr old craftsman boxes. Was going to go with the Series 2, but saw the Series 3 coming out this year. I decided to wait, and was so glad to finally see a video with the 72" gray roller cabinet I want..I think I will put a 56" top box on mine, instead of the hutch.
I really want to get one of these for my home garage. I don't work as a mechanic by trade, but I wrench a lot in my off time, and having this to organize would be amazing.
It's going to be $450 off starting next month. I'm probably going to get one.

I just bough this drawer I’m having some issues with my floor not being so level so my back tire hits the floor but the front tire flouts a bit . Are you able to Adjust the tire height ?
I think the series 3 is a great update to the series 2, not to say that the series 2 was bad but you can tell that they have taken a lot of lessons from the series 2 and incorporated parts of the ICON boxes into their design. Personally I think I am still going to go with the ICON boxes but the series 3 is still a great choices if you dont want to pay the ICON prices. whatever anyone chooses i don't think you can loose.
I just got my series 3 box . I went ahead and put rivets in the slides that are attached at the box. I also installed rivets on the drawer side slides as well. Keeps the box from squeaking when opening the drawers , also shores up the drawer from wobbling side to side . Overall a great box for the money , add on a few mods and it will be great for years
I went to my local harbor freight today to find out when they are getting them in. I was told May 1st. all sizes 72" and 56" bottom box and hutches. I need a hutch and side locker. It works just as good as the expensive Snap-On box i used to have, at a fraction of the cost. # I`m sold
I bought my MAC tool box from the local MAC toolman in 1987. It was the second largest tool box they sold at that time. It was $1700 and I was making $6.50 an hour back then. LOL The drawers don't have ball bearings. Everytime I go to a Harbor Freight store, I take time to play with the toolbox drawers. They slide so nice. One of my top drawers is full of "extra" bolts and odds and ends. It's saved my backside several times for having a bolt that got lost. The gray color wouldn't show the grease and dirt as well as a Red, Blue or other color box. I still have my original Craftsman tool box. I keep sand paper, electrical ends and wire, fuel line, and small parts in it. It still has a purpose.
@@RedBeardsGarage That is what I was thinking. maybe he should call Mac and see what new ball bearing draw rails will cost. I know Snap-on will replace there if they wear out.
Small correction. The series 2 and 3 are compatible, the series 1 is not. I had, unbeknown to me, a series 1 44" bottom chest and roller. I bought an end cabinet, it is several inches deeper than the original. I made it work, and then bought a series 2 52" bottom chest to make it work better. So, the original series 1 is not really compatible with the series 2 and/or 3.
It appears to be a nice looking box. I would consider purchasing one next time. I purchased a 46” Power Force bottom roller last year which has been a great box so far except not unlike you I’m running out of room again. Seems like you have room for a month or two after getting a new box then all of a sudden it’s full again. I either need to stop buying tools or…….Nahhhh I’ll keep buying tools. Again nice looking General and walk around. 👍👍
Congratulations to ya! I like that harbor freight sent you a free toolbox to review!! I've got the us general 56in with a side cabinet and it's completely full! I haven't had any issues with it at all. My top socket draw has probably 400 pounds in it
@@CupidFromKentucky not sure what all the changes were from the series 1 to the series, but I know with the series 2, they started offering the boxes in many colors. I have red, and I think black was a choice back then.
Obviously haven't seent one of these in person, but what can see in your video, I really dig this box. It looks pretty much just like my best friends Matco box in his shop that was far more than $3k. Do wish this were a bit cheaper, because unfortunately it's a bit out of my price point at the moment. I've long outgrown my home shop craftsman professional box, wish I'd gone with a 72" from the git, but I just didn't have the luxury of space I do now. Being a poor is hard sometimes 🤣🤣
I’m sold!! Just a hobbyist “mechanic” I guess I could say outgrowing my old craftsmen but this seems like it’ll more then do the job no reason for me to spend 8k or more on a toolbox thanks for the video!!
Hard to say if I'd get one. I was looking forward to hearing the differences between the series 2 vs. series 3, but I didn't see you make any mention of it besides the full drawer latching mechanism. Very slick looking box though, don't get me wrong. I'm sure it'll serve you well.
I hung my chargers on the rear of my cabinet and ran them to my power strip. It saved me a whole drawer and it's habit to plug my batteries in when done.
I'd buy it just like yours.. slate grey with the hutch. 🤩 ... not sure if I'd let go of my 52" matt black Husky tool chest & cabinet combo though... it still is an awesome box imho
I have that same booster box. It’s the best on the market. I ended up getting the one with a AC power supply that plugs in through the 12V socket. I’m thinking of getting that 72” box. I work maintenance so my box right now is packed full and I have all my air tools and cordless tools in my work locker cause I can’t fit it all in my box. I actually went in about 2 weeks ago to buy a new box and that’s when I heard about the series 3. Now I’m waiting on it’s release. They need to hurry cause I need a new box right now. Lol.
Ha ha ha that's nearly like mine at the shop. At least it's easy to move around the shop to go where I need to fix customer's vehicles or service our truck's. Had mine sheesh about 14 years. I have the same thing at my house cause I am always working on neighbors and friends vehicles and they pay me good $$$ and 🍕🍔🌮🌭 (food)
Great review! However can you see if the two extra wide top drawers have bottom supports plates. Similar to the ICONs to keep the drawer bottom from bowing.
Dang man that is awesome! I love the new grey it looks almost like my GT2 Stinger color! Your tool organization skills are impeccable! I live in Texas and the stores don’t have the series 3 yet. Can’t wait!
The series 3 looks pretty slick, I think I want to see more details on the improvements of the series 3 like drawer configuration compared to the Series 2 and stuff like that before I would make a decision. But it also begs the question if their going to update the Icon line or discontinue it, because the gap looks like it is getting closer.
Icon boxes are still built better. USG series 3 updates are just different drawer configuration, taller drawers, new latch system as seen in the video, and they added two new colors white and grey. Oh and black trim.
Awesome vid. You did a great job on thoroughly going through every feature! Just one thing...... You stated the Series 3 was backward compatible with Series 2 and Series 1. Hello Red Beard's Garage Thank you for a Great Video 👍 I found your channel and subscribed from The Den of Tools channel. I look forward to seeing more content from your channel. And how the Series Three Box works for you. Again thank you 😊
I like my series 2 I’m only waiting on the series 3 end lockers bc 22vs 16.5 I’ll take the extra space that I have the room for. Gonna do end locker, 44 top/bottom, end locker, 26 top/bottom
Have you thought about swapping out the contents of the two lower right hand drawers? Put your chargers in the deep drawer so you have enough clearance to close the drawer while charging. Move the compressor to the upper drawer (assuming it'll fit) Also, I noticed that some of the drawers have block off/knock out plates in case you want to convert them to a power drawer.
I was looking for the 72in top bank as well as the bottom chest of the U.S. GENERAL series 2. They have on their app that there are not any in stock. I am not sure if it is because the series 3’s are now coming or what, not yet too worried about it because I haven’t got a place to put them at yet
Liked, subbed and bell rung! Awesome box. I’m wanting the exact box and hutch you have in that gray - along with the 5 drawer large cart/cabinet (?) in purple. They’d look good together and with my large black box 🤠😎
What the fuck! This seriously puts pressure on the tool trucks. Not something I’d buy personally cause I prefer to buy made in USA but wow I’m impressed
Looks nice but I still like all their Icon stuff the best. I will put Icon stuff up against the stuff I get off the tool truck any day. I wish Harbor Freight and a parts store would do a partnership together. Have the USA version of Super Cheap Auto from Australia.

Me too hopefully they make a 44 inch and 54 or 52 in series 3
