One of the most influential albums of all time, would’ve been better off just doing the whole album at once. But even if you do that you should listen to a song that wasn’t put on the album called ‘Did You No Wrong,’ it’s an absolute hidden gem that deserved to be on their 1 and only album. Dare say it would’ve made it to their second album if they didn’t break up, you’d be the first person to react to it which would be super cool 🤘🏻

she showed up with her dead fetus in a baggie, thats what Rotten was talking about. "This wasn't too shocking", You have to look at the time period. At that time the only place to hear music was FM radio. It was saturated with Prog rock and Classic Rock. Bands like Tom Petty, Foreigner, Journey, Kansas, Boston, Eagles et al. All were singing about getting pussy. Or pontificating about who the hell knows what. Then the Sex Pistols came out singing about real stuff, abortion, anger at social issues etc. Lyrics like "I look around your house you got nothing to steal" was f*cking real sh*t. Where Classic and Prog had been in fantasy land this was real and QUITE shocking. Many didn't know what to think and hated "that punk shit".

Good shit!!!! Listening to this song again. No one should be surprised that Lydon sounds almost conservative today. It has always been there. " It's not a loss of protein. Its an abortion. " He revisits this theme on PIL's album Happy? with the song The Body. I don't think the single did very well, but the video is entertaining watching John dance around in his hospital scrubs like a doctor from hell, with his tools being crude instruments like hammers and saws. You should do a reaction to the video.

The pro/anti abortion angle is discussed elsewhere but, if nothing else, it reminds people that abortions are not a simple issue of women's rights but (especially the backstreet illegal kind) shouldn't be anyone's first choice of contraception. The in-your-face music and lyrics fit perfectly with this story and show the almost metal side of the Pistols. Maybe their best (though I also agree with the love for Did You No Wrong elsewhere in the comments). Once again, thanks for the name-check, JP!

"Pauline was a girl who used to send these letters to me from some nuthouse up North in Birmingham. She was in a mental asylum. She turned up at my door once wearing a see thru plastic bag. She did the rounds in London and ended up at everyone's door. She had a very curious way of finding out where people lived. Like most insane people, she was very promiscuous. The fetus thing is what got me. She'd tell me about getting pregnant with the male nurses at the asylum or whatever. There's a line in the song about Pauline living in a tree. She actually had a tree house on the estate of the nuthouse. The nurses couldn't get her down and she'd be up there for days. Apparently punk rock pulled her out of her cocoon. She didn't seem to have a problem either...one of the many lunatics that used to attach themselves to us." ~ John Lydon
"You had to keep your distance from Pauline. She was a mad fan who used to turn up everywhere. She turned up at my door too. She was dangerous and very crazy...someone you really had to worry about. She was a pretty girl but she had those mad eyes." ~ Paul Cook
"Everything - tune and lyrics inspired by the infamous Pauline from Birmingham. The girl with the crazy look who would follow us around. The mad opening of the song still reminds me of her. " ~ Steve Jones

Sorry to everyone who thinks this song is anti-abortion: You're wrong. Johnny had this to say in an interview when asked if Bodies was anti-abortion:
"No. Quite the opposite. No, no. Early on I had an acceptance of what life really is. We lived in two rooms and we had an outdoor toilet. My mum had a miscarriage. And this isn't against my mum, but - this could have been a brother or a sister for me to play with and I had to flush it down the toilet. I mean, that strikes you. And that's like an abortion. I'm not anti- or pro-abortion. Every woman should have the choice when they face it. But that was a grim Steptoe & Son world. My mum was heartbroken. And if you construe that as being anti-abortion, then you're a silly cu... sausage."
So, he's pro-choice and has a special message to those who construe.
