Maytag Refrigerator Reprogramming - Installing the W10310240 Control Board

- If you have a Maytag Refrigerator that won't display temperature or a Maytag Refrigerator Control Won't turn on, this is a simple video on how to take out, install and reprogram a Maytag Refrigerator control board. When you buy a new W10310240 control board, you'll likely get the PE0000 error code, or something similar that requires you to reprogram your refrigerator. We did this on an MFI2569VEM2 Maytag refrigerator, but this will work for a Whirlpool Gold control board, too.

Remember: If your refrigerator has dirty condenser coils, it could be failing to cool this refrigerator properly, costing you a lot of money as well as why the ice maker won't automatically operate - consider buying an appliance cleaning kit to prevent your appliance from an early failure.

After 5 Attempts I was able to reset my Maytag Refrigerator which saved me $200 dollars 💵!
The Technician charged $95 to diagnose the problem! He wanted another $90 for Labor & $278 for the part!
The part on Amazon was $152 plus S/H but it’s better than buying a new fridge & overpaying for labor plus parts!

Great video! one comment on the instructions though, is that to set it, after entering the code, you press and hold down arrow until flashes, but then only press the down arrow once(DO NOT press and hold or you will be on an endless loop)... took me less than a minute to figure out but that was the only part that differed for me.

It was a MESS getting this fridge to program right. Ugh. I can't really record all the screw-ups, but so often, fridges that need a specific input to go into diagnostic require it to be very precise, and I only show the one time I get it done quickly - not the 3 times I didn't and edited out, ha ha.

We’ll, my new friend, our Maytag fridge door open light kept flashing, the interior light wouldn’t work.
I figured I’d have to replace the control board, then reprogram the front panel. Before ordering the control board, I attempted to reprogram the front panel as you did here and IT WORKED!!
Next, I’m going to tackle the ice maker.

Its a horrific problem with a very easy but costly fix unless you wanna fiddle with board-level repair. 4-5 capacitors on this board die in sequential order, causing the issue. If you're handy, the fixing kits are $30 or so.

Glad it helped! I recorded this because we had to fix/reprogram like... 3 of these in a week and my tech kept forgetting how to do it, so I threw the lights on the unit and recorded it so we'd have it in permanent record, ha ha.

My existing board is blank until I push any button then it lights up. Could it be “jump started” by attempting to enter the programming sequence?

Thanks , Fortunately the part came with programming instructions. But many in the past didn’t.
I read a few post’s indicating a certain code doesn’t program , I think it was 1411
If that’s the case , The code in your video SHOULD be same parameters

Any videos about a really loud but otherwise functional icemaker? Or interior leds that won't fully come on.
This just happened to us after a power outage. The fridge wasn't working, the panel was flashing and beeping. We tried unplugging the fridge, hoping it would reset, but no luck. My husband wanted some ice and, since the fridge wasn't working, he opened the inside tray to get some. When he pushed the tray back in, the fridge reset and is working fine now. It may have been a fluke but I suggest trying this first, just in case.
Hi! So I was able to get through programming which was tough because the interface kept blinking. Now its still turning on and off. The fridge just won’t stay on. The longest it runs is about 5 seconds, then it goes off again. Any advice?

I had a power surge that knocked out the main board on my Maytag double door with front door control panel. I had the main board replaced, and followed your instruction exactly to reprogram. About 1,000 times. At about 2:30 into the video, you pressed the Door Alarm button and then the Freezer Down button. When you pressed the Door Alarm button it went green. Mine won't. Is that door control panel bad, and should I cut my losses and get another reefer?

GReat video Ben ! I have to replace the board on a WHIRLPOOL WRF555SDFZ and the panels are not the same. I am afraid to make a mistake and not to be able to reprogramming the unit....would you give me a hint on how to do it in this or similar WHIRLPOOL panel ? I would appreciate it very much. We just had a technician come out. Our display wasnt lighting up, so he told me I only needed the display board (the board that's behind the temp and ice controls).. so I ordered it. He couldn't order it himself because Maytag no longer stocks the display board (no idea why).
So could it just be the display board like the technician suggested, or is it most likely the control board in the back? I don't care, I'll order the control board (still cheaper then a new fridge), I'd just like to know before waiting on the display board if that's not the issue. Both look like simple fixes and I know it's one or the other. I just wish I had more confidence in the technician's suggestion.
Hopefully you read this and can get back to me. I don't want to order a control board if I don't need to, but I also don't want to waste all this time waiting for a part (display board) that may not work. Any info would be great.

Hi Ben. I like your videos. Question re a Maytag Water and Ice maker dispenser. When we get ice the water starts dispensing. We are sure we're Not touching the water pad. It seems its just uber sensitive. Water just stays coming out all over. What would be making this happen? Any ideas?

I have a Maytag MFI2568AEB. The front display has not worked except for the water dispenser. The contols are all locked. Currently the temp alarm went off for the freezer (too warm). Because the front panel is locked I am unable to make any adjustments. We have replaced the back control panel once about 3-4 years ago. - this fridge is 16 years old. My question is : is this worth trying another back control panel? IF so what is the number of the control panel part would I purchase? Thank you

have this exact unit, keypad functions fine but compressor won't come on, is this a control board issue? or a thermistor issue. If so where are the thermistor on this unit?

Installed board and it went well and seems to be running.. Fridge has been off for 48 hours till we received the part. But now the water nor the ice doesn't seem to want to work. Could there be something else wrong? When I push the button for water it just beeps. When I try the ice I hear nothing.

Changed our board it worked for a day and a half and then blank/ black display screen again m, yet Fridge sounds like it’s running but no water or ice and nothing happens when pushing any buttons any suggestions ?
Once or twice, I've seen the compressor relay go bad and some how manage to do that. Not sure why. Also check the wire connections going from board to the interface as well.
I have a Maytag MFX2876DRM00 but the serial label says code and there is no code listed? Did Maytag used to have a generic code? I called Maytag and they just want me to call a tech. Thank you.
Hey thanks so much! Great video. Our control board went bad one night after what might have been a brief power outage. We ordered a new one, after trying to reset the old one several times by unplugging it, without success. We then filled the fridge with dry ice but left it plugged in and waited for delivery of out new control board. Two nights later, the control board started flashing and lighting up over and over. By the morning, the fridge was back on and working properly! What gives. We are still replacing the control board, and putting a surge protector on. Sort of ticked off about the whole thing. My parents fridge worked for 50 years. My last fridge worked for 25 before I relplaced it when I couldn't find a new seal that fit. This one is about ten years old and came with a defective drain valve that needed replacement after three years.

Are they not working at all, or just not entering diagnostics? You have to do it In the order shown as exactly in the video. It may take a time or two to get it right. This is a video where I get to edit out all my mistakes because the truth is it took a time or two to get it right

Make sure to check all wire connections on the harnesses when you re-installed the board.
Does it need to replace the board? Is that the only option?
If you're good with soldering, you can replace all the caps on the board instead.

Did you use the buttons on the display to change the PE code? What happened when you pressed the buttons? Otherwise, I'd do a reboot cycle on it

Solved... hold 15 seconds instead of 3
Mine will not allow me to enter into program the code. I never got the screen showing it needed it. Just set my temps and going to see what happens.
