My gray split to blue mutation IRN Keiko just passed away on me and my family. After giving us an absolutely glorious 18yrs of love, laughter, and an overall bond that was beyond special. Keiko's clarity was exactly like Bleu's I miss it terribly and every time I hear Bleu it brings tears to my eyes because it reminds me so much of Keiko. We've recently welcomed another IRN into our home Kayci who looks exactly like Bleu and I can only hope that he or she will talk as nearly as good as our beloved Keiko did. I say he or she because with these particular Asiatic's it can take up to 3yrs before they can be "visually sexed" via the males ring or collar. Before then DNA testing is unfortunately the only tried and true method. But i'm pretty sure I've got a male again as my Keiko was even at Kayci's early age of only 10 weeks at least i'm hoping I do. And if I don't so be it as females can also learn to talk as well just not nearly as good as the males. However, females come with there own pluses often times being more cuddly and "hands on" then males tend to be. I've been in the avian field now for 30yrs having experience with both wild and exotic pet species. I've worked "hands on" with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey and Budgies to Macaws folks no joke. And when I say that the IRN or Indian Ringneck's ability and clarity of speech is on par with an African Grey or Amazon Parrot I mean it...!!! They are bar none THE BEST small-med sized talking bird out there FAR exceeding any Quaker Parrot who has long been the bird of choice in the talking arena for it's size. They absolutely cannot compete with IRN's in terms of clarity and putting association with the words they use. These birds are "regal" and they exude royalty due to there high intelligence level and beauty and were revered by ancient Greek and Roman kings among other dignitaries and for good reason...!!!
Hi Gina and Bleu, I have a Indian Ringneck who is 15 weeks old and can't talk yet but is ready to. One day he was on my shoulder and I was watching this video and he was squawking his head off as as he saw Bleu talking and my baby had the urge to speak to blue it was amazing!
Thank you all! Bleu started talking around 6- 8 months old. He is a wonderful, loving and very smart bird! I think I paid 250.00 for him and bought him as a baby. I also hand fed him baby formula, so we bonded very well. He repeats everything I say and also laughs just like me! LOL I do have other birds as well but Beu is my Fav!!! Bleu is a wonderful and very smart bird. He expands his vocabulary daily. I think he started talking at 6 months, but really well at about a year. There is no guarentee that your bird will talk, they only talk when THEY want to!! LOL He was around 2 yrs old wen he finally got his ring around his neck as this is when they reach maturity. If you handle your bird daily, bond with him, and he is happy he should talk for you real soon! :)

omg he is to handsome! I just purchased my first two weeks ago. I am also handfeeding him as I have most my others. I have noticed he is quite different from my other parrots! very human like...wants to be out of his cage all the time and held and played with. i am very attached already! Have you seen the news articles? These blue parrots are now extinct because of hunting, deforestation and captivities. This video shows captivity. One of the 3 reasons.
