Thanks to everyone for the love. Oatmeal it's super smart. He seems to know what he is saying on most days instead of just mimicry of what we say. Especially the don't do that and the sorry part! Lol
IRNs make me smile. Especially cute and chatty ones. I recently got an 8 year old male, he was used as a breeder, but I would like him to be more a family bird, but I don't think he will be too social with us.
He has his days. Some days he can't get enough love and will even cuddle with me or my kids under our chins. Or let us pet him non stop. This video was taken on one of his off days. We got him when he was about 7 months old and was never socialized in any way, so what he has learned in just a year is great so far!
Yes, he loves to be petted on most days, but gets temperamental sometimes. He does his majority of talking when cuddling and getting petted or when in front of a mirror. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, 8 years old is a little old to start socializing, but who knows. They are smart animals. Figure out what his favorite food is and bribe him with it. He just might come around!
Yep, not sure if it from watching your videos with him or if your words with Bowie made an impact on me in some way and I started saying them , Not sure what came first. If it was your influence, then thank you!
They show their emotion in their eyes as well as their voice. When they eat, talk, get mad or excited, they do that. I guess I'm not sure on a specific reason though.
My IRN is listening. He and my African Gray talk to me and to each other. We actually converse like this, and when they chat with each other, it's great. They do know what they are saying.
Can you please tell me how you taught him to talk. I have a indian ring parrot which was caged for 11 years by the former owner who recently passed away

He's a good talker, it's funny that they mimic perfectly but also have their own sound that the whole species shares
Love him! Sweet baby

Is hee saying "beak kisses"?
My male IRN & I love watching Oatmeal. But how do you know "he" is a he? I don't see any neck ring or mustache.
His personality showed that he was a male. He now has his ring, so we were right!
