I saw D&Co December 2015 and I thought by Summer 2016 they had reached their peak. I go back to these first shows and immediately feel in my bones that this is the "best" version of The Dead. I mean it. Jerry is a god, but this is even better. Idk how to explain it.
John Mayer plays Jerry basically note for note. Awesome work John!!! Bobby once looked the youngest in the band, now he looks the oldest...like a modern day Jerry. 🙂
Well shit this is easily the best franklins I think I’ve ever heard ever... wow how do ya miss this!?!? Also - what comedians they truly are w those vocal lines, god damn. Fantastic job on this one here 5 years ago... nice
I was there that night. Phenomenal. I saw them the next two nights in LA. I had a great party to go to on New Years. But couldn’t stay away. I was so torn because I felt I was going to miss out on something. It was the best New Years I have ever spent.
Been a dead head for a long time, there’s no replacing Jerry but…. I gotta say John does a pretty good job. I didn’t want to say it when I first heard about him coming on board but son of a bitch he’s got it dialed in! 👍
Wasn't a John M. Fan b4 I heard him jam with Dead & Co. He is actually the best guitarist & vocalist that played with them out of all.
Toby Hubler im in the same boat on all accounts!
He may be the best guitarist alive right now.
See Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes
I loved Jerry's voice, but John's voice and clean playing really breathed fresh air into those songs
I was at this show,John's first set of shows in sanfran, magic
I cried like a baby when I first heard John play with D+C. I knew the music would play on for my children and Grandkids. That's what it's about.

Amazing version & Jerry would be proud of what he is hearing out of John!
Help Slip Frank is easily my favorite piece of music in the history of noise! This version is incredible!
'History of noise'...classic mate & I agree, they kicked ass on this version!
Way to go johnny boy. This proves that you deserve the spot you have. You earned it and I think you are having a blast . So nice to see and hear this.
God Bless the Gratefull Dead...Hats off to you John, This music should never Perish,
The 4th dimension of existence. Thank you fellas!
What a terrific guitar player is John, a true virtuoso....
Starting at 13:45 and through the rest of the song, John just has my jaw on the floor every time I watch this
Tyler Pettit ....definitely! Gave me chills. Dude can play
When people ask me where John Mayer is now, I always say listen to him here. He owns this song, even more so this last summer
dead percussion propels it. something about the drums.
really? that's what puts your jaw on the floor? thin sounding , twangy guitar , 1-4 major progressions?
da sooperb No it’s assholes in comment sections that spit out less than basic music theory to act superior
I was standing right in front of Mayer during the entire first set just getting my mind blown. This was the first time I saw him with D and C. Sold!
They were way better from the start than anyone could even comprehend.

10-01-94 Boston garden. Help slip frank. But listen the whole show.
@@janeseamore1370 roger, cap’n!!! Might I add: D&C rendition . The garden though, different story all over. Wow all around
I looked this up to see how John would sing Franklin’s Tower... I didn’t expect it to be this good!

Franklin's Tower starts at 8:20
Bless you soul
15:20 Pointing up to Jerry as his soul enters John. Then Jerry just rips those chords.
John & Jeff I’m so in love with these 2 together
Thank you
That smile Bob gives John at 19:54
MAGIC. it only happens once in a while.
This performance has Grateful Dead written all over it. I don't care what anyone says.
John kills it!
phenomenal :-o
No doubt any GD song any day makes it easier to take JM CHANNELS JERRY. Needs to grow his hair and beard out.
And this was John's first year with the band? Wow.
I wish they played this at spac!
was super lucky to be there that night!
shine. Shine!
Ridiculous! This sounds extremely tight and loose and the same time!
Man what a perfect way to describe it
Harambe is on Oteil’s bass cab.
chimenti crawling up and down the keyboard!
Josh Lewis he’s so good on the organ!
Twirling Hair! Guess its my bro! ✌🏼

Clearly the music never stopped
Jesus, the Dead really are the house band of San Fransisco, aren't they?
anyone else expecting slipknot the band to be in this?
That shit is garbage, nobody wants that in a Dead show.
sufyan mirza everybody has opinions bro don’t shoot down other people just because they enjoy other types of music :)
@@sufyanmirza1201 I like both slipknot and grateful dead. Apples and oranges. Don't be narrow minded.
Other than Jerry of course.
Does anyone know in which key is franklin's tower on this one?
A
it's in D. chords go A G D G
How unimpressed does the drummer seem to be there still LOL
We be wren thru this before um!
Only problem is John Mayor singing
are you serious? 😂😂 his voice brings this band alive. he makes everything better. makes the dead go from great but a little corny to absolutely epic.
Smh
I think you’re confused by the definition of problem Blake.
John is totally present.
@Northern Wealth Anarchy Perimeter ok, update- 4 years later I disagree with myself.
