    Excellent video, I wish I had done a few of those recommendations when I moved to Canada. I did a few of them years later when I moved in (like Joining a soccer team, Facebook groups, etc). And please do not ignore the prairies lol, I know that we are in the middle of nowhere but moving to Saskatchewan or Manitoba is a good option too. It is cheaper right now despite the weather here being more extreme. Good video!!!

    I love how people think Canada is affordable. Depends where you call home. Totally avoid the Maritime provinces, you’d become barren pretty quick. The taxes will eat almost everything up. Best of luck hope things work out. Most of us Canadians are ready to jump ship from all the corruption. They’ll let anyone in now so I wouldn’t worry too much.

    It took me over a year to find a job in Canada. I contacted more than 300 companies and burned a lot of savings. My field is not hot like tech or healthcare. I got my job thru LinkedIn, and I was actually referred by an American, and the Canadians got interested 😂 It was tough.

    I knew people in Canada and shared some moments with them but always was missing something... For example in my country origin at the office with my colleagues we used to play soccer once a week and share some wonderful moments... in Canada people at the office were like nerds didn't practice sports... also when there were celebrations and there were opportunities to toast and drink a beer... I found most people don't drink alcohol... which is good... but just for a toast ??? not even that??? boooring!!!! also when I was invited to some parties the invitation said: start hour: 6pm end hour: 10 pm... WTF??? and worse, there weren't music on the party it was just a moment to chat with people which I can do on any moment but on a party is for dancing and celebrate.... so I felt always the people just like acquaintances not like real friends ...

    • @kstar_ca
      @kstar_ca 7 місяців тому +1

      It's unlikely that people can make real friends in the workplace in Canada. People here are nice, but friendship is something that is not in the DNA of those living in capitalistic dog-eat-dog countries, such as Canada.

      Canada and affordability are words that hardly match. 😬 The lakes here are definitely gorgeous and located relatively close to the city, but the season is ultra-short, so it is barely possible to enjoy the summer. Besides, mosquitoes here are crazy; no outdoor activities are possible without tons of repellents used on the skin and clothes. Not surprisingly, Winnipeg is more ‘affordable’ than other cities in Canada.😂

      In the U.S. you could live in a boring midwestern city, a dilapidated rust-belt city, or an impoverished southern city for half the price of Winterpeg and you'd have warmer weather and a similarly-exciting lifestyle. Pick a southern city and you can have all the bugs too.

    A single person will need a minimum of 25,000 to 40,000 to immigrate to Canada now. Your 16,000 is too low. Unemployment has risen. More companies are laying off or cutting hours. The government does not want to build affordable housing. Canada was given the raw end of the deal when NAFTA (Noth American free trade scheme) was signed in the 1980's. Part of the reason for high taxes, and also corruption. Applaude you for for optimism though.

    I think like many countries, most of us have a love hate relationship where ever we live. I live in Victoria, BC, born in BC, grew up on the island. I like the mild weather and beautiful outdoors. The cost of living has always been insanely too high but never like today. Worst thing in Canada is the cost of living, high taxes, horrible medical and justice system and politicians that have ruined everything. Plenty other negatives too…racism, bigotry, a country in denial, not so long ago history of genocide against numerous groups of our Indigenous, bad transit, minimum wage doesn’t even help the poor, drug addiction is everywhere seen and hidden, politicians make laws that are rarely upheld by the justice system so they change laws for criminals/druggies to be more criminal then realize their mistakes far too late after people are attacked, hurt, maimed, killed and a lot of businesses shut down with many more lost jobs, and homes are constantly broken into. Illicit drug makers and dealers run a large portion of this country and the politicians won’t do a thing because of the costs. They’ll lie and have the media say they’re making changes when they don’t have the resources anymore in police departments to do hardly anything. The cold dark rainy winters don’t help anyone’s struggles. Mental health problems are rising just as fast as homelessness and addictions. Canada is a very corrupt country struggling. I don’t recommend moving here.

      Bilingualism would probably work best in Quebec, New Brunswick and partially Ontario. In Quebec your bilingualism will be considered a must, while in the other two provinces - an extra asset. If you decide to relocate, you’d need to register with the specific provinces you engineering body. Overall Quebec and Ontario has the most construction projects in Canada.
