When I visited Voorbaai depot in 1994 it was completely different, many locomotives were operational. What a sad look now, it shows clearly the disinterest of Transnet in their 'heritage fleet', I know there are many of the same types there, mainly 19D, 24 and a couple of GMA/M, but if at least one or 2 of each could be saved, same for the class 32 diesel, why not keep that as an operational heritage locomotive. We all know how beautiful the Voorbaai-Mosselbaai-George railway is, but not much happening there, at least not a regular tourist service as had in the past.
They pensioned bobby rudman off and the new guy has no interest in any of it there. Too late for fencing the area off - most of anything valuable has long gone. I see the GMAM is still standing there ❤ waiting and hoping for someone to rescue her 😢
