I can’t believe Hank Marvin is on this. What a legend. I love that he’s playing around in the gypsy paradigm. Who knew?!
Yes a legend and a gentleman! Robin
My old guitar player moved from Lancaster to London he found a pub that had a Gypsy jazz session and Hank Marvin was there.
@@rezzab that’s very interesting. He certainly seems to be good at anything he plays.
@@rezzab great story! I think the pub is the Quecumbar in Battersea
He was my father number one guitar hero, he knew...
Hello to my favourite guitar player of all time mr marvin

Music - the international language. Wouldn't it be interesting if every politician had to be a musician?
I can see a lot fewer wars, and more mutual respect throughout the world. I believe things would be better.
Agreed!
Me gustaría ser uno más en este club,, y aprender este estilo, qué me ha cautivado
www.GypsyJazzClub.com te estamos esperando!
If life gives you lemons make lemonade out of it. - Who would have thought of something like that at start of that pandemic *¿+%$#$§*# and now we can look at this video with some of the greatest players around and many enthusiasts who love to play guitar and violin too. People from all around the world who share their passion for music. I guess 23 minutes of pure joy.
Beautiful words mate! 🎸💕🥂Robin
Amazing!! My favorites was the Lady with the Violin, she killed it!! And of course the master himself, Jimmy Rosenberg ❤️🎸

Another piece of Gypsy Jazz Club history, along with the exceptional performances of more than fifty great players, each improvising a whole chorus, we are gifted with the talents of three Gypsy Jazz Guitar SUPERSTARS !!
HANK MARVIN, MARTIN TAYLOR, and JIMMY ROSENBERG, have all played at the original Django Reinhardt Festival of Gypsy music, at Samois sur Seine , in France, and each of these guitar legends know what it is like to sit and play round the campfire into the night.
The last time that I heard more than fifty players improvise together on the tune " Dark Eyes" was at Babik Reinhardt's 50th. birthday party barbecue which finished when the dawn broke the next day.
For this team effort, massive congratulations go to every player from countries all around the world, doing their best to make their mark in history in a collective ensemble online, which will be enjoyed for generations of guitarists yet to be born.
Thanks to Robin Nolan the Gypsy Guitar Guru, to the club members, and the Superstars HANK, MARTIN and JIMMY this session has to be the most remarkable Gypsy Jazz Club production yet.
Babik’s 50tj was epic! 🍾💕🎸🔥
Kudos to the Great Ian Date too!

Massive project but massive fun :) It really goes to show what a great variety of people we have in the club. I really recommend that if you are interested in playing this music, beginner or advanced, there is a place for you in our community. Great teaching, great support from the other students and the occasional celebrity dropping in to lend a hand and encourage us all. (PD)

thanks for the kind words man it's an inspiring Gypsy Jazz Club team effort and like you say... positive musical message! Robin
can u recommed me gypsy jazz guitar for beginner i don't know how to check the gypsy jazz guitar pls i'm really inspire at gypsy jazz
I know its a question for Robin but im a beginner myself.
Invest in something you can afford like a cigano gitane. Most Selmer Maccaferri copies(thats what theyre called) or GJ guitars are made by expert luthiers and they can cost you up $4,000 average. Id buy an affordable cigano gitane or just play on a western acoustic guitar. The first year or so is all technique and arpeggio learning over a couple tunes like Minor Swing or Dark Eyes, from what I have observed anyway. But yes Robin might be able to recommend you some affordable beginner guitars like Saga as well.
Yes well said Thovie. I play Polak Gypsy Guitars but yes for starting out the Saga Guitars are great
I have to say how inspired I am by this video Robin. There was not a single player that I didn't pick something up from. All the way from the seasoned professional right the way across the board to your students.
Brilliant brilliant video
Thanks so much 😊

Yes agreed Rick glad you enjoyed it! Robin
This is simply phenomenal and truly uplifting how the love of music demonstrates a universal language that connects humanity across the globe. Fantastic idea and beautifully executed. Wonderful to see so many talented individuals in distant pockets of the planet all with their own unique styles and interpretations of this marvellous piece. Some guy called Robin had a truly sexy, jazzy take on it and I loved the passion of the Bavarian chap, in fact they were all wonderful including the young lady on the violin. Simply fabulous, thank you so much for producing and uploading to everyone.
Thanks for the kind words man so glad you enjoyed it! 🎸💕Robin

Wow! Great job everybody, what a cool idea Robin! And seeing Jimmy was just the icing on the cake!!!
yeah big team effort Dave! Robin
This was great... and its interesting to see how everyone comes up with their own individualized interpretation/solo. Jim Mackay from Glasgow, Scotland had a nice flowing, phrased solo, and so did Mark Hotton from Luxemberg.
Yes team effort and Jim played great! Robin
Ha Ha wonderful. Haven't heard Ian Date play for a long time. Hottest session thirty years ago in port Melbourne Australia. Ian Date Guitar ,Tom Baker on Trumpet, Leon Heale on Bass and Alan Browne on Drums.

Thanks Michael see you in the Campfire! Robin
The first song I learned on guitar 52 years ago. an el. gtr version by probably an European pop band whose name I unfortunately dont remember with some fairly fast runs .Playing it solo on a Stella acoustic on the street on a cold NY morning 35 years ago , a friend passing by saying ' I knew you could play!' .)))
Lovely story thanks for sharing! 🎸💕Robin
Good job my friends.
Congratulations from São Paulo Brazil
Thanks José Carlos! Robin
Great performance and useful information for the entire jazz community.
-----
The author of the text, Yevhen Hrebinka (1812-1848), is a Ukrainian writer,
"Music by an unknown author" is often indicated, which is incorrect. The romance is performed to the music of Florian Herman's waltz ("Hommage Valse" (Opus 21) [1]) arranged by Sophus Herdel in 1884. Florian Herman was most likely a Russian German (Florian Hermann). Thus, one of the most famous "gypsy" Russian romances is actually written by an ethnic Ukrainian to the tune of a native of Germany.
Thanks for this Stepan appreciate the info! Robin
The collaboration is a real tour de force for the Gypsy Jazz Transfusion Club. It’s a huge testament to Robin Nolan’s ability to inspire, his impressive teaching skills & the cohesiveness of the community he fostered amongst the Club members. Like the other Club members, I feel so fortunate to have become a part of it.

This is great. So fun watching the various note choices.
Yes so cool hey Alex! Real team effort 🙏🎸💕Robin
Such wonderful performers come together to make exciting and beautiful music!
Absolutely man glad you enjoyed it! Robin
So good! Every single player has their own style & keeps it different throughout. BUT. There is NOT ONE SINGLE acknowledgement of the incredible rhythm support and bass throughout the whole 23 minutes of this video. Every individual is superb. But without those other instruments, over 23 minutes it would have been really rather boring, and dare I say it, tinny sounding. So yes, the individual skill is incredible. But take the rhythm and bass out and listen to it, and hear the difference. Please acknowledge the other player(s) who make you, as individuals, sound good, even if it is only yourself as the producer.
Yes you are completely right! Here is the backing track we used from Fusion Backing Tracks ua-cam.com/video/Jt_OPhpHQSo/v-deo.html

Those dark eyes, passionate eyes,
Those burning and beautiful eyes,
How I love you, how I fear you,
It seems I met you in an unlucky hour.
