Brockton H.S. has always had a bad reputation. I grew up south of Brockton and went through a different school system in the 70s. Things were bad then. Societal problems are worse and show up in the schools.
The school building itself hasn't even changed much since it was opened in 1971! I heard they are planning an expansion and renovation of the school, so that may improve things. But yeah, this is way too much; it's even worse than when I was going there 20 years ago!
To sum up this media story, it looks like a very safe and productive school where the students and faculty are devoted to academic excellence. While there is a funding and teacher shortage, the students are very understanding of the challenges and are very well behaved in the cafeteria during those periods where they don't have any other place to go. On the rare occasions when violence may surface, social media amplifies these unusual and out of character occurrences for this fine institution of scholarly achievement.
In other words, they are hushing things up. Even NBC10's coverage directly conflicts with this one: "Brockton High School teachers voice concerns about safety". Everything they want to be normal is not normal. It's run like a prison. Things are only getting worse, and there's no accountability with this kind of leadership.
Geez, the high school wasn't that bad when I went there 20 years ago! Though we did have some teachers absent without substitutes then, but my teachers were rarely absent like that. (My senior English class had two teachers; if one was absent without a sub, the other would run everything.) I could be wrong, but 3:05 looks like the biology class I had in my sophomore year! One safety/security measure they put in that I DO approve of are the stopper covers they installed over the fire alarm pull stations. (They still need a newer alarm system though, along with a fire sprinkler system.)
it’s crazy to me how yall only portray that bad percentage of BHS but yall never come to the good things like the plays, the senior nights for sports, seniors just had a whole Oscars Night but yall can’t post about that cuz it doesn’t get u views huh 😂😂😂😂
The issue with this story is that it didn't address the biggest issue: teacher shortage. They mentioned how teachers were laid off and they are having difficulty restaffing. That, I promise you, isn't getting to the real issue, which is student disrespect and misbehavior, and a discipline system which pushes pseudoscience as science, which is called "social-emotional-learning" and "restorative justice."
If does of you who don’t know, I use to go to school since 9th grade and seen bad stuff even this year which made my mom feel scared and worry and want to go to another town so everything will be better and safe with me and my sister. And I wasn’t seen in the video because my ID had a pass to go to next class with no traffic and I have good friends who were new while my childhood friends end up being bad and I hate them a lot. That’s why I hate seeing bad kids by swearing, doing drugs, skip class, and fights to cause toxic of my life.
Lot of gaslighting here. "Oh I've never felt unsafe", "oh the fights on social media are blown out of proportion" Yet they still have police and metal detectors on-site? Lol
People having their own personal opinions is gaslighting now??? Damn. The police and metal detectors are there because of gun threats the school received in 2021. They’ve been there ever since.
That’s because you’ve never been here. Fights happen at every school but when you have 3700 students more students repost and share the videos which make it look like there’s more fight than usual, and metal detectors are present because of something that happened once and that happens very often around American schools which is people carrying guns around without licenses or supervision
Ok so people’s personal opinions are gaslighting now? Damn, I must’ve missed something. The metal detectors were added because of gun threats in 2021. Get it right.
Food for thought if u had 📸 in the 60s ,U would see unbelievable violence that doesn't happen now as much, hanging, bar 🍺 stabbing molestation and wifebeating was nothing, and u damn Shure couldn't be openly sweet! 💯
Do they have a volunteer outreach program for adults to help keep the halls feel safe & secure. Surely there are plenty of parents in Brockton that care about their child's experience? I mean I think its a safe assumption that there should be PLENTY of parents to involve with that amount of students.
@@KCM.Interventions no, but my ex-gf worked at a private inner city school that required a parent to attend ALL meetings, or the child could not remain enrolled.
Theres no bullying just beef. We are teens we make mistakes but controlling us is too much. They’re definitely the good sides here. We arent adults with fully developed brains. We are kids
My high school didn't even have metal detectors, much less ID's. So, I am sitting here wondering what in the world is going on in some schools? Then I remember, I live in a very small town and I am thankful that I do.
3700 students in one high school is too much.
My school has 3100 and it's just 11/12 with some freshmen and sophomores in IB
Very few fights, safety is great
@@sportingdirector1but you don’t have staff and teacher shortages
@katrinagarrett9612
Schools should never go over 2,200 under one building period.
I agree. I'd rather see 4 schools with less than 1,000 students, but they require land and money.
Mine was bigger
You have giant CAMERA, why would they show you the truth if they know they are being filmed?????
Where’s Morgan Freeman?

Give em a 4 day work week. You'll get staff. High schoolers can handle themselves on a Friday
Make it 3 day week. No 2
It’s not a staffing issue, it’s…another issue…
You're treating these kids like they're in a prison they're gonna act like it. I've never seen a metal detector in my high school.
why is the teacher talking about spaghetti straps??? lol
